Christopher Daniels - Back as CURRY MAN!

He is terrible as Curry Man! That gimmick may have worked in Japan, but they like crazy shit over there anyway!

He doesn't even do any of his Fallen Angel moves. I've got a bad feeling that he might become X Division Champion sometime this year. :(

I'm still having the hardest time knowing this is Christopher Daniels. First, its hard because I've just never seen Daniels with hair, and yet there is hair hanging out of the back of the mask.

When they show facial shots, you can sorta see him through the eye holes, and know its him through the eyes. But then you see the stupid dancing, and it just brings you back to thinking.. "okay, this can't be the guy once known as 'The Fallen Angel' because its too completely different gimmicks, on opposite sides."

I think the reason this gimmick worked in Japan, is because its the very heart and soul of Japanese commericals. The ones with the bright colors, and sudden flutter lights. Everything about this gimmick, the dancing, the colors, the look.. it screams Japan commercial.

I love Curry Man I think it's hilarious. As long as it's Curry Man it's not Daniels, they are meant to be 2 different gimmicks which is the exact reason for the mask. I think it's funny. I would thouh prefer Daniels back and would love to see him with a push. He's one of my favorite wrestlers. I don't think he would ever be main event, but he would be great in a heel stable or as a mid card level belt holder. He's definitely about Jay Lethal and that set but you cannot put him in the Angle set because he just still looks a bit to small.

I would find this gimmick hilarious if it was not Daniels being wasted under the mask. I think that the Curry Man gimmick is so over the top and cheesy that for some reason it works. I would rather of had somebody else would have come in for this role and have Daniels still with the Fallen Angel gimmick. But I guess having Christopher Daniels wrestling as Curry Man is better than Christopher Daniels not wrestling at all.

Daniels could be great, instead of pushing him though we got segements with Kevin Nash and Angle, what a joke. They should never have had him face Sting, Angle would have been a better choice of opponent, no-one really got Daniels gimmick copying Sting it was late WCW-ish, the guy has tremendous ability in ring, his matches with Joe and Styles are awsome, but the guy needs a solid push, and some mic skills. If I was going to push him I'd give him a feud when he comes back, or stops dressing as curry man with Christian, simply because if there is anyone who would be able to get him over it would be him.

Curry Man is a pretty funny gimmick and it gets over as a crowd favorite but it is a jobber gimmick much like Shark Boys. TNA had a chance to utilize Christopher Daniels properly when he was one of their top contenders. Even when he was a tag team with AJ Styles, he could have been elevated to the main event. However, they decided not to elevate him and instead he was buried and is now Curry Man. Christopher Daniels could have been a top talent but now all his momentum is gone. They should give him back his Fallen Angel gimmick a make him a top heel in the X Division since its really lacking in good heels.

Personally, I think the whole Curry Man thing is working far better than "Stone Cold Shark Boy," but that's a whole other thread. I watched Impact the other night and could not stop cracking up during his (Curry Man's) entrance. I think TNA has handled this gimmick very well.

And as far as the gimmick holding Christopher Daniels back, I have to agree. But then again, look at the last time they refreshed his gimmick, it really didn't work that well. I think that this is a good move by TNA, still having him involved, and in the meantime sorta giving him a build, if you know it's him anyway...

And after everything, I think the Curry Man gimmick was Daniels' own creation, back from his days in Japan. there was talk years back of him bringing it back, so personally, this time around I wasn't surprised when they brought it out. For the meantime, it's entertaining, and isn't that the whole point?

I really like the Curry Man gimmick, its fun and its great to see the whole crowd dancing along:icon_smile:

The funny thing is that when Daniels was fired on the show some people were saying "They should make him Curry Man" and now there are a lot of people insulting it. I think that the problem with some fans is just they didnt/dont know it is Daniels character in Japan and just see it as a crappy TNA gimmick.

Hopefully he will stick around a while, until the whole Main Event scene calms down a bit and then comes back for a big push.

I think Curry Man is funny but what I don't like is now when he is introduced they put weird backgrounds and stuff behind him. It's much better when he just comes to the ring dancing in my opinion. When they make him look like he's in a 80s dance video it just crosses the line to stupid.

If you look at the close ups on curry man it shows that he has long hair. unless he's wearing a wig. I think it's a great gimmick, but as someone mentioned before it is a waste of such a talented performer. Hopefully he will come back and knock the socks off of everyone.

I honestly have to ask, is that really Christopher Daniels? Because, when he left he was bawled no? Looking at Curry Man, he looks like he has a full head of black hair which would make no sense if that really was Daniels.

Other then the fact Shark boy and Curry Man are always fighting the same people (3D) every night; I don't have a problem with it. It's getting repetitive, the matches anyway. I still love his entrance, and think he's a perfectly fine comedic character, and the crowd loves him. Why complain? Be entertained.

i think the people that made the mask put hair on it so it does not look like daniels to sell he was fired. if they made it look like him then people would know he was not fired. they should have given it to senshi or rick steiner or killings because they were leaving anyway i much prefer the fallen angel gimmick so tna bad move

Everytime Curry Man comes out I get the vibe that he might be THE most over guy in TNA.

Seriously the crowd is always loud and roudy for his entrance, and I'm not surprised, his character is easily the most fun and light-hearted in the whole of televised wrestling imo (even above Jimmy Wang Yang)

I enjoy Curry Man a lot. After Jay Lethal he is probably my favorite in TNA.

Honestly I found the Fallen Angel gimmick rather boring.

