Dixie Carter teases a new talent signing; Carlito to TNA?

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
Oft-criticized Dixie Carter announced on her Twitter page early this morning that she finalized a deal with a wrestling free agent that the fans have been asking about.

TNADixie said:
Just signed a new talent contract on someone you guys have been asking about. Stay tuned!

Now I'm sure this will fuel the endless speculation that Paul Heyman is coming to TNA, but I seriously doubt such a signing would have been revealed over Twitter like this.

Various wrestlers have wrestled dark-matches over the last year for TNA including Kevin Thorne, Kenny Dykstra and most recently Katie Lea [Burchill], so if I'm a betting man, my money is one one of these free agents debuting with TNA soon.

Granted I'm not here to police your thoughts, but I'd ask that if you have no intentions to add to this thread outside of taking pot-shots at Dixie because of her propensity to hype TNA-related news via twitter, please direct your slights elsewhere.

That said, any ideas on who the new signing might be?

Update: "Pope" D'Angelo Dinero followed-up to Dixie's post by noting the following:

DaBlackPope said:
Just heard the news. Now THAT....That's Cool!~ PHS

Which could be a hint that Carlito is indeed coming to TNA.

TNA sign lot of people. TNA very rarely sign people the fans want. She also clearly states that it's somebody people have been asking about. But it's more a case of ''Whatever happened to........?''. That's the fatal flaw with this whole situation.

I agree with Jake. I'm sick and tired of the teasers, Twitters, and let downs. Dixie tries to hype everything up to the 100th power with her stupid Twitter messages. I wouldn't get too excited. It's probably a no-name never-was type wrestler. The good news is that they can start over with a blank slate. The bad news is that the blank slate is TNA.

The first name that came to mind was Carlito, especially since this signing comes almost immediately his non-compete expired. We know TNA doesn't mind taking on a guy with personal problems (e.g. Hardy, Hall, Waltman), so I imagine he's the signing. The three you mentioned just don't strike me as even being Tweet-worthy for Dixie.

What do you guys mean TNA doesn't sign people that the people want. Does the Young Bucks, Nigel McGuiness, Elijah Burke, and Kennedy not ring bells to you people. It's probably either Mickie James, Shelton Benjamin, or Katie Lee. I don't think it's Carlito because I haven't heard too much request for him besides he said he wasn't that interested in TNA at the moment not too long ago in an interview.

The "Stay Tuned!" at the end made me laugh a bit. Typical Dixie Carter; create ambiguous hype for something which, if past indicators say anything, is nothing.

WHY NOT JUST HAVE THE TALENT SHOW UP SUDDENLY AT AN IMPACT! TAPING FOR ONCE?!?!?! Why do we have to get repeated tweets from Dixie Carter begging us to watch soon for something that might happen and might or might not have any relevance?

The only person I could get reasonably excited about would be Shelton Benjamin, but I see no reason why TNA could do anything for him that WWE couldn't do. But he would be able to put on some decent X-Division matches, and maybe make that scene worth something again.

Shelton Benjamin already told TNA no. Him and Haas decided to sign with ROH instead I believe.

As far as to who the signing is, I'd say Katie Lee Burchill. She just wrestled a dark match like a week ago and she was in the WWE which automatically qualifies her for a job and a push in TNA.

Not again! For the love of God, don't tell me there's yet another vague and mysterious tweet from Dixie Carter promising yet another surprise! How many more times can she pull this stunt before the naive and ever gullible TNA faithful clue in that she's just blowing smoke. AGAIN!!

Let the theatrics begin. The tweets, the e-mails, the mysterious pictures, whatever. Can't sleep at night. Will change the wrestling world forever. Will be revealed at the next TNA PPV, so you better make sure you go and buy it. Until 2 hours before the PPV begins when she tweets: "psych! Gotcha, again!"

I don't doubt there's fact somewhere amongst the deception. But let's face it, she's giving the illusion that it will be someone significant, when in reality, anyone who has been paying attention for the last six months will know it won't be. Count on it, it's going to be Carlito, or Helms, or Haas, or some other hack like this. She'll dupe people into thinking it may be Heyman (which wouldn't even be a big deal anyway, more hype than substance if you ask me). Then surprise surprise, the debut of Mike Knox. Or Mickie James. Or some other WWE cast-off. Forget about going forward with guys like MCMG or Wolfe as I said in a thread earlier today. Oh no, it will be Shelton freakin' Benjamin or someone else that WWE didn't want.

