Daniel Bryan: A Pathetic Excuse For Future Endeavoured...

I blame Michael Cole, he told people for so long Bryan sucks people started to believe it.
I mean it's possible for someone not liking him. I think he's great, I marked out on his speech against Michae Cole on the first season of NXT and I like his passion and intensity shown in WWE and from what I saw when he was in ROH.

I was very angry when he started turning into a cowardly heel, I thought it was WWE trying to bury his talent, but he really rised to occasion and I think the heel change has been a total success. This past Smackdown he really looked dominant the way he dissected Punk and Punk had to really come back in the match to be competitive.

For me Daniel Bryan in a bright spot in today's WWE. He always puts on a good match and is one of those guys in the lockerroom that you can tell, he wants to be there and he loves what he does. I wish I could say that for more people in WWE as easily.

People, people: believe it or not, Daniel Bryan is growing in his role. His promos have become better (or he may have simply become comfortable holding the mic: whoever thought of the veggie bit was genius), and combined with his wrestling prowess and the way the bookers have handled mah man D-Bry's title reign (the slow morphing into Mark Henry's Napoleon with corresponding complex; the feud with the Big Show; the veggie advocacy; the repeated, and succesful, attempts at weaseling out of troublesome matches; and Santino), his title reign is a surprisingly pleasant one.

And this is coming from a guy who thought Daniel Bryan and a title reign don't match, that Daniel Bryan simply lacked the qualities of a main-event mainstay back when he pinned the Big Show. He's made a believer out of me.

Kudos all around: the creative, Show and Henry, and especially mah man D-Bry.

:)

i see people complaining about how he was booked leading up to his title win, and they act like it hurt his "credibility". That was kind of the point. His character is built on a guy that everyone(all the wrestlers) thinks shouldn't be champion. He somehow finds a way to beat his opponent. He gets past the fact that they are bigger, stronger, and sometimes (kayfab) better in the ring then him, but he still ends up beating them, by using his intelligence. He is booked as a crafty little bastard that just finds one lupole and capitalizes on it.

And now to him being over. He is way over. Like i said before, he is more over than any other heel on smackdown. You guys act like because your part of the iwc that you are supposed to like him if he is over. No. He is not a cool heel. He isn't trying to be a cool heel. He is trying to be a heel that someone beats the shit out of. He is your jbl, your bobby heenan, he is the guy that you shouldn't want to buy merchendise off of. He is a guy that when he is put in a a chamber with the big show, you cant wait for it to be down to just them two. Just so he cant get out of it.

The OP is wrong about a ton of things but let us begin with something he is actually right about. Daniel Bryan had not really set the stage on fire prior to his MITB win. Whether he "deserved" to win the MITB or not because of that is another matter. As we have seen over the last few years, the MITB has been at times used to make stars from scratch rather than a rising star being given the briefcase to push him further. Daniel Bryan, on the very basis of the fact that he had done some good work in the WWE and was probably the biggest name never to have wrestled for either WWE or TNA prior to 2010, deserved to be given that chance.

Either way what we should focus on is what he has done after being given the grand opportunity of being a world heavyweight champion, and if you are being honest with yourself, you would have to say that he has not done a bad job. Be it the manipulative boyfriend or as the obnoxious vegan, Daniel Bryan has managed to draw more heat in the weeks that he has been champion than any of the other heels on Smackdown. Yes, it has had something to do with the roles of Cody Rhodes and Mark Henry being marginalised somewhat after Bryan has become champion but all in all I cannot see what there is to complain about this move.

Now as I read the OP I see five names that the OP feels were held back by Bryan. And this is where he goes horribly wrong. Christian, Mark Henry and Miz all had lengthy reigns before Bryan got a shot. All three have been sidelined a bit but it has hardly been because of Bryan. Christian got injured and Big Mark was working through multiple injuries which is what has led to him working a smaller role on Smackdown. Despite all that both guys are still very much over. The way I see it Bryan was given a chance to get over by the guys that were already over stepping aside in order to make Bryan a star. It hasn't hurt the guys who were over in the first place in any way.

Coming to Miz, The Miz has been sidelined due to reasons that did not concern Bryan at all. I mean, they are on different shows for God's sake. Plus, he had a ready made feud with Truth post Survivor Series. If that hasn't taken off, how can Bryan be held guilty for that.

About Cody, I would say that he was the guy I thought would win the MITB as well. But I guess that WWE decided to go an entirely different route with pushing him and guess what...it has worked. Cody is incredibly over these days. Remember that the MITB is a bit of a risk. Guys like Swagger, Kennedy and Punk in his first win failed to capitalise on the MITB win. Maybe WWE did not want to take that chance with him. Also Cody has not been affected in any way by not winning the MITB. His stock has continued to rise.