I like the Curry Man gimmick and find it to be hilarious. Everytime he comes out i find myself laughing and its good to add a semi-comedic presence to TNA as it lacks that too a point. I dont think that the Curry Man gimmick is holding Daniels back, he was fired, so its not like he can do anything else for a while, and his Fallen Angle gimmick wasn't going anywhere when he was fired. I would guess that eventually it will be revealed that he is under the mask and he will be welcomed back as a face, but for now i actually like Curry Man, unlike most of the gimmics in TNA, like Stone Cold Shark Boy.

I like the Curry Man gimmick also.. but not under Christopher Daniels, The Fallen Angel Gimmick would do Christopher Daniels alot more Justice as he could of as alot of people have said before hand have been a big player in TNA Wrestling if givin the opportunity to be in more feuds and develop he's character as a Evil Heel. Kinda like James Mitchell but as a wrestler, Just pure Evil.

He's hot!! He's spicy!! lol It's a very entertaing gimmick. Hopefully it doesn't last too long. Christopher Daniels is such a tremendous wrestlers & I hope the monkeys in the back can come up with something for his "return".

Is Elix Skipper still with TNA? Cause if he is they could maybe build Elix Skipper using Curry Man. Elix could look puzzled when they face off like he recognises the face behind Curry Man. A good little fued could come out of it. Maybe involving the X Division Title somewhere.

Christopher Daniels never got a chance to show this kind of charisma as The Fallen Angel.

Curry Man/Christopher Daniels is high in my list of favourite wrestlers

I think that you people need to step back and take a look at this whole thing for just a minute. Christopher Daniels has been doing the "Fallen Angel" gimmick for well over a decade now and it was getting to the point of where people were really not even caring anymore who he was. It was starting to fall by the wayside with other such great gimmicks as SD Jones, The Brooklyn Brawler, and Iron Mike Sharp. In other words, he was starting to look like an overdressed jobber in the average fans eyes. Losing to Sting didn't hurt him because he lacked the emotion to be able to step up at that time with the Fallen Angel gimmick. So what did they do? They brought back Triple X to try and stir up some early TNA nostalgia with the TNA loyalists. What happened? Nobody cared. So here lies Curry Man.

To be honest, I think it's a nice change and chance for Daniels to exercise his range and start to develop a huge personality and show he can have fun at the same time. Hell, even Hogan had to take time off with the same old gimmick and go a different way for a while to get the fans interest again. And to be honest, it's not like he can never go back to being The Fallen Angel again. He's a MASKED WRESTLER FOR GOD'S SAKE!

So when The Fallen Angel finally does come back, he will be a much more well rounded wrestler and perhaps will finally get the upper mid-card push that he deserves. But until then, I think I'm going to enjoy the hot, spicy new gimmick that looks pretty darned good to me. The only thing that I'm not too crazy about is his Japanese. It actually sounds like an American speaking Japanese. Maybe this will lead to an angle where Daniels gets found out. Who knows. It's still pretty entertaining.

Exactly. Everyone is complaining that Daniels deserves better and is now just another jobber with Shark Boy. One, people are enjoying this gimmick and its going over fairly nice. Two, if Daniels returns as the Fallen Angel, he or TNA never have to even mention he was Curry Man. Sure, most of the fans will know, but as far as creditbility goes Daniels was never a jobber with Shark Boy. Finally, what would Daniels be doing now anyway. Low Ki left so XXX is gone, the world title and X title scenes are pretty set, and the women's division is coming along greatly with plenty of TV time. When you think about it, Curry Man is actually protecting Daniels because he would more than likely be at the begining of the show amongst the Shark Boys and Lance Hoyts anyway. This way he can come back with no mention of Curry Man, and it will be as if Daniels was never getting whooped by Team 3D.

I have assumed that he eventually take off the mask and reveal that is was Chris Daniels all along. Since he got fired, it would kind of be like the Mr. America thing with Hogan. If Curryman continues to look fairly strong this would actually help Daniels when he took the mask off. I hope they do do it this way, since everyone knows it is him anyway.

I don't understand people saying he deserves better... it was HIS Japanese gimmick. It's not like TNA shoved some random character onto him; it was a character he had already done for a long time in Japan and for stints in ROH. Sure we can miss Christopher Daniels' heel charisma and BME but really his character was growing stale and his face personality was kinda bland so this was a good way to revitalize him. I wouldn't mind seeing this gimmick go for a while, it's not like he's jobbing to everyone or anything.

Now, I'm a new fan of TNA. When I started watching iMPACT, the thing that caught my attention was Daniels' ability and technique. It's almost like an insult to give him some jobber,no talent,joke-grabbing persona to deal with. Get rid of curry man and bring back the one of the few true, pure wrestlers to ever step into the ring.

I don't understand why they fired Daniels in the first place! They should have fired BG James and given Triple X the tag title shot. Now, 'The Fallen Angel' must settle as a mid-carder teaming with Shark Boy to face Team 3D in a Fish Marker Street Fight tonight. WHAT A JOKE!

And Daniels wasn't a mid-carder before?

I like it, although admittedly I miss the Fallen Angel gimmick too. Nothing against Curryman, but that gimmick is better in use for the Japanese wrestling market.

Exactly. Years ago, in an interview with Pro Wrestling Insider (you can debate the credibility of that publication if you want, I'm just stating where I read it) he was asked what the future would hold for his character, and the Curry Man gimmick came up. He said he would have liked to bring it back eventually, as long as TNA would go with it.

Well, it looks as though that has came to fruition. Like it or not, it is HIS idea and it will be HIS gimmick for the time being. Once it is all over with, it will make HIS return to the Fallen Angel character that much more awesome...
