Does anyone miss Ecw now?

I think overall, I do miss it. After a while, I pretty much accepted that it was merely a small WWE brand, and liked it for what it was; more or less a place for new stars to develop. After all, it did kick start the likes of CM Punk, Miz, Morrison, Swagger and Sheamus, among others. I liked what Dreamer said about it one time, how even though it obviously wasn't the original ECW, it was the same concept, as far as allowing unknowns to make names for themselves.

Plus a lot of the time, I found ECW more entertaining when it came to actual wrestling than Raw or SD. To me, it was kind of similar to how college basketball wasn't quite at the level that the NBA is, but the guys playing college basketball are younger and more hungry for that spot. That's what some of the really good matches in ECW reminded me of.

I like NXT, but initially, I thought when ECW was going down, it was going to be the same format, rather than what NXT has going on. So I do miss how ECW was showcasing the younger guys and molding future WWE stars... but lately, I'm starting to believe that's what SmackDown will be more like, as a large percentage of the top draws are on Raw now. At first, I didn't like how SmackDown was left with only a few main eventers, but am now realizing that this leaves an opportunity open for someone to step up and become a top draw in the future.

Now I've been scanning thru some of the post, and I too thought this was on the Original ECW. And yes i do miss Paul E's ECW. WWECW on the other hand fell way off after programing went to PG. In the beginning there was Show killing people, Benoit had good matches there and the young talent was coming ie Pope *coughs* I mean Elijah Burke, Kofi, Swagger and Sheamus. But when later when Christan and Tommy Dreamer fought week end and week out, that gets boring. I'm diggin NXT tho. Just a chance to see the best in the world (Daniel Bryan) strech the other rookies out. If they do NXT again, i'm lookin forward to seeing Low-Ki *coughs* I mean Kaval.

WWECW was pretty good for what it was.

i do agree that it should have been 2 hours instead of 1 and that would have allowed for some other good matches and feuds.

i loved the wrestling aspect to it. and before the full-fledged PG era, you had some extreme rules matches that were awesome.

WWECW was a place for new guys to break thru and for some veterans to get some air time elsewhere. i'm thinking of guys like CM Punk, John Morrison, Miz, Sheamus, Swagger, Even Bourne, Kane as champion, Regal as a contender, Christian as champ, Tommy freaking Dreamer as world champion, Shelton Benjamin, Chavo... going before that you had RVD, Sabu, Sandman, Big Show, Test, Bobby Lashley and Hardcore Holly.

that match between Hardcore Holly and RVD was pretty awesome and there were many other very incredible matches with great feuds. i really did think that Christian vs Regal was great and Christian vs Shelton Benjamin at TLC totally did steal the show.

i miss it. i miss seeing these veterans that otherwise didn't get much attention having a place where they could wrestle and tell a great story. hope they get another shot.

Honestly I miss what it could of been. Vince had a great chance to recreate it and make it less violent and he just dropped the ball. First of all the draft should not be planned it should truely be random. The reason I say that ECW could of had better talant imagine Orton in ECW as chapion it would of gave credability to it and forced better matches. Another thing is they should of made every ECW title match an Extreme Rules or other type of specailty match.

I haven't watched a single ECW (WWE version) since it aired. So no...can't say that I miss it. The original ECW is such a distant memory that I barely even miss that.

The old and PG ECW era has come and gone. The same way DX and NWO have come and gone. They were great in the beginning, but at the end they started to lose their luster. I really hope ECW is finally laid to rest once and for all. I know some have enjoyed the new version, but I just thought that ECW was an unnecessary brand.

As far as NXT goes, it really isn't a great replacement. The concept is good, if you like reality shows with goofy competitions instead of wrestling. No matter how goofy NXT is, I'll take Daniel Bryan over The Zombie any day of the week.