And you guys are going to fall for it, hook, line and sinker, AGAIN! How much more of the deception will you tolerate before you get a little pissed off and frustrated, that's what I'd like to know.

What do you guys mean TNA doesn't sign people that the people want.

Well I did say rarely. That the kind of word I like to add to most sentences. I use it almost as much as I use the word ''almost''. It's my way of sitting on the fence.

TNA have this habit of signing people who fans don't want and didn't demand. TNA then push them anyway. I could name about half a dozen just from Hogans first show. And that's excluding ex n.W.o. members.

Does the Young Bucks, Nigel McGuiness, Elijah Burke, and Kennedy not ring bells to you people.

There's nobody in TNA with any of those names.

The "Stay Tuned!" at the end made me laugh a bit.

Me too, man. I interpreted it as: PLEASE DON'T STOP WATCHING.

I hope it's Mike Knox, I really like this guy he's a great talent. I couldn't believe it when WWE left him go he had so much in him, if TNA do sign him he could have something to do with the ECW angle because he was in ECW for a few years. Another good signing would be Mickie James she's one of the most popular woman wrestler today and she will bring some more credibility to the KO division.

Quite obvious a number of you either blatantly ignored or never read that little line I posted about not turning this into another "Dixie Carter is a moron" thread.

Anyone think it might be the return of Christopher Daniels? It's been stated and reported on various dirt sheet sites that he was fully expected to come back to TNA at some point or another, and I'm sure he's been the topic of questions from the fans asking where he's been considering his profile was kept up on the TNA Roster page for weeks after his release.

wow....it's pretty sad what people call hype nowadays. I don't know, her tweet just didnt scream "this is hype!" to me. It kinda sounded like when she tweeted about the young bucks signing. It had that "you want it, you got it" sorta feel to it

I agree that Dixie has been all hype lately. I'm not saying I hate her, I'm just embarrassed for her.

Anyway, I'm kind of leaning towards Gregory Helms. He's really close with Jeff Hardy and Shannon Moore and I think it's a matter of time before we see him show up. I don't think he'd bring a lot to the table at this point, but I wouldn't mind seeing him put on some good matches with some of the few X-division guys that are left.

IDR thinks it's Christopher Daniels. I'd personally be pretty geeked about it if it was. I just don't understand why they would hype someone they released in the past.

i've got a couple of guesses about the above referenced tweet:

1. World's Greatest Tag Team. these guys may or may not be true to your name, and i'm certainly not their biggest fans in singles action, but i think they'd do good in TNA as a tag team. their matches against MCMG and Beer Money, among others, could be quite entertaining.
2. Katie Lea or Mickie James. both would be good divisions to the KO division and both were recently let go by WWE.
3. Carlito. he needs a job and i hear TNA will always hire, never fire.
4. Hurricane Helms. i guess he'd have to go by his real name, unless the WWE somehow bought the copyright to that also. if Shannon Moore can have a job with TNA, i expect Helms could too as he's actually got a bit more talent and charisma.
5. Mike Knox. he's pretty good. the WWE wasted a real potential here. he may amount to nothing in the long run, or he could just surprise the world and do something amazing. i'd like to see him get the opportunity at least.

and my final guess is that no matter who is signed by TNA, it will not change the wrestling world forever and that, sooner than later, i will be disappointed... as before.

Young Bucks = Generation Me
Nigel McGuiness = Desmond Wolf
Elijah Burke = Pope Angelo DiNero
Kennedy = Mr Anderson

They are there all right.

As for TNADixie tweets. It's like when you find a beautiful the build up is amazing. You go for the kill and you discover she has a penis. What a let down. I like TNA apart from Mike Tenay and old has been wrestlers being used as cash cows.

I would like it to be an addition to the KO division. Do hoping for Katie Lee or Mickie James. Maybe even Kong returning. Something to kinda shake it up a bit.

I know that IDR's intention was that this would be mainly a thread in which Dixie Carter got bashed. It's a noble intention, but I think she actually deserves to get bashed a little. I'm long since over the various hyped TNA surprises and I just really don't care anymore. Dixie has cried wolf far too many times for me to really be all that interested in who it is.

