Dixie Carter Vacates the World Title; New Champion to be Crowned

Her having a "great idea" and having to have the cameras off tells me we're going to end up with two champions here. Styles continues his story of defending the WHC over seas in AAA and Japan, claiming to be the TNA World Heavyweight Champion that Dixie & Co. refuse to recognize. Dixie essentially crowns a new champion with a new title, and at some point down the line, the dominoes collide and we have champion v. champion for the "undisputed" WHC of TNA.

The writing is on the wall, folks!

Thoughts on all this?

I Would love to see Austin Aries have a 2nd title reign same for Roode etc. Praying to God,Bully Ray does not become a 3 Time Champion. if we'll heading towards that then count me out, I have no interest in seeing Styles Vs Bully Ray round 2..

I'd like to see Magnus stay face, and win the title. That way they can go to England having one of their most over faces having the title. This makes TOO much sense. [Unless, they have someone else win, and then have Magnus go over them taking the belt their first night in England].

As I mentioned in a post the other day, I hope AJ stays away fro a while to really build that he is gone. I LIKE that he defending the title in other places. That is brilliant. I'm not exactly sure how they will bring him back, but I would REALLY like to see him come back bringing Matt Morgan, Crimson, Petey Williams, Jeff Jarrett and some others. It would be the first time I have cared about an Invasion angle since before I found out who "Them" were.

And the thing that sticks with me is how he said he was going to make Dixie Pay. She has already offered money and he said he didn't mean that. So I REALLY feel like he is going to try to take the company back for the originals, and what better way to do that then have Jarrett with him?

I wouldn't like to see this but it's probably what will happen... They will give it to Bully so he can feud with Anderson for the belt until Styles returns.

The logical choice would be Bobby Roode who can feud with Angle (who has been out of the title scene for some time) which can also feed into the Magnus heel turn that is slow burning presently via the EGO/ MEM storyline. I don't believe Bully will be chosen as he doesn't need the belt for the Anderson feud / A&8s implosion plus he isn't really what you'd picture as a corporation champ type.

As for AJ... well, this could be brilliant if played right. By Styles defending his title in other US and worldwide organisations, we could see what many have cried out for in TNA threads for so long - top international and independent wrestlers appearing on Impact. How they work that is the question - considering Dixie won't even allow HH's name to be mentioned, then how do we see AJ's progress on Impact?

When I saw the video earlier at first I thought it was dumb and unoriginal. Oh wow vacating the title. Big deal.

But then when I got over my initial reaction I understood there was nothing else they could have done if they want AJ to go international with the title in other companies.

Storyline wise he has no contract so why would they recognize him as their champ? It would have made zero sense for them to have him on the website as the champ.

Even though it would make logical sense what I hope we don't see is TNA threatening legal action against AJ if he doesn't return the title. I really hope they don't go down that road.

As far as crowning a new champ I don't really care how they do it. Tournament, battle royal, battle royal where the last two guys wrestle each other, King Of The Mountain anything is fine.

I'm with the people who want AJ to stay away for a while to make things interesting. I hope they have a cool plan in place to bring him back in.

Big question here for me is...

If AJ has now been "stripped" of the title, in a storyline sense doesn't that also mean he is now completely no longer under contract?

At least when Punk came back they let it be known that he re~signed. Hogan was the one promoting AJ to get a new contract but he turned it down, then Dixie tried to re~sign him and he turned it down. So who's going to claim they hired AJ back? It would make no sense if it was Dixie now.

I don't really like this angle. I do like having AJ defend the title elsewhere, but I think it would be better to not have someone else become the new champion. it doesn't make sense to me. you want focus on AJ defending the title in other promotions. but once you've named a new champion, what is AJ's title become? by naming a new champion, are you not then saying AJ's title is meaningless? why should fans care that AJ is defending the title belt he has, when TNA will have moved on and named a new champion. then when AJ comes back with his title belt, how can you make it mean anything? "newguyX" will be champion, and AJ's belt will be basically nothing. sorry AJ you left, so we're not going to recognize your championship anymore.

if they're going with this angle and going to have a new champion, I think Booby Roode is the perfect choice. if you're going to have someone to take on AJ when he returns, I would assume you want someone to be heel. you want the fan support to be for AJ to be cheered, so you should logically pick someone not to be cheered. I also think Bobby Roode could sell the best that he is the real heavyweight champion, even though AJ will be the one who never really lost the title so AJ should be the recognized champion.

I completely agree with you, especially if AJ's return doesn't come for a while.

AJ's leaving doesn't really have any impact to me because he didn't just walk out with it the same way Punk did. Punk was like "I won, I'm gone!" and then wasn't seen again until after there was a new champion crowned. AJ won it, stayed once to defend it, then went "I'm gone!" and was "stripped" of it.

AJ's leaving holds absolutely no weight with me, nor does the stripping, nor does the tournament, nor does the "defending elsewhere" and nor does the inevitable "real champion" match.

Definitely going to lead to a champion vs. champion match down the line. Maybe at Lockdown? The way things are looking, Magnus is going heel again and probably gonna get a crack at the top. Roode is always a possibility but I think he's gonna have his hands full with Angle for a bit. I doubt Bully is gonna have another run in the near future, which leaves possibly Aries, Hardy, Joe, and maybe James Storm?

What if there is no tournament, but instead, Dixie constantly puts up "bounties" to his opponents in all these other promotions to take the title, or beat him up so badly, he has to stop "defending". Or she somehow tries to influence the outcome of these matches? We've had the TNA title change hands before at another promotions card. Could we see it again?

I'm loving the current tournament. I love the survivor series 1998 feel and I can see them follow the same scenerio of whoever wins joining up with the corrupt leader. With the current storylines Bobby Roode or Magnua would be perfect as both fit the role of "corporate champion". I'm leaning towards Magnus as it will be fresh but everything Bobby Roode is involved in turns to gold so I wouldn't be against him winning.

Jeff Hardy could be a wild card and we get a re-do of his failed 2010 heel turn. A heel jeff Hardy is great and him vs AJ would be amazing matches.

If tna were smart they would let bobby or Magnus I hope it's Magnus because it would make more since storyline wise. Would let Magnus hold it till lockdown and maybe at against all odds have aj return and they have a title unification match at lockdown . Hell I'd pay to see that I don't care who wins because a awesome match with a even better storyline would mean we all win. Don't fuck up a storyline that could be potentially talked about for years tna.
