Do You Feel Edge's Absence in SD?

Getting Noticed By Management
So its been a few months since Edge shockingly retired after years of being Smackdown's face....

So the question is pretty basic....do you feel his absence? If so in a positive way or a negative way?

As for me...I do feel his absence in a negative way...I miss the guy, sd doesn't feel the same, randy orton even though he is a bigger draw than edge he has never done it for me, don't consider him entertaining, never have never will, and he just seems that he doesn't belong on sd, and he is already the champion.

Yes we got that so long desired Christian world title win but he was champion for 5 days!!! And smackdown got screwed in the draft accoding to me, they lost their great midcard division, and the got compensated with ronald mcdonald, sin botchara and mizark henry....and there isn't anyone on the roster that draws people in besides christian (to few) and rko.

And we never got that christian vs edge fued, but I miss the mic skills as well, edge was always a great talker and elevated his fueds with his words not only his great work in the ring, rko just feels robotic.

So....do you miss Edge? Discuss

Smackdown is feeling it for sure after losing edge. He was the only true face on Smackdown and a ring Veteran and brilliant on the mic to say he was the complete package is an understatement. I think if he had of continued he couldve been the next Stone Cold or even The Rock. I'm gonna miss him stealing the Show at Wrestlemania next year he was a true legend and Smackdown Just dosent have anyone as good. The closest i see thats close to him is Randy Orton. Now its time for him to step into his shoes and carry Smackdown.

Yes.

Right now we only have Randy Orton as the top Face.If Edge was still around he and Orton would be vying for Top Spot. Now we only have one Main Event Face being Orton with Christian turning Heel.WWE needs to push Bryan and Cara up to Main Event/Upper Midcard to get some more people in the Main Event scene.

The faces are also lacking something...Mic Skills.Edge had brilliant Mic Skills and lets look at Randy Orton. He is bland at best in Mic Skills,Daniel Bryan hardly ever talks and Sin Cara cant even speak english. Those three are the three biggest people on SD.Hell WWE Put Ryder on SD and push him to the Upper Mid Card and you got someone who can wrestle and has great mic skills.

Yes, of course Edge's absence is felt.

But I'll be so bold as to say it's not in a bad way.

Thing about Edge - one of the best ever - is he has done it all. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over. And since he has done everything over and over, we the fans have seen it over and over and over.

There was simply nothing left for him to do or for us to see.

I do think there was a reason his match was on first at Wrestlemania despite him being the World Heavyweight champion. And that reason had nothing to do with Alberto del Rio. It was all about the fact that seeing Edge win or lose a championship has happened so often, it's simply nothing special anymore. For years now Edge was the default champion on Smackdown - the guy who held the belt in times whenever the writers were in a slump.

I'll openly admit that, despite being an Edgehead and once proclaiming that it was the best finisher in WWE today, I was getting tired of the spear.

I guess what I am saying is that maybe it was time anyway for Edge to hang up the boots. Of course it would have been better could he have done it on his own terms, but the fact is it kinda was about time.

Everyone says Edge has done everything I must disagree there is one thing Edge did not do that i was waiteing to happen and that is Edge as Undisputed Champion:worship:

I don't feel it one bit and never have. Usually the top guy of a brand should draw you in with his matches and promos. Edge did neither for me. My top Smackdown matches have Edge nowhere near them. I never saw that one standout match or promo from him.

Orton, Christian, and Sheamus have been having great matches for the past month and you have a solid midcard. I'm just fine without Edge.

I enjoyed Edges matches but didn't have too much time for the guy between matches, he'd have the odd great angle but for the most part didn't do too much to interest me. I think Smackdown has become more exciting since Edge has left, the last few weeks have been really different.

So its been a few months since Edge shockingly retired after years of being Smackdown's face....

I hate when people say that... it just proves that they never even fucking watched Smackdown. Edge was the HEEL of Smackdown for years. He's been face just this past year and that's about it. The face of Smackdown when Edge was there was either Batista or Undertaker... and in a short time span, it was Jeff Hardy or Triple H... but never has Edge been the consistent face of Smackdown...

