CM Punk in the bad books?

Rated K for Kennedy... Kennedy!

Talk loud, hit harder!
Having just read a story on the main site that Mr Punk has been in some hot water lately for being too sloppy at house shows and not listening to agent's advice, I was wondering what people's take on this story was?!

Personally I can see why WWE is p'od but also I can see why Punk didn't listen, he's clearly trying to stand out, he realises he's as popular as he is because he has a different in ring style and isn't just genenric and boring, what do you think?!

Has anyone been to an ECW House Show and can shed some light on his "Sloppiness"?!

All points of view welcome!

IMO ecw is being treated like a piece of crap by the wwe at the moment, i feel that with the whole chavo vs punk angle and punk losing to nearly everyone but elijah burke i dont understand it, punk is a main eventer for a reason and is wrestling the wwe's style what more do they want he isnt arrogant, he isnt like bortista who does three moves and its over, he has elevated his game and thus elevated the ecw title.

but if this story is true who else are they gonna push once the punk chavo feud is over, ecw isnt really a great breeding ground for baby faces at the moment, kofi kingston is not near enough ready yet, tommy dreamer wont get a push even if he tries, balls mahoney is like non-existant and i wouldnt be surprised if he was released, kevin thorn is back in ovw, there is no one credible without a build who isnt on smackdown, my problem is if you want ecw to succeed treat it like the brand it should be, break ties with smackdown, if you want the cruisers there then put them there take the cruiser title over there bring in the ecw tag titles and leave the cross branded stuff alone!

And as for punk the wwe needs him he is an asset to them, there is no one else that they have who doesnt do drugs he is a prime example of what a wrestler should be, so if anyone tries to put him in the dog house hell be right back out coz the wwe needs his star power

I look at CM Punk as the Hogan or Cena of ECW. He's the ultimate good guy on the show. WWE always takes minor things and tries to make it an issue. I remember when Atlas told Punk that the higher ups didn't want him to wear hand wraps. I don't see what difference it makes anyway. It doesn't make him any less of a champion. WWE needs to get off their high horse and realize they have someone that could be one of their biggest stars in the future.

^^^yea and that big and future bright star seems to have an attitude problem which won't get you far in the WWE...i think what punk needs to do is realize that he can't beat the powers that be and go out and give it his best and keep his mouth shut....i meen i was happy that he final got his run as ECW champ...but he just seems to come off as an a-hole...if he don't change up he's gonna learn things the hardway...i wouldn't be surprised if he got shifted down the card...just my personal opinion...

I don't see why the hand wraps are a big deal either, if that's what the higher ups wanted him to lose. CM Punk is indeed distinctive and although I'd much rather see him wrestling in ROH, I have to say that he has been getting a good run in the WWE until recently. Hopefully he makes a successful winning comeback and the issues get resolved somehow.

On a side note, I remember when Nova was in the OVW and the WWE wanted him to cut his hair 'cause he resembled Triple H. Maybe they think CM Punk resembles Marc Mero lol j/k.

When Chavo took the ECW title my first thoughts were that that was just a way to pave CM Punk's way out of the ECW. But if he's not getting out (I'd really like to see him on Raw) I can understand that he's pissed. He has been at the top of ECW for so long now, if they don't draft him soon his career will be severely damaged.

what from being on top of ECW to midcarding on raw or smackdown?, how would his career be damaged?

CM Punk's career is at an all time high, ECW is wwe's best programming by far IMO count how many matches ECW had this week, see the quality of the programming as far as im concerned Punk belongs in the land of Extreme

some people think punk is in the doghouse because he lost the belt, but everyone has to lose at some point and wwe isnt always good at choosing when and who.

also that he lost to edge on smackdown, but edge is the top guy and everyone else jobs to the top guy....thats just the wwe

I saw Punk at a house show recently, and I thought he looked fine. His moves were quick and it looked good. I am guessing this is just a rumor. However, I think WWE needs to shape up and doing something big with Punk. He is one of their biggest stars on ECW and I think he has the potential to be one of WWE's biggest stars in the future, that is if they let him.

This is WWE being hypocritical at it's best. WWE has always had a habit of pushing people that they didn't create which is exactly what's going on right now. Punk is so insanely over with the crowd it's not even funny. He could come out there and drink pepsi for ten minutes and the crowd would cheer him. His matches are fine and far less sloppy than other main event caliber wrestlers. When Khali was world champion, he was very sloppy with just about everything he does, yet I don't remember hearing any complaints about him from the higher ups. This happens whenever there's someone that Vince didn't hand pick that gets over, they get in troubnle for somethign that another person would skate by on.

Well...in fairness, when people go to a WWE event, do you think they say "I can't wait to see the Khali Vice Grip" or do they say "I can't wait to see how tall that guy really is." when talking about Khali? The man doesn't have to be perfect in the ring. He has an aura around him thanks to his massive size.

CM Punk, on the other hand, isn't a guy you go to see...just to see. His wrestling is what you're going for with regards to him.

Now, I think the story is just rumors. It seems like anytime Punk loses a match, a new story pops up about him being in trouble despite the fact that he's still in the ECW main event and still be treated as the future of the business. There is a logical explanation for most of things that occur.

