Who was World Champion when you were born?

Always kind of interesting to see how old some people are here. And Sheik wasn't champion in May of 83. Backlund was.

Crap I was just thinking I'm the oldest person in this thread. Some of you aren't even old enough to drink....

Not an insult as many of you demonstrate a deep knowledge and concern for the business, which is refreshing. Just an observation.

Lesee...

Hogan was in his second reign as WWE champ and was a few days away from losing it to Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania 6.

Over in WCW, Flair was in his (officially) seventh reign as NWA champion, having already held it for over least ten months.

Ultimate Warrior was in his second reign as Intercontinental Champion, and the Colossal Connection of Andre and Haku were the Tag champs. Back in WCW, Lex Luger was in the middle of his third reign as the US champ, which would apparently be the longest run as US champ in the title's history. Also the Steiners were having their first run as tag champs.

This is actually a lot of fun.

Interesting concept

WWF: Hulk Hogan
NWA: Ric Flair

You're probably going to be seeing this combination a lot.

Bob Backlund.

I think I watched his epic title series with Greg Valentine from my crib.

We both lived in Connecticut. He might be my father.

Hulk Hogan was near the end of his third reign as WWF Champion when I was born. Pretty cool.

3rd January 1987

WWE title- Hulk Hogan. In the middle of his 4 year reign as the champ

Intercontinental- Macho Man Randy Savage

Tag Team- British Bulldogs (Davey Boy & Dynamite) - that is cool considering Bulldog is from my home town of Wigan in the UK (outside Manchester)

NWA- Ric Flair in his 5th reign as champion

Can't complain with that. The 2 biggest icons in the history of the business, a local hero and his tag team partner who is one of the best in-ring performers in history, plus another sure-fire HOF'er in the Macho Man.

All in all, a golden period in wrestling

You were born a day before me.

WWF: Bob Backlund
NWA: Harley Race
AWA: Verne Gagne

And I predate the Japanese titles.

Yokozuna was the WWE champion (I was born in August of 1993).

Vader was the WCW champion.

Don Muraco was the ECW champion.
