Does the WWE Champion still do "down payments" on titles?

In the old days of NWA, when a champion was crowned he was crowned. There was nothing wrong with it, as long as the champion didn't take the championship with him. And if he DID take the championship, said champion put a down payment on the championship belt so that it would be covered in the event of it either being lost or appearing somewhere else (ie: Ric Flair - WWF).

But does that still happen in the WWE?

Why would it? If you are a champ for the global force known as WWE, it isnt likely you would be jumping ship from a yacht to a lifeboat. I doubt Vince is worried about anyone leaving with his titles.

I'm not sure they still actually carry around the titles. During one of the specials awhile ago they showed someone getting or putting the title into a drawer that was being wheeled around.

Yeah, seems a bit of an archaic thing of the past. With all the precautions in place, they'd have a contingent if anything ever came up.

Plus what nightmare and therockiswwf said.

When I worked at a hotel that some wrestlers stayed at they never even brought luggage in.

It was at the time that MVP was US champ. I'd think if he was carrying the title around he'd take it into the hotel for safe keeping.

But maybe not.

I was thinking someone had a title stolen in the last couple of years but that was TNA.

Right...

Don't champs have like three belts? One they get to keep, one for TV, and one for traveling. I think I read that somewhere?
