Darren Young comes out as gay

Then society is as plastic as the intelligent know it is. It doesn't matter what business he is in, there are openly homosexual sport stars all over the world in every sport, from basketball with Jason Collins to Freddie Lumberjg in soccer to Gareth Thomas in rugby to figure skaters, Olympic gold medal winning athletes - hell you name it and there is someone openly homosexual, even in the UFC Liz Carmouche is openly gay.

This isn't a "huge step," this isn't an achievement, this isn't something worth praise and the fact that there are LGBT groups around the world fighting for equality and to be viewed in the same light as hetrosexuals and you have a bunch of fucking morons like those in the WWE and the sheep who follow everything it says congratulating Darren Young... on being gay... is proof that this "progressive society" we live in is a facade.

It took courage, it doesn't merit praise.
I live in the bible belt where churches often stand outside the local gay bar and spew hate. It DOES take courage. It IS commendable that he came out. Just because you think that society should be better, doesn't mean it is. Get over yourself. You don't look smart being a super cynic, you look like an egocentric ass. Be the change you want to see and congratulate people on courage. I am honestly worried about the next house show they run here because of how ignorant people are.

I know this is old news now, but I really do respect him for making that move. I think that he had multiple motives in doing so. A smart move on his part. While everyone has their own beliefs and feelings for this matter, it really does take alot of courage to do that publicly. While other wrestlers may have been gay, I dont remember much of them coming out to the world like this case. Hes not the greatest talent, but I think this could make or break him. Lets see where this goes. .. .

I'm not saying that has to change. I'm just saying that those of you saying that the WWE shouldn't address this publically are wrong IMO. As I said, if the WWE completely act like nothing has happened and don't address this, I think that the fans in attendance will make his matches very uncomfortable. He can continue to be a member of the PTP and continue doing everything that he's been doing on screen, but they can't act like he never gave that interview.

Well, one match on TV completed, no mention via anyone on camera, and no chants from the crowd.

I'm glad that there were no chants, but I guarantee that there will be some from some fans before long. Don't get me wrong, it's not something that I want to happen, but some WWE fans haven't proven to be the most respectful of fans.

I just don't see what the issue would be of allowing D Young a little push off of this storyline. Then he can be the face of the Be A Star campaign and maybe hold a mid card title or something. Hell, even give the PTP a push off of this. Let them be the ones to defeat the Shield and become the tag champs. I think that it would help with publicity and such more then it would hurt.

Because Darren has done absolutely nothing since the Nexus angle except being Titus' lackey.

You're saying that just because he is gay, he should be pushed.

Why am I the only one who see something wrong with that?

No, he should get a push because he's done something that very few people not named the Rock has done and that's garnered the WWE some mainstream media attention. Imagine if he were to become a champion and a star within the WWE. Then the 'E could say, "Hey look, one of our top guys is gay and he's a champion". The publicity for the WWE would be great and btw, I've seen people get pushed for less.

Which in turn could help other athletes decide that the time is right for them to stop denying who they are. Jason Collins in the NBA, then Darren, and hopefully with a show of support by the fans, others will feel that society is ready to know and then ignore a persons sexuality in place of celebrating their talent and capabilities.
