I live in new orleans so i was there when they had the rumble . Me and my wife were in the cheap seats of course but out of all the matches i remember seeing live and now think of this i have watched wrestling for 24 years and have gone to many live events the benoit jericho match is right up there with steamboat and flair going at it in the dome. like i said he is one of my alltime faves i have a realy hard time believing he did something aweful I pray for his kids and his family and just hope he and eddie are together again in a better place

I can only wonder who those other 2 people are that Edge mentioned... saying that two are now gone... I can only assume its either Owen Hart, or Eddie, but I dont Edge was close with Eddie, Owen possibly since they both grew up together as Canadian wrestlers...

When I first came home tonight, they were playing Benoit vs. JBL Steel Cage from last year. At first I was thinking "Is this part of Vince McMahon 'Memorial'?"
Then by looking at the bottom screen it was saying "Remembering Chris, Daniel and Nancy Benoit". Immediately, I was looking up sites and the WWE site to see if this is for real, and to my shock it was. Benoit is one of the most talented and respected technical wrestlers in wrestling, and to lose someone who defines what pure wrestling is to this generation is like losing a piece of yourself. I have seen Benoit's work in the ring over the years (even some I haven't known), and I will say he was a tremendous athlete, and it saddens me (I almost broke into tears) to hear about this tragedy. When I noticed during the PPV last night when they said that Benoit couldn't make it because of a family emergency, my mind started to think it was a kayfabe excuse to put the title on Nitro and job out Benoit from it, and now hearing this, I really, REALLY hope they drop this whole McMahon "death" thing because it's starting to get really serious and scary to hear about 2 deaths in less than a week.

Obviously my favorite Chris Benoit moment was at WrestleMania 20, when he and the Late Eddie Guerrero were standing in the ring. Eddie with the WWE Championship and Chris with his new World Heavyweight Championship, and the two of them hugged and celebrated. I was standing and clapping for both of them and almost lost myself in thought to see both talented wrestlers finally get to the top.

R.I.P. Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit, and Daniel Benoit. May the light send you to your eternal rest

Fox News has posted a video report on their website: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,286673,00.html

what I find odd is, MSNBC briefly mentioned it became a murder suicide, and haven't mentioned a thing since. Yet their website, and that of Fox News, are still saying it was murder.

I still can't believe the man is gone...speculation comes with mourning, and you can't help but wonder why, how...it was just unexpected. So all speculation aside, rest in peace Chris Benoit. You've entertained millions of fans in your amazing career, and those who had the opportunity to go one on one with you in the ring, and grow from that experience will help set the scene of professional wrestling far beyond the years of us all. Thank you.

This is gonna be tough to watch... Benoit and Guererro hugging each other at WrestleMania with their championship belts, and now they're gone...

I clicked and there's a story but no vid?

Another tragic update from Fox News:

Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being investigated as a murder-suicide, but said that could not be confirmed until the evidence was examined by a crime lab.

WAGA reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and son over the weekend, and then himself sometime Monday.

A concerned neighbor called police. The bodies were found in three different rooms.

To all the staff and administrators of the WWE my sincere condolonces to you all

If you take all of the stories being reported and piece them together then something is definitely amiss. Based on the fact that it is summer, you can rule out carbon monoxide poisoning. The latest I have heard is that the situation is still being investigated as a murder-suicide, that there were no gunshot or stabbing wounds but that the "instruments of death were located at the scene." Doesn't make a lot of sense. Obviously, everything will come out when the authorities deem necessary. What a bad situation. I am still betting on the wife as being the one to blame for this nonsense.

I hate to speculate, but you know all of us are right now. In hearing Chavo's dedication, he said he spoke to Benoit the night before he died (yesterday), and seeing that they're close, I'm sure Benoit told him what the family emergency was. That being said, notice Chavo didn't mention anything about how wonderful his wife was, or anything about his wife. I think Chavo knows who probably did it, and it was probably his wife. As sad as that is, it would make sense considering all the circumstances surrounding this situation. Not sure how she would have done it, but other than "KS", usually for these type of things you don't have to look further than someone's spouse. Since reports are saying this could be a murder-suicide, it looks even more like this is the case.

This is just horrible.

another great wrestler gone why is this happening why is all the great ones going before their time i still havent gotten over owen or eddie and now chris this is so tough

I hope that ^ is fox news bullshiting again! Omg that is sick to even suggest, and if it is true I am going to feel guilty for watching a memorial show on a man who did this. However I dont believe he did, RIP benoit.

Fox news said it was being investigated as a Homicide, which is partly true as this is a rather odd event. We can only wait until the autopsy results comes in, in a few weeks. Until then lets not speculate on what happened.

God, I hate to be the one that posts this, but Atlanta news has an unconfirmed report that the wife and Kid were suffocated and Benoit was found hung. Murder-suicide is what the DA says has occurred.

A concerned neighbour? I thought WWE alerted officials? And benoit only left the PPV before it started.. how did he kill them over the weekend? What motive would he have... he was on top of the world.

I seem to remember someone calling me a MORON for suggesting this was NOT accidental carbon monoxide poisoning. NWO_HOGAN, do youhave an apology there for me??

I'm devastated by this, but I told you all, my experience as a Detective was telling me this was no accident.

This is beginning to get nasty. Please for the love of god dont let Benoit be the killer.

As someone mentioned it would make a mockery of the memorial and the tears i have shed over this.

Man i dont know what to think now.

Chris was the reason I started watching wrestling, and when he came over to the WWF from WCW, I came with him. I honestly have no need to watch wrestling anymore. RIP Chris Benoit and Family.

Please say Benoit didnt do this, this just gets fucking worse and worse!! ANy one have any news to counter these claims on fox news?
