Divas will never earn respect.

We have bitched wined and complained about the divas not geting better. So its been over 3 years, and I dont think it going to happen. As long as they serve the men's hard on's, they wont be seen as real wrestlers. I mean think about it, most of the storylines for them is either "Going to a title randomly" or "That bitch poured Makeup on my hair!!". On top of bad acting, their mike skills are just bad, usally talking about going for or defending a title with a random bitch slap. I just want to see what you think. enjoy

They won't get respect when they have jobs as wrestlers based on the size of their silicone implants. I have no problem with modelling/stripping etc if that's what women want to do, but to pass them off as wrestlers annoys me when none of them are any good. I mean, if there was a male wrestler as bad as even the best diva, he'd be long gone by now. If they want a womens division to be respected they should not have slags who get over by showing their bodies.

On the same merit - Shall Vince tell all the male superstars who aren't great "wrestlers" to go away? I don't care if I like a Diva because she's hot, because she's assosciated with my favorite male wrestlers or because they're actually pretty good at wrestling, my main problem with female wrestlers is that they have so many that noone gives a crap about. I've no problem with the likes of Kelly Kelly being in the WWE, and I think the crowd reflects this.

You can do the same reasoning with male wrestlers, I couldn't care less if I liked a superstar because he is immensely strong, because he's funny or because he's actually a good wrestler. There have been plenty of main event superstars who've been miles away from Bret Hard in terms of techincal ability, and it doesn't bother anyone - Why should women have to be desexualised when it's perfectly fine for the female fans to go crazy whenever Jeff Hardy rips his shirt off?

Um, well yes, he kind of does. That's why we have people getting released..

You can like them for whatever reason you like. That doesn't mean I'll respect them though.

I don't remember saying that, and the comparison is silly. Hardy is a good wrestler. All of the main male wrestlers are good, or they wouldn't be in that position. For the last few years the womens division hasn't had one great diva.

The divas will never get respect because they don't have any divas who are wrestlers except for a SELECT few. They are all former gymnists, ballerinas, porn stars, yoga instructors or whatever the fuck they were. They have no wrestling background and they don't know how to wrestle.

They don't know what they are doing in the ring that's why we all walk away from the TV, or go to the concession stand, or if we are in are seats we are for the most part quiet. I can name the divas who get a reaction on one hand which is pathetic in 2009. There are a shit load of women who can put on a show, but the WWE wants eye candy. While they are good to look at, their performances are horrendous. The divas will never get respect as long as they are divas.

More because they're either a) Screw-ups (Kennedy, Cade) or b) Not Entertaining to the masses (Nunzio, Bam Neeley). Santino hasn't proven he can wrestle, nor has Great Khali, and to some extent you may say the same about the likes of Batista, but each has individual merits other than their wrestling that keeps them as viable employess.

You can like them for whatever reason you like. That doesn't mean I'll respect them though.

Oh, you don't have to, I just think that there has to be an understanding that it is possible to be liked by the fans just because you're good looking, it applies in all sports, it applies to actors, hell, it applies to most jobs out there, people get liked because of their looks - And since WWE is completely fan reaction dominated, there isn't a level of immorality about women being sexual objects if they understand it and are happy to do it.

Eh, of the few female fans of WWE I've spoken to, they've often said "He's so hot" of the likes of Hardy and Cena, well before they say "He's a good guy" or "I enjoy his wrestling", you can speak about it as a hardcore fan all you wish, but the casual fans will take into account someones looks when assessing who they enjoy.

coming from a female perspective i have to agree. i dont even remember the last time i watched a full diva's match without changing the channel. it's really sad to me to see that the wwe has no respect for the talented divas. like with gail kim, we all know her abilities and they were shown off so well in TNA but as soon as she's in wwe we have promos over her working out in slomo and having tag matches that last less than the commercial that follows. i know wwe has to cater to its large demographic of men but i think they would also like to see some talent in the ring too. i think if that they just get one feud with one good heel and face with a match that lasts longer than 3 minutes i think we can slowly get the divas division back to the trish/lita/victoria days

I think the reason that they don't get any respect is because there aren't any real or interesting storylines involving the divas right now, and there are just so many of them that are completely pointless to be there to begin with...like Rosa Mendez, Jillian, Layla, and insert another crappy diva of your choice here.

I started to have at least SOME faith in the divas when The Glamazon first showed up, but man...Beth can botch her fair share of moves in the matches that she's in, plus the whole Santino thing kind of ruined her...Beth had somewhat of a gimmick when she showed up, which I think made her stand out...Lita used to be the high flying one, Chyna was the dominant man jaw, Victoria was crazy at some point...but what kind of gimmicks are there now within the divas? I don't know if that causes the divas to get any respect, but geez, I think that it would kind of make the diva division a little bit more interesting

On another note - I've not really enjoyed Divas wrestling for a long time, but I actually quite like the Layla/Eve storyline and how they built it up, sure, it wasn't on the level of Lita-Trish, but it didn't need to be, it had it's place and it actually had some sort of storyline/focal point for the match (which wasn't the title), it really didn't matter that I had hardly seen them outside of interviewing/valeting/tag matches before - It was actually not too shabby.

:headscratch: I have to agree with Muttley. I think one of the big factors that the Divas have a bad rap is because of the storylines. They have nothing going for them in that department. With the recent return of Gail Kim, that could have been a great building block to build up to something with a meaningful storyline or something. Gail can get it done in the ring, and has the talent. Since coming back she's basically been a jobber. Might as well rename her Gailberg. WWE seems to focus more on the eye-candy perspective rather than the talent side of things. The Divas matches have become very popular bathroom or snack breaks for my friends and I whenever they come on as there is nothing appealing about them. To get the viewers back, apply the eye-candy factor a little, but at the same time bring in TALENTED WORKERS. Storylines for the Divas before were actually interesting. It's been far too long since we had matches that had the likes of Trish, Lita, Molly, Victoria and company. I think the only real Diva workers the company really has is Gail Kim, Beth Phoenix and Mickie James. Put Gail and Mickie into a storyline with meaning and I guarantee the ratings in that department will at least go up a little. If not, at least we have TNA to turn to to give us actual women's wrestling, unless of course they drop the ball on that, but let's keep our fingers crossed on that one. :xmen:

Does anybody take any women's sport seriously? I mean, I guess women's tennis is maybe slightly better than men's tennis right now but other than that is there any women's sport you'd watch over men? Hell no! Wrestling women are just as interesting as women's golf, the WNBA, softball, etc, NOT INTERESTING! Women should only be valets and eye candy. Thats the only reason I watch college softball and volleyball. I'll never take women wrestling seriously, not ever
