Did This Dude Seriously Just Compare Hitler to Rusty?!

Rusty's owning him in the arguement so i guess thats the only way that other guy can get back at him, or make his arguement sound credible

You are correct sir, except for the part where you mentioned he is somehow making his argument look credible. I piss myself laughing when I read his responses, anyone with a quarter of a brain could fault them.

John Cena vs Adolf Hitler - WrestleMania 25 for the World Heavyweight Championship. You would still have some people booing Cena.

And he thinks Cena is the reason why people "tune away" from the product. When will these smarks ever learn?

Cena's not the only reason, but he probably has played a part in the decrease in viewership. After all, Cena is no Rock or Austin, which is what people want. When the casual viewer doesn't get that type of character, they tune out. There's no denying that Cena isn't in their league, in merchandise sales and what have you. But, he's not the sole cause to make people push the channel buttons while watching WWE, because no one in the WWE has the ability to be the stand-out guys that attract viewers.

Please note, this is in no way an attack on Cena's ability or "drawing ability" (whatever the fuck that is). It's simply a statement saying that Cena can't offer what people want, and neither can the rest of the WWE, so that technically has an impact on the viewership.

I think Cena could if he had more creative control in his character. I mean, that whole "Thug Life" gimmick he did when he was nothing was all him and that drew a lot of fans to him.

I really think guys like Cena, Morrison, Miz and Punk know today's generation and have the talent to get stuff over with the crowd today if they had the creative power to do so, but from what it has seemed like since around late 2002, if you disagree with creative or go off script, it's "going into business for yourself" instead of trying to get yourself over like Austin did at KOTR 1997. WWE is just too strict nowadays with their wrestlers. That's their biggest problem, in my opinion.

Do me a favour, and read the Cena thread please. I'm not going to repeat myself for the 100th time.

I mentioned that Cena shouldn't be blamed on his drawing ability, since he is the top drawer in the company at present. Plus, no matter if Austin or the Rock returns, the ratings will never be in the 6.0's again. The older fans have moved on.

I never said 'drawing ability' was a valid point. I said that the 'older fans' have tuned out because the main event guy (Cena) will never be like the Rock or Steve Austin, and in that same regard, neither will anyone else. So, in a sense, when people say 'Cena's the reason that people tune out', in my opinion, they are partly right. It's nothing against the man. He just has the impossible task of living up to R and A's legacy, lest the fans give up on the product. Which is what has happened.

Whether some accept it or not, comparisons do play a big part in how people view the product. It's not Cena's ability or 'overness' that determines how many people watch the show, it's how he stacks up against the quality of the WWE in previous years. If people aren't seeing the same quality of stuff they've seen beforehand, they don't watch it anymore. Simple as that.

You are aware even the Rock was getting boo'd while during face runs right?, in fact he and Cena tend to get pretty similar reactions from the crowd, Cena's are a bit more mixed though

Also if Austin & Rock came back full time, ratings would still not be hitting the 6.0 range, Wrestling popularity is just down right now, if you look at the history of wrestlings popularity it has a tendency to go through hot and cold streaks, and right now we are just stuck in he middle of a cold streak, even if you managed to get Austin, Rock, & Hogan all on the same show, ratings probably would still fail to hit 6.0

I totally agree with this. Wrestling is just down in popularity at the moment, and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

See, I'm not as optimistic. I really think that wrestling will never reach the heights it used to. It just can't. Nor will it maintain any high-ish rating. Once people move on from something in television, they don't come back.

I mean, the thing isn't even wrestling anymore. It's 'entertainment'. So when the average wrestling fan sees that the major company doesn't even use the word 'wrestling' anymore, I don't think they'll want to stay tuned. Not now, not ever.

I really don't think you can look into any 'patterns' with the popularity of wrestling, either. That's just silly. This isn't the stock market.

The Hitler analogy is the most commonly used on Earth. Who gives a fuck? The man wasn't comparing the poster's history of genocide to Hitler's, now was he? He was comparing an ideology.

People are so fickle whenever Hitler get's mentioned. Where's all the Pol Pot sensitivity? Oh wait, most people here have no idea who that is.

Do too.

Nah you're not in the group of posters on here I was referring to ED, you're one of the people here I truly respect as a poster.

What the fuck are you talking about? Is that just your mission on these forums? To completely make off the wall rants?

The guy compared Hitler and Rusty, a silly comparison by any stretch of the imagination. This thread was created to mock that person.

Oh, and on a side note, that ideology of Hitler's led to the destruction of millions. Just saying.

I've never had to do a presentation on him. In all the years of learning history in school we are just now getting to the twentieth century.

I took several years of history throughout school...never got past the Civil War.

True Story. And ridiculous.
