Christian is the NEW Intercontinental Champion!

I would of loved to seen Christian in the WWE title picture, I think Punk, DB and he could of put on a great show at No Way Out. IC is fine with me, and it will hopefully give a little more meaning to it.

Know what this thread is missing? Pictures of Christian with the intercontinental title. Here:

There - now the thread is nice and prettied up.

Small, slow and old. The only time I was ever impressed with him was when he and Edge were in the TLC matches. Other than that, boring.

I've no idea how you've come to this conclusion. Perhaps you're just coming off the receiving end of a bad trip and you don't know which way is up. I like to play it safe; drink Red Bull. Ooh, the wall is melting!

Now that I'm done tripping my balls off from a potent cocktail of Lucozade and Mountain Dew, I want to confront your adjectives. First, small? It's nice that you've used your time machine to travel from the sixties, but don't bring the attitude with you. Black people have equal rights and people the size of Shawn Michaels win world titles on a regular basis - get used to it.

Secondly, slow? Nope. I don't know what to tell you. I suppose when you're used to the rip-roaring pace of Randy Orton's methodical stomping or have just come off watching those lightning quick Big Show/Mark Henry main events, you might think that. Christian's as quick and as agile as anybody else in a WWE ring. I don't know anybody else that leaps from the ring out to the floor in one move on a weekly basis.

To complete our holy trinity of adjectives, old? He's thirty-eight. Maybe if he was a professional football player or mixed martial artist, this'd be a problem. Maybe we'd have to do what we did with Randy Couture and take him to the glue factory. Christian's a performer - as long as he can perform, which he can, we don't have a problem.

Now go treat yourself to one of the half dozen of those classic Orton/Christian encounters last year, or his ladder or cage matches with Albero Del Rio, or perhaps some of his more underrated work in ECW and TNA - stuff with Jack Swagger or Samoa Joe.

The more perceptive among you will realise that I rather rate Christian. I have Christian pyjamas, Christian bedsheets and eat Christian-Os in the mornings. Well, I don't - but I would if I could. If it were up to me, Christian would win the world heavyweight belt and then wear it so long that it started to bond with his skin. At the start of Over The Limit, my hype meter went from 0 to 60 in about five seconds when I realised A) a Christian face turn was on the cards, and B) he was totally over with the crowd. Let's not forget that Over The Limit 2011 was the scene of what I reckon is probably the best Orton/Christian encounter of the lot, and that's saying something.

I'm actually rather pleased that Christian's won the intercontinental title and rather glad that he's a face. I was watching the Shawn/Bret documentary last night - took them forever to finally cry - and Shawn claimed that the intercontinental title was for those that the company recognised as workhorses but not necessarily as draws in and of themselves. Christian fits rather neatly into that pocket. Furthermore, I can finally cheer him without felling like a doofus - or more of a doofus than I normally do when watching sweaty men in tights grapple with one another. I reckon Christian can get a serviceable match out of just about anyone, and - as a midcard champion - he could be wrestling just about anyone from week to week. Any Raw or SmackDown could benefit from throwing Christian and a random opponent out there for a ten minute match. Personally, I'm hoping for a Rey Mysterio feud. In fact, that'd probably be enough to pull me away from my debilitating energy drink addiction.

I thought it was a great move on the part of WWE creative. The mid-card titles still need that feeling of importance and Christian will be a great title holder hopefully defending against all challengers. The IC/US titles desperately still need some relevance and while Cody Rhodes was a great way to kickstart that momentum, Christian will be another great addition. This is one case where I feel that even though his last title was the World title, this is not a demotion. Christian genuinely looked excited to have won at OTL and that's a step in the right direction. If Christian can defend against all challengers and have a few meaningful feuds, it will do wonders for the prestige of the belt. Christian is not only a great performer, but I feel he'll be a great teacher as well, giving younger guys great matches.

Even though I was hoping to get one Punk vs Bryan PPV match given what happened when we last saw Christian, this is a great move by WWE.

At the moment SD has a couple of promising new heels in Sandow and Cesaro who would benefit greatly from working with a very over veteran for the IC belt, and that is just the tip of the iceberg of the mid card guys that could be elevated challenging Christian, especially with the 3 hour Raw's surely providing room for some longer mid card matches.

Christian is great on the mic, a good worker, vastly experienced and very over, he's ideal for a good run with mic and match time, and in the end could really make the next big mid card guy, Sandow being my personal pick.

I liked the fact that Christian returned and got a title right away. That, I liked. However, Christian proved with his last heel turn that's he capable of being a much better heel and can main-event with the best of them. Anyone who says Christian isn't a capable WWE superstar to carry the company hasn't really paid attention to his work. His matches with Orton and Sheamus on Smackdown after the turn showed how adaptable he is and he had great matches with both guys. The only thing I didn't like about his heel turn was how weak he looked. He was a much stronger heel in TNA and came across as a capable badass when need be. The guy is really over whether he's a face or a heel, which is a rare quality in the WWE these days.

I'd like to see Christian get a great IC title reign and then drop the title to an up-and-coming new star and return to the main events. Maybe the WWE Title this time instead of the World Title. Christian should get a decent WWE Title reign before he retires to truly showcase his talent and prove the haters wrong.

Great move by WWE putting the IC title back on Captain Charisma.

I look forward to seeing Rhodes and Christian battle it out over the title, its about time the IC belt had a good feud over it, I did not really enjoy the Rhodes v Big Show feud, and Christian will guarantee a good match, which is brilliant.

I see Christian in sort of the Jericho mould- he is never going to be THE guy in WWE, but he is over enough, experienced and good enough to be a credible World title challenger at any time, but also easily capable of dropping back to the mid-card to feud at IC title level, which Y2J was able to do for years.

Christian will be world champion again I expect at some point, but for now the Intercontinental Title looks great round his waist, and I look forward to seeing where he takes it, and who he feuds with. I prefer him as a heel, but a face Christian v a heel Rhodes should be very interesting.

I'm glad he is back yet i think the title win could have waited after a good feud with Rhodes. These two could bring back "legitimacy" back to the IC belt and would be a really incredible feud. Then Christian gets the belt and rhodes moves into the main event.

The best thing about his return is the fact that he will be a face. Faces are desperately needed as there are way to many heels.

i wanna make sure he gives off the rub but not his essence. he is a great I-C champion, E&C were great tag team champions, I thought he looked so great in that hall way with the WHC over his shoulder as Edge walked thru saying his farewells to the 15 or 20 so wrestlers gathered in that walk way. that moment was when i bought him as a World champion too. He brought stability and strength to ECW. I think his second WHC reign took more away from him then him being I-C champ again. How Edge took off quicker and stayed in the clouds way longer is debatable and consists of variables that aren't the doing of either two men.. I would had rather seen Cody beat big show at mania, Christian take it from Cody and they feud on even footing the whole time. That would help Cody alot since Christian is still more then eligible to flirt in the main even spot for periods of time.