I remember reading somewhere that the writing staff loved Morrison and hated Punk and that's why Punk didn't just win the title from Morrison. The reason Morrison beat Punk so much was to elevate Morrison as champion, since the title was rushed onto him, which would allow for a bigger moment when Punk won the title. If you just have Punk beat Morrison...what happened? Punk beat Johnny Nitro. Hooray. However, go back and watch the match where he won the title. All those times he lost built to the moment that he pinned Morrison and the crowd just explodes. Great moment.

Anyway, outside of that ramble, I hope I got my point across.

This is true about punk being one of those guys you pay to see. THe problem I have with wwe getting on him about it, is what in the hell do they plan on doing if he doesn't fix it? Put him on any part of the card you want and he'll get the biggest pop, take the title away from him and he's still the biggest draw on ecw. We all know he can wrestle as well as anyone on the show. It's not like they can just leave him off the show. I can't really see much of a solution to this for wwe, other than just hope he gets better. Also, when i referenced khali, i was just using him as an example. You could put just about anyone in that name slot.

Seems like Santino and Carlito took a shot at Punk! :(

I personally love all 3 guys, Santino is a complete bellend on the mic, Carlito is a cocky little shit and CM Punk is a legend!

House shows dont mean a thing in regards to ribs all superstars get them it means absolutly nothing, i cant believe how badly people are taking this, punk is the only main eventer worth a damn in ecw

so as far as im concerned please stop thinking they are holding him back because there is no one in ecw (facewise) apart from tommy dreamer who is already working in a match for the tag straps

I hate ECW, it should be dropped, its too confusing, the rosters pathetic, and i'd say' unless they did something quick to make it credible again, they should drop it', but i think its too late. It reminds me alot of the NWO angle, they rushed it, it fell apart, it didnt go as planned, and before long they just had to ditch it, and it was a god awful shame too. The rosters crap, and i HATE this smackdown cross brand thing theyre doing, stay on your own show! They might as well just put up a sign saying, 'we realise its shit, thats why we have to do this'. Chavo isnt world championship material, CM punk was good, until they started making him lose matches against everybody.
I dont understand the way that, not long ago, the ECW title was contended by RVD, Sabu, Kurt Angle, Big show, Lashley, Benoit. Strictly main event players, now its barely run by mid card wrestlers, id expect to see punk n chavo in the cruiserweight division if ECW wasnt occupying there time. Balls Mahoney, boogeyman, mike knox, Nunzio, kevin thorn, where are they? Big daddy V, hes huge, and ruthless, trouble with him is hes far too good!!! chavo vs Daddy V? my god hed kill him! Its nothing against them either because they are good, but i hate the way theyre dressing ECW up to be great, with its own show, as its own brand, but they have a minimal roster, no real main event status (you wont be seeing Chavo guerrero vs the Miz at the top of wrestlemanias bill any time soon) yet they destroy it with shitty gimmicks, no credible talent and a confusing and mixed up system. i think ECWs gone terribly wrong and now they need to figure out, how to drag themselves out of this mess, before they take alot of talented wrestlers with it. As for CM Punks attitude, id be pissed off if i knew i was the only credible champion on ECW and then someone from smackdown, involved me in the worst storyline of all time, and took my title. I havent witnessed any of this attitude problem my self BUT.... did anybody else notice at no way out, the crowd verbally destroy him when he started imitating eddie guerrero? Bad move Punk, you may be a former ECW champ but that dont mean you can get pops on behalf of one of the greatest ever (specially when its his nephew your working against)

Personally I think CM Punk is ok at best in the WWE. His good stuff was with Ring of Honor. He is lucky to have the spotlight that he has now. He just needs to capitalize and keep his ears open & mouth shut. As far as sloppiness goes, he can be at times( I've seen him wrestle live quite a few times) he go through the motions like most of the wreslers in the company seem to. As far as his match 2 weeks ago with Shelton & Elijah...omg how horrible was it for him and Burke to work together. I swear that moment when them two locked up made Jackie Gayda look good in her first run.

I agree. In the grand scheme of things, house shows don’t carry much weight. The typical non-IWC fan isn’t going to know anything about the rib. If anything, the rib by Carlito looks bad on him, unprofessional if you will.

I don’t buy into the rumor there is backstage heat on Punk. Somebody clearly likes him and must think highly of him given the fact that he was on Smackdown for a few weeks straight and he was on the last two RAWs. I sense they are trying to get his name/face out there to fans who may not watch ECW, and I don’t think he’d be getting pushed if the backstage heat was true.

Also Punk very cleanly went over Carlito last Monday night. To me, I think that says who the WWE value more at this point in time.

I saw a house show with Punk against Big Daddy V for ECW Championship last year. It obviously had a typical DQ finish as titles don't generally change at house shows and they were still pushing Big Daddy at the time. Punk handled his acting quite well and for the minute of wrestling before Matt Striker interfered Punk did a decent job, usual quick kicks and a big shining wizard to keep everyone happy.

Yeah the theory about Vince being hypocritcal of superstars getting huge pops when they weren't intended to may be right. After all to him if it's not Triple H, a champion, a respected legend or a new and debuting smiley babyface then he's pissed off.