As for the question... No, I haven't felt anything different. Smackdown has always been able to quickly put someone in the main event spot and make lemonade out of lemons. Right now, Christian and Orton are doing a great job as the main focus with Sheamus pulling the weight as the third man. It's really a great show, and then in the under card, you have people like Rhodes and Sin Cara carrying some weight, which is really good. And finally, you've got Jinder Mahal and Khali, which in my opinion, is the best thing to happen for Khali since he won the WHC.

I have not been affected by Edge's absence in any manner. This is because firstly I never really liked Edge after his feud with Cena got over in 2006. Edge, as the Ultimate Opportunist, was a very interesting guy the first time he cashed in on the MITB briefcase but when that started happening every year, I stopped caring for him. It seemed to be the only thing that worked for Edge and in my view that made him somewhat undimensional. His face runs also fell somewhat flat after a good beginning on both occasions, ie after he returned from injury at the Royal Rumble and when he turned face by destroying the GM's laptop.

Secondly Smackdown have produced some very fine stories this year. Christian's story as the man who was denied the chance to live his dream as soon as he had achieved it and his subsequent vengeful heel turn is probably the best storyline in the WWE at the moment. The rise of Cody Rhodes has also been very interesting to watch and even the midcard guys of Smackdown like Bryan, Mahal and Sin Cara have managed to keep me entertained.

So, no I don't miss Edge at all.

I totally agree with Little Jerry Lawler and Yesiamaduck. I was never much of an Edge fan since he returned to the ring. He was just out of it... just off... He didn't capture my attention as before. But whenever I talk about Edge, somebody would always give me the "textbook" answer, as therockisback here so kindly demonstrated, some even got all agitated and flipped.

My point?

While Edge was better than most on the mic, he hadn't had a decent match for a long, long time. I'm more drawn to Christian, Orton (his recent matches), Sheamus, and some of the other mid-carders than him.

There was nothing much in him that interest me. Smackdown is more exciting now, than when he was around.

When he made his comeback years ago, he should have joined the commentary team instead. I think he would have been a much better addition to the commentary team than Booker T. (Maybe there wasn't an opening at that time, I don't know...)

Edge has always been one of my favorites so of course I feel his absence. For me though it's neither Negative or Positive. it's just something that had to happen.

With Edge's forced unforeseen retirement Vince & Co have done a good job with everything and I'm gonna go so far as to say it's better. Christian in Heel and Orton is halfway decent in the ring as champion and with Edge gone we get new people in the Main Event (Christian with hopefully more to come). I will always miss Edge but I've gotten over him not being on Smackdown every week already.

To Stich : I have been watching smackdown the last few years... When I called Edge the face of smacldown I meant that he was that consistent guy that you thought about whenever someone talked about smackdown... UT is hardly ever there, HHH was there for like 9 months, jeff was never truly the face the of smackdown and batista was always switching over to raw and back.....

As for the quality of matches, I can agree that Edge's matches have not been what they used to be before this injury in 09, but that doesn't mean they have been awful....

Edge's presence on smackdown is missed because he abruptly left when the show was in a transition spot, and know what do we have? I like sheamus but his mic work isn't there yet, sin cara can't speak and botches a lot (this coming from a latino), cody is great but he will get the christian treatment because of his size, daniel bryan is in the same boat and we haven't seen anything from kinder mahal to judge, oh and ted dibiase has been jobbed too much to become relevant again....Just My Opinion

Smackdown is not the same without Edge. I do notice a void that has not been filled yet. From 2007 onward it was his show more or less. Orton is doing his best to take that spot at the moment but I do miss having Edge on Smackdown and it's not the same without him because after having a guy on top of a show for so many years leave it takes a while for that spot to be filled sometimes.

Edge was always one of my favorites, but I can't say I miss him right now.

The Orton/Christian feud has been very fun to watch, and Christian's heel turn has added an extra spark to this feud. These two have already had a pair of damn good matches, and I can't wait to see the match between these two at Capitol Punishment. Sheamus is doing a fine job as a heel, and the mid card on the blue brand has been outstanding. Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, and Sin Cara have all been worth watching, and these men continue to deliver each week.