Coming to the final name that was Barrett, isn't is hypocritical to say that Bryan did not deserve to win the MITB based on the fact that he was drawing little heat while saying that Barrett who was doing worse than Bryan deserved to win the MITB?

No, thats just the problem. People are acting like DB is the best they've seen when we're obviously seen better superstars, notice I didnt say mat wrestlers. I just think people on the internet shouldnt be so appalled that others dont like DB or find anything special about him.

People are big fans of him, its what fans do with wrestlers they like, they will defend them. Its happened since wrestling in the 80's. And especially in the 90's and attitude era and monday night wars. Its always going to happen with every superstar. Whether its Cena, Bryan, Santino or Tyler Reks. There are those out there that believe one of their favourite wrestlers are the dogs bollocks.

The thing is I'm grown. When I see a heel on TV he doesnt make me legit mad. I applaud them for being a good heel though. Wade Barrett, Kane, Dolph Ziggler and ADR are perfect examples of some of the people I enjoy watching who happen to be heels. DB annoys me not because hes a heel trying to get under my skin, but because amongst the "embrace the hate", "show off", and "destiny" gimmicks, the guy whos entire character consists only of yelling yes is the one in the main event.

I didnt necessarily mean that you in particular think like that, but thats the common goal in these characters from the WWE's perspective. It always has been. It is more relevant to the common fan than the "smarter" fans. Most of this board i suppose would think how you do, i certainly do. I dont see faces or heels anymore like i did when i was younger. I see characters and wrestling ability which is what makes me back someone.

But its a fact that hes not getting nearly as big as a reaction as a champion is supposed to get. The position of champion is supposed to be for the person who gets the most cheers or boos. Hes supposed to represent the company. There are other guys on the roster who get bigger reactions and have been in the main event scene for longer. They deserve it more than DB whos been pushed way too fast in his career. How is it that a guy who has never won a midcard title is going to main event WM and as the World Champion too?

Yes i do agree others are getting bigger reactions, but not many. Mark Henry's reactions wern't much bigger, Alberto Del Rios reactions when champion was about the same as Bryans now. One thing ive noticed with Bryan on RAW, not Smackdown where boo's and cheers can be edited in, is his heat has slowly gotten a bit louder each week. Maybe not enough as you say, but something is being built and with time he could get some really big heat. I could actually see him using a seriously dubious method to retaining the World title at Wrestlemania. Which could draw some more heat from those who were waiting to see him get beaten. And Daniel Bryan was US champ for a long time, so he has won a midcard title. But same goes for ADR Really. He was thrust into the same spot albeit by winning the rumble which hasnt done much for his credibility anyway.

Yes they do get over. Sheamus and John Cena are prime examples. Once people get over the whole idea that muscle men cant put on a good match they'll open their eyes and realize that you cant have a tiny man as champion fighting all these huge guys. It makes no sense. I know wrestling is scripted but it has to retain some form of reality. Like Batista said, when he was in there during the Cena days there were men who looked like they could legit fight. No person on earth can look at DB and think he would last a second against Mark Henry or Big Show in a legit fight.

I wouldnt say Sheamus is a typical muscle man. Im talking about those like Batista, Ultimate Warrior, Mason Ryan, Hercules etc etc. Weve seen so many come in with little to no wrestling skill just because they look good. Cena and Sheamus can wrestle and put on a good performance.

Hassan got plenty of heat and even earned a match with Taker. Masters had the master lock challenge that was really impressive. Heindreich had a great rivalry with taker. These guys, while they had cheesy gimmicks, were credible. They looked like fighters and they acted like them too. Grown men dont go around yelling YES YES.

Hassan i would say was more in the upper midcard where guys like Ziggler and Ryder are currently. That nook thats not quite at Main event status but still above the midcard. So thats why i didnt class him in there. Masters and Heidenrich i dont remember ever getting hear. Once Heidenrich lost Heyman he looked lost as he couldnt talk on the mic and his ring skills were totally poor. Masters only got a reaction when someone almost powered out of the Master lock. Other than that i dont recall his getting anything like a decent reaction until he started dancing with his pecs. Maybe they looked more credible, but sometimes looking more credible doesnt get you over. As ive said, a look is just a look. At the time Masters wasnt good in the ring at all. He improved when he got rehired ill grant him that, Heidrenrich was sloppy and just not worth anytime.

Reports are coming out of the Smackdown show in Wahington Daniel Bryan's hometown that he was super over and when he hit a move the crowd would yell YES!

Wouldn't this suggest that Bryan has made it? I mean who else has something like this apart from the WOO Chop (Flair) or the What chant (Austin)??

Bryan is the man!!!