Of course, I have little doubt that some are going to be endlessly speculating as to whether or not its Paul Heyman. I seriously doubt it's Heyman as Dixie has been trying to get him into TNA for so long that she'd probably shout it from the roof tops or streak topless through downtown Orlando with "I just signed Paul Heyman" spray painted across her jumblies. It might be someone along the lines of Shelton Benjamin or Mickie James and that's all well and good but I very much doubt it's going to be anybody to cream yourself over.

Dixie needs to cancel her twitter account. All she does in hype things that eventually disappoint. I don't care who she signs. I wouldn't be excited either way. A lot of names mentioned would be pretty lackluster. Especially if it was Ken Doane. Gregory Helms would be alright I suppose as long as they let him be a heel. I'd be shocked to see Shelton in a TNA ring. Other than those two, I could care less.

I'm revoking Dixie's internet privileges.

I have to agree with Judah's Lion and his post, but i also love to add and hopfully see Kevin Thorn make and (no pun intended) impact on TNA, He was one of the main reasons i saw the WW-E-cw. He had a few dark matches and from what i heard did well, plus he knows his way around the ring and we need a good dark gimmick and not abyss.

well... we can take this at face value only. hopefully its not some 'where are they now?' signing.

i hope to god she means christopher daniels. was a huge mistake to let him go. & only real tna fans understand how much he meant to the program.

if its gonna be anyone from wwe's past im hoping its gonna be one of these 5 (sheltons already said hes out.)

1. mike knox- tna needs a few more big guys & knox has a great mean streak. him vs rob terry, matt morgan, hernandez or abyss could be fantastic.

2. gregory helms- always thought he was funny & great in the ring. x division needs some help & he might be in time to save the day. (no superhero pun intended)

3. mickie james- would be awesome.....

4. carlito- ive always thought this guy would be huge given the right circumstances. his comedy is great & can really go when his mind is in the right place. mayb tna would get his head back in the game. would work good with lethal or eric young. they are fading back into the shadows & could use a nice fight.

5. shane douglas- here me out. he said he wont come back unless he can fight flair. so now ev2 & fortune are going at it.... gives ev2 more credibility on the mic & i get to see him punch flair in the face.

obviously haas\benjamin would be great but probly nt happening. if its katie lea or burchill im nt gonna be too excited. but with dixie, its either hit or miss. time will tell, until then....

If it's Christopher Daniels, then yeah, I might get excited. Daniels had a nice little push after Bound For Glory last year, and I wouldn't mind see him get some spotlight again, and I would also like it if TNA signed Katie Lea. I was a fan of her WWE run, and she would be a nice addition to the Knockouts division, because they really need some new talent in that department. I highly doubt Paul Heyman will sign with TNA, because it just doesn't seem like it's going to happen anymore. I know die hard ECW fans would be foaming at the mouth if they saw Heyman on Impact, because they would love to see him be a part of this EV2.0 VS Fortune angle, but I just can't see it happening.

There really aren't that many big names left out there, so I doubt too much of a fuss will be made about him or her.

sorry IDR. hard not to add said comments when posting any response that is TNA related. she is a big part of TNA, like it or not, and she does have a habit for crying wolf.

and off topic, but quite possibly the funniest thing i read on this site in a while and for sure in these posts was from D-Man:

"The good news is that they can start over with a blank slate. The bad news is that the blank slate is TNA."

besides the names previously listed in my first post, i'd be all about Daniels coming back in too. that would actually not be a letdown, as would most of the other names. Daniels would be good. and quite possibly maybe even the one name that fans are actually asking for.

Doesn't it seem like it's a weekly occurrence with Dixie now? Some vague tweet, a obscure rumor in an interview, etc, about signing someone "new" or a "big" surprise to come at the new Impact! tapings? And it always turns out to be a dud who gets released within 6 months. Disregard as usual

who the heck ever asked for the young bucks to be signed?? these guys have absolutely no superstar look, they remind me of my paperboy. and they are sloppy. on top of all that tna doesnt even use them.

seriously im so sick on tna signing people. they have a roster. they only have one 2 hour show and that doesnt accommodate the people they have right now. ill be very clear: there is not one person they could sign that would get me excited. in fact if they tweeted that they turned down people to stay loyal to the roster they have now and build them up id be happy.
