Dark Knight Rises Teaser Trailer

The Dark Knight managed to be the 3rd highest grossing movie of ALL TIME within a few months.

Harry Potter is considerably lower on the list.

We aren't comparing one movie, we are comparing the Dark Knight Trilogy right?
In that case Batman Begins + Dark Knight...
Well, they are going to be close and Warner Brothers will love them both xD

Calm down batman fanboys, nobody is even talking shit about batman.

I'm not a fan of either series of movies, though I did enjoy BB a great deal, so if anything I'm more of a fan of the Batman series; but lets be real here, as Mr. Sherman has said multiple times, the HP fanbase reaches more people in this day and age than Batman. You guys are also kidding yourselves if you don't think Heath Ledgers death played a part in huge opening weekend and overall box office numbers, and there's no Ledger or Joker to help anchor this film.

You're comparing Harry Potter movies to Batman movies that were made over a decade ago, when things were totally different, movie attendances in general never got anywhere close to where they are today, and the cost of tickets was substantially less that they are now, so yeah try again bitch

:lmao:

Thank for allowing me to laugh.

Again, I'll restate it, DKR will out-do Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part II in whatever bracket you want. Worldwide, overseas, opening weekend, fucking sales on how much popcorn is bought by consumers watching the movies.

This brought attention to the series, no question. However, the quality of the film made it the draw it was. Right around the release, the hype was about the film, and the characters, not a dead celebrity.

We will see, but still it will be damn close the both of them.. I am going to watch the both, so they can count on my money to the gross

(Just for that I'm not buying popcorns when I go see DKR)

Warner bros laugh at this thread all the way to the bank. You're going to see both so does it really matter?

Oh and there's been a trailer out for a couple weeks that I
Sure is going to be this trailer. Supposedly TDKR's trailer played in front of GL in Italian theaters. If it was a fake it was pretty amazingly done. If you remember the teaser for TDK, that's pretty much all it is.

It brought more than attention to the series, it's the reason why even though BB is a far better overall film people just can't help but cream over TDK. His death turned that film into a fucking phenomenon, it was a good film, but not the "masterpiece" everyone makes it out to be.

I'm also not saying that I don't think the new one is going to draw big numbers, but over the last fifteen years, Harry Potter has been far more relevant than Batman, and there's no real denying that; this is the closing film and everyone was left on a cliffhanger after the last one. I wouldn't even consider myself a fan of the series; but it takes a blind man not to see just how popular Harry Potter has become.

That is a lie...
Batman Begins is an awesome movie as well and the gross was $371,853,783 (Worldwide)

Another example... Inception was by far one of the best movies last year, directed by Chris Nolan (that should have won at least 2 oscars now) and the gross was: - $820,186,685 (Worldwide), a lot of HP movies made more money than it...

Its not always the quality, but the media attention they have, and Harry Potter is more iconic than Batman in the 2000's...

First off no I didn't, you are quoting a completely different poster.

Secondly what you said earlier implied that people were saying that batman has no mass appeal and nobody cares about it, and nobody had said that. That was all that my only comment in this thread was saying.

I know I didn’t quote you. I was pointing out that Jay Sherman said that Batman doesn’t have mass world wide appeal when compared to Batman. You said that no one said that, I was just showing you that it was said. See:

Yes he is as well known. He is an cultural icon but he still does not have the mass appeal world wide of Potter, I hate saying that as Batman > Potter, but I am also a realist. So its true I will gladly take a bet with anyone here on betting HP:Finale will outgross Nolan Batman.

Even though you denied it, you did say that in 2011 Harry Potter would reign supreme

And no one is talking shit about Potter.

No one is comparing who is better, or who would win in a fight, it’s (surprisingly) been about what film would make more money.

Lets see how much Batman films would make if they released 8 of them over a 10 year period. Significantly less than the Potter franchise overall would be my guess.

The trailer won't be anything special. It'll likely feature Christian Bale's deathly dull Bruce Wayne/Batman in abundance with maybe the final shot being a close up of Bane with the possibility of their being a "meow" of some kind at the end.

No one here is claiming that it was a masterpiece. I do agree that, while The Dark Knight is excellent, it's overblown.

But the box office numbers have proven that Batman is more popular than Potter.

Maybe not you, but my statement was a generalization, and most people I've seen post on this site feel that way.

But the box office numbers have proven that Batman is more popular than Potter.

No, not at all. Potter has grossed way more overall, while TDK grossed the single highest film out of the bunch, it wasn't that much more than the recent Potter film.

Box office favors Potter, no matter how you slice it.

Holy FUCK man, stay on topic.

There is a reason why I've just been chatting with Jay Sherman and SNS regarding this topic. They are the two that bring valid points and intelligent conversation.

Hey calm down I was kidding...
You can say all you want, but I have brought proofs for who draws more money.. HP or Batman...

I know I didn’t quote you. I was pointing out that Jay Sherman said that Batman doesn’t have mass world wide appeal when compared to Batman. You said that no one said that, I was just showing you that it was said. See:

Bullshit

Hell, SNS, even you said that Potter was reigned supreme when the box offices have shown other wise.

That quote is saying that I was the one saying it.

Also I was saying that nobody said that batman has no mass appeal and nobody cares about it which is still true. Jay was saying that doesn't have as much of that as Harry Potter. There is a big fucking difference.

I haven't even said which I think will do better, I was just pointing out the bullshit that you were saying earlier in the thread and you have just continued lying throughout.

It is going to be a hell of a fight...
Well, in the next few days we will have HP entry, next year the Batman one!! (please somebody write it down in the calendar);

Now stopping the fight, are you going to see HP - Part 2? I am going in the opening day :D

Maybe not you, but my statement was a generalization, and most people I've seen post on this site feel that way.

Fair enough. I'm enjoying this little chat.

No, not at all. Potter has grossed way more overall, while TDK grossed the single highest film out of the bunch, it wasn't that much more than the recent Potter film.

Box office favors Potter, no matter how you slice it.

Of course 8 big budget films will bring in more money than 2 films. But it can't be said that Harry Potter is more popular today, because box office numbers show that Batman is just as, if not more, popular.

Hey calm down I was kidding...
You can say all you want, but I have brought proofs for who draws more money.. HP or Batman...

Again, you are comparing 8 movies as a whole, to 2 movies as a whole and that doesn't paint an acurate portrait. If you look at individual movies, Batman walks out the winner.
