CM Punk tribute to the Macho Man

I just realized that now my fave 3 wrestlers of all time have passed away, and I didn't get to see either of them in the flesh....Mr Perfect Curt Henning....Chris...Beniot, and now Savage...<sigh>

I hope now that the WWE will release a "proper" DVD release highlighting the career of the Macho Man...while I enjoyed the one that came out a few years ago, I want the "story" like so many others, Jake, Curt etc, and not just the matches with Stryker doing his standup routine

The Punk thing was great but I think Kofi payed a lil tribute w/ his attire being more colorful than usual and sorry Del Rio but CM Punk will be taking your parking spot for Summerslam. So did anybody else notice the way Punk name on the back of his tights were but it was shades of Macho Man esque which took me a while to fig out that. I hope Punk stays w/ the WWE and just gets an "injury" angle so he can take a short vacation then come back better.

It was an extremely classy move. I wondered why he was wearing shorts earlier, but then it became obvious--it was to hide the trunks so as not to ruin the surprise when he came out for the match. I marked out for the (attempted) elbow at OTL. The tribute video made me cry, but Punk put a smile back on my face. He gets a lot of support from a certain niche in the crowd, but Truth was actually able to lead the crowd in a "CM Punk" chant at one point. I'm sure he won over a lot of people tonight that he hadn't before.

what punk did tonight was great... but, if you look back, he wears the trunks with the stars on the butt quite often, still a class move though

The stars that Punk usually has on his trunks are 6 pointed stars lined up in a row. Which is on the flag of the city of Chicago.

Tonight, he had 5 pointed stars that were not lined up in a row.

Also remember sunday nite he had Macho Man written on his taped hands and did the flying elbow off the ropes durin the match.
ive always been a fan of Punk and have a even bigger respect for him. ive been upset since hearin the news of Machos passing and this brighten my night seein him payin tribute to a true pioneer of wrestling.
Thank you Punk.

Untill you guys pointed this out I didn't even realize , but I find CM Punk to be going for some kind of odd Freddy Mercury look from the neck up already so then the pink/yellow had me kind of thinking whats going on with him? lol

Punk fair seems like a class act, mad props to the guy, one of the most consistently solid performers the WWE has on the roster, too.

I thought the same thing about Punks trunks. I'm happy to know I wasn't the only one who noticed the tribute.

i have a new found respect for cm punk, to pay tribute to the macho man the way he did was great i am surprised a lot of the other superstars didn't something similar, thoughts

I have to agree with Biggshow here... CM Punks tribute I think was even better than the video montage...

Its a shame Jay Lethal is not with TNA anymore as that could of been huge... ooooooh yeah

Yea, Mysterio paid tribute to Mach by wearing all black {WCW-nWo circa}. So mad props to both him and Punk for that class act.
I totally agree with you. Rey also seems to be paying respect as he is in all black. CM Punk is under-rated much like Macho Man was. Macho Man had the shadow of Hulkamania and Punk has Super Cena. I have been a Punk fan for a while now and this just increases it.

i figured that much, but the punk trunks is what caught everybody's eye. have always love rey to classy guy.

i got so emotional during this, it brought flashbacks of when i would see macho man come into the ring i use to grab my bed sheets and imitate him. one of my favorites of all time. taken way to early

Macho Man was one of the greats and he definitely be remeber up there with the likes of Hogan, Flair, SCSA, and other greats. He was flamboyant and he did everything his own way. In a time where characters tried there best to stand out. He was the brightest of them all. Hats off to CM Punk. Not only did he have MACHO on his wrap. He also did the classic finger twirl on his way down the ramp during OTL. Im glad he did it because it would've seemed scripted if Cena came out and did it. All the tributes were awesome and the WWE did a great job with them.

I loved it Sunday night at Over The Limit with the Macho Man elbow drop attempt and I loved the attire last night also. Punk is a man who pays respect to people. I remember he paid tribute to the late Misawa when he passed by having his wrists taped with Misawa's name emblazoned on them. A classy dude in that regard.

Does anyone remember when Punk was on commentary sporting a Colt Cabana t-shirt under his jacket? The man is a hero when it comes to shout-outs.

I always like CM Punk since his TNA days (except for the straight edge part), and last night i liked him more. The tights he wore were really Macho Manesque thats really paying tribute to one of the all-time greats, the only thing that was missing was punk doing a top-rope elbow drop.

R.I.P Macho Man

That was a very cool thing to do by Punk. I noticed that it looked like something Macho Man would wear, but now I noticed that it's almost the exact attire Savage wore at Wrestlemania III.
Also Punk is one of the few non-fat guys next to Savage who can pull off a full beard (Sorry, Orton, but you're failing miserably).

I was just about to say this.

After reading the always-awesome Bill Simmons article about Macho Man, I realized the pink trunks with the 3 stard and the yellow boots/knee pads is the EXACT same thing Savage wore at Mania III.

Really awesome to see this. I knew he was doing it as soon as he came out with Nexus for the tag match. I thought "He never wears two different colors" And then it hit me. It looked great too.

Nice job Punk.

kudos to punk.nobody on roster did something like that and also at over the limit he had MACHO written on his hand .

The only way that could have been better is if WWE let Punk go over in the main event last night with a flying elbow on Cena or Rey to win the match.

THAT would have been the ultimate!

The "Tribute" was great. And the fact of the matter is that tribute to Randy Savage was for all of those people who remember him. Those of us who remember what it was like to be totally engrossed by the product because honestly it was just better. the younger fans wouldn't of gotten it because that was sort of an "insider" thing. chances are they were all confused as to why their parents and the older folks were cheering like mad when Punk did those things.

Punk is and always will be the most interesting guy on the Raw roster if not the WWE.

Bet you The Macho Man was up there with all the boys going...
"Heeeeeey Maaan check this out his gonah (yeah) do mah move (yeah)...OOOOOOOH YEEEAAAAH.

Macho will be missed.

I want to say that seeing C.M. wear the WrestleMania 3 ring attire of Mach almost brought a tear to my eye. It was a real class thing to do, and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to do it but Punk.

To me, Punk is like the Savage of this era. Not afraid to say what he thinks. Makes a great face, but an even better Heel. Top Notch on the mic, no one in the WWE at this moment beats him. And he's under-rated by the top brass.

The Madness will always live on. R.I.P. Mach.