Smackdown is just fine at the moment. I am a fan of Edge, but I don't feel like I need to see a return.

I'm not all that upset he isn't on the show.

Edge's demise is another persons gain. So far, it has been Christian's gain, and as a wrestler Christian has always been the more talented out of E&C. Edge had his time and now it's Christian's time, and hopefully he can seize it and make something of it. Edge is missed, I miss having him around in certain aspects, but it's like when Stone Cold and The Rock left for me. It just opens the door for someone else, and that's always a positive.

There's so many good things coming out of Smackdown right now that I barely think of Edge anymore. Yeah, for a while there I wondered if the Blue Show would stay afloat compared to Cena-exclusive Raw. But it has, and through it we have seen quite the interesting bout in Orton vs. Christian. I'd go on record and say it's far more interesting then "Ya'll been holding me down but I'm the #1 Contender" storyline happening on Raw at the moment.

I was a big Edgehead since 2002, and even if his "Ultimate Oppurtunist" gimmick fell short with me, I had always admired who he was and what he brought to the ring. I miss him, but his absence is barely felt anymore. Just too many things all happening at once.

I don't miss him, even though he was one of my favorites, but I do feel his absence.

Smackdown is in serious need of some main event faces. Past Orton, if you can really count him as a face, you have NOTHING. Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara, those are the two closest things to a number two face. With Edge in the mix, he would have been good enough to feud with Sheamus or Henry, while Christian and Orton are working their program. He would be there to really solidify the main event scene. While Orton and Christian are putting on a great show, what happens with the other heels? They'll get relegated to doing stuff below the main event because the next closest faces are midcarders. That's where I miss Edge the most, as a face.

So the question is pretty basic....do you feel his absence? If so in a positive way or a negative way?

I don't even think about it , I liked him in his prime but I think he stayed his welcome and then some he had a long career and he accomplished everything there was to do at least a dozen times over so it was stale as hell to see him anymore anyway I guess

So no I don't "miss" Edge

I hated the Spear, but loved Edge. He was a great allrounder and one of the few true superstars on the show. He will be missed.

It's nice to see Sheamus getting pushed again, but maybe SD needs just one more star from Raw.

Orton and Christian have a nice thing going, but add just a little bit of oomph to the ME on SD. Kane is established and all, but tied up with Show at the moment.

To be perfectly honest Edge hasn’t entered my mind since he left. It’s not because I didn’t like him. If given the choice I would choose to have him back. Not to sound cold but out of sight out of mind. I’ve been watching WWE for 25 years now. I’ve seen a lot of guys come and go. Anytime a big name leaves the show just keeps going on. I mentioned Edge’s retirement to a friend of mine who is a casual fan that only watches occasionally. He didn’t know Edge retired and asked “What are they going to do now?” I just replied “the same thing they always do. Just keep on going.”

As a kid I wondered what it would be like when Hogan and Savage left. Would I still like wrestling? They both left and I kept on watching like nothing had changed. Same with Hart and Michaels. Same with Austin and Rock. Same with Angle and Jericho. Same with Batista and Michaels (again). Same with Taker and Triple H for the most part. And now same with Edge. The show just keeps going.

It's a cruel thread.
I feel Edge's absence of course I do, he always was a SD! type of guy (however is best work was at RAW), but the main event storyline for SmackDown is becoming pretty awesome, and for now the feud of the year.

Edge vs Christian is something that I always wanted to see, and Orton vs Christian does not have the same kinda of Dream Match like the first one.
But Christian is being pushed and he his having maybe his best work in the WWE.

SmackDown is becoming so damn good, that I can't miss Edge, but I'm pretty sure that down in the line, we all will miss the "Spear"!!

I definitley miss Edge. He was one of my favorite wrestlers on the roster. It's funny because I just got done watching his match vs Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 26. His star power is obviously missed too by the fans and management, but he is replaceable. It's just a matter of pushing the right person.
