Do The Washington Nationals Have The Best Pitcher Prospect And Hitter Propsect In MLB

In Strasburg & Harper?

Both are young and still developing, and are widely being hailed as future greats. Would you say that in these two, the Nats have the best pitcher prospect and hitter/fielder prospect in the MLB right now?

I think so unless someone has an example otherwise.

If so, you gotta think that the Nats' future looks bright in a few years since they'll have these blocks with which to build a solid team around. I guess that's what having top draft picks year in and year out for consecutive years will do for a team, a la the Detroit Lions of the NFL.

Strasburg surpassed prospect awhile ago. I suspect they'll let him off the innings cap leash they put him on at the start of the season, the way he's been pitching. He's arguably the best pitcher in the NL right now, though we shouldn't overlook his own teammate, Gio Gonzalez, who hasn't gotten as much press but has kept pace with his partner for a while.

Harper is easily the best hitting prospect in all of baseball, though.

With a trio of young, excellent pitchers, all of whom are under team control for awhile, and Harper coming up, the Nationals are going to be contending for a long time.
