"Bikini" Style Divas?

The dva's aren't there to wrestle, pretty much everyone agrees on that. They aren't picked for ability, but rather who looks the best..loosely translated that means which diva has had the most silicone pumped into her. But anyway, seeings as the point of them is to look good, why don't they just do that? Random bikini contests, let them be managers, involved in storylines with the male wrestlers. Makes SO much more sense.

All the divas are hired primarily for their looks, the WWE would not put them on camera if they didn't think their image was marketable. Despite this, only the divas with actual wrestling talent and popularity are pushed up the ranks. Ironic that the divas that have had blatant work done (Jillian, Beth, Gail, Natalya) aren't deemed as pretty as the divas with less work done (Kelly, Maria, Michelle). Your last sentence would make sense, except what do we do with the divas that have proven themselves to be entertaining? There are a few divas that have put on better matches than many of the wrestlers in the men's undercard. The crowd dictates what they want to see and a solid match between 2 or more women that know what their doing inside the ring garners a better reaction than just a random, thrown together bikini contest.

Why is this a surprise? There has never been a secret that the Divas are there because they're hot. The division has been a joke for years since Trish and Lita left and it wasn't blowing anyone away back then either. The fact of the matter is this: the Divas aren't treated like regular wrestlers because they're not regular wrestlers. There's no drama in the division because it's so and so as champion, someone else challenges her for it, and it starts over again. When was the last time you saw true competitions in the division? By competition I mean more than one challenger and a real storyline other than the challenger has been picking up wins over the champion.

The reason why the division has had such simplistic storylines, are for that reason... they're simple. The division was left on life support when Trish and Lita left and has been slowly rebuilding themselves over the years. What's the point of the WWE running a bunch of elaborate feuds and angles for the division if there aren't any women with the power to keep the fans interested. The division lost their two biggest draws in 25 years around the same time, the division isn't going to magically recover automatically. 3 years later you have Michelle and Maryse being established as top heels and Mickie as a top face, the division is slowly beginning to create new stars for the division. And once the division has established these stars will you see an improvement in the storylines and feuds.

No one cared about that style, so they scrapped it. Going with this is the best way I guess, but if you think that the division is going to be anything special, you're sadly mistaken.

Seriously? The division seemed like a pretty big deal when Trish and Lita where still there, whose to say that the division won't rise to the same prominence again some day?
