can punk keep his title without cheating

Dark Match Winner
Ever since the only reason won the title off of jeff hardy only since he was leaving the company, he was made to look weak on a screwjob on smackdown. Punk submitted in the middle of the ring to the hell's gate and ut should have won the title because of that but since cm punk can't win without cheating they screwed the undertaker and I don't think this made punk be a credible champion at all. I am just sick of how everyone is thinking how punk is the best champion when this win made him look like he can't keep the belt by himself, he looked like a little b**** in the way the match ended. If i would have paid for that ppv I would have been extremly pissed off in the way it ended since it just made punk look weak and whatnot. If they want to build up punk as a champ they need to give him legitmite wins not these screw job cheat wins, since that just makes him look like a weak heel. I know edge was the same way cheat to win but even edge got legitmate pinfall victories in ppvs without cheating and not just because of a guy leaving. Even jehrico, orton, and all the the other main event heels do as well because they are credible when it comes to big ppv matches, unlike cm punk which i said before can't hold onto a title or win a title on his own unless the superstar is leaving the wwe and they need to get the belt off of him.
Until I see otherwise I am almost tempted to stop watching smackdown since in my opinion the only reasons to are to see the dynasty and morrison. As bad as raw is and as much as i don't like cena it will be a breath of fresh air and hopefully not the same old shit.

Yes I spoke my mind, so now i expect to hear everyone say how great punk is and how he needed this win.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Of course he needed the win. He was coming out off a great Summerslam and cage match with Hardy and how would it look if he just lost the belt to Undertaker like that? Every heel cheats to keep titles so you must haven't been watching wrestling very night. This doesn't make Taker look weak. It gives him all the more incentive to destroy Punk at the next PPV.

Silly, sillly post.

I totally agree, like what the hell is the point of a heel if the dont cheat? Are they suppose to always win clean. This is the first time CM Punk has cheated to win, so if a heel doesnt cheat to win at some point they how will they be a credible heel. Wrestling 101 for sir, Orton is a credible heel, hell the last pay per view, he tried to used every trick in the book to win so you knocking Punks door down questioning if he's a credible champ is dumb. Wheres Punks big win right, let him develop his character man, what its been only 1-3 months since he became a heel, they need to build his heel credibility and his champion credible at the sametime and that takes time. Orton began champ in a clean way, how many times did it take for him to become a credible champ.

This is the first time CM Punk has cheated to win
Actually its not the 1st, The 1st time happened when he faced hardy and he pretended his eye was injured so he could get a quick rollup. In the next match he cheated again when he pushed the ref in the next ppv encounter against hardy, so he could keep his title by dq. In reality the only time he didn't cheat to win was when he was going to get the belt anyway since hardy was going to leave the company.

I reject that claim that in wrestling feigning an injury is cheating. Cheating is an intentional breaking of the rules, and there has never been a rule in professional wrestling stating you can't do that. Bret Hart used to do it in almost every match he was in. So to me it's not an act of cheating, but once a performer utilizes that gimmick it is up to the company then to decide how to use it within the context of building the person's character- is it an act of a wily competitor (Hart), or the unethical act of desperate coward (Punk).

As far as the second match, Punk cheated to retain, not to win. A small matter of semantics.

In response to the original post, I don't think it really makes Punk look bad in the grand scheme. First of all, no one would believe Punk going clean over 'Taker in a submission match. 'Taker winning would hurt Punk's credibility more because once again Punk would have an abbreviated reign at a time when WWE desperately needs new blood in its main event scene. I'm not crazy about the short run-time of the match and initially I felt that rehashing the Montreal screw job again reeked of a lack of creativity. However, upon reflection I have to say though, despite all the questions going into the match as to how WWE was going to set up the finish no on really seemed to expect this particular ending. Additionally, it will bring more heat onto Punk, which is good for any heel champion

What the hell's the point of a heel having a championship if he doesn't cheat to retain it? Cheating is what heels do for God's sake. Punk needed to win this match and the only way to do it without either guy looking weak was to have Punk cheat to do it. Taker didn't tap, he's been kept a strong challenger and "should have won" but Teddy Long did a screwjob scenario and now Taker has even more inscentive to take Punk down.

Punk is easily the top heel in the WWE right now and last night's match only cemented that statement. Everything that needed to happen happened and it happened in a very creative and entertaining way. I'm sure, against some competitors, the WWE would have Punk retaining the title without cheating, but Taker isn't one of them. At least, not at this time. Punk gained credibility and he'll gain even more still by the time the feud is finished.

First off, Punk feigned injury then kicked the ref. He then lost the title clean, then won it back in TLC and won clean in a cage. There "technically" hasn't been any cheating yet, albeit the "eye injury" was intentional.

That aside, the CORE of being a heel is being a lying, cheating, manipulative bastard. Punk is soaring in that catagory, and now with a (possibly evil) GM in his back pocket, only good things can (hopefully) happen. He just has to get past Hell In A Cell, Taker's signature match.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing them go one more PPV with Taker chasing and finish off Punk at Survivor Series in a casket match or something...just let us enjoy Punk's reign a little bit longer before the Deadman derails it and goes on to feud with....uh, I dunno.

I will gladly sacrifice this plan for the first UT/Jericho match (in the states, at least) at Survivor Series.

The only reason why Punk won is becase Teddy Long and the Ref And Montreal( not sure if spelled right) an of course C.M Punkass screwed The Undertaker which wasn't smart cuz now that they pissed the deadman off He's gonna obviously want to seek revenge on The World Heavyweight Champ PUnk and when Undertaker gets his hands on him... Punk will REST.......IN.........PEACE!

Punk is a great wrestler but im sick of all this "SAY NO" crap. get on a wrestle and he'd be a great main eventer. look out for john morrison in the near future, he has a bright future ahead of him. the answer to your question is yes, Ladder match jeff hardy???:lmao:

I must say, although I am glad Punk retained his title, I am disappointed in how the match ended. Teddy Long obviously is going to be a heel now and it's ridiculous. Besides, I thought when Vicky allowed the Undertaker to return, she also allowed his submission hold, I mean as you can see, it is not as brutal, after all, Punk wasn't spitting up blood. :P

Anyway, onto the topic at hand, I feel Punk will retain without cheating. He only cheated before Hardy took the belt off of him. I haven't seen him cheat in the title matches since Jeff won the belt off him. In fact, last night wasn't even technically cheating, sure it was cheap, but IF Taker's submissions is still banned, then the match should have continued. It was more cheap then cheat.

He hasn't cheated, yet why would he cheat later. He won cleanly against Hardy twice, and he never cheated against Taker. It maybe was well underhanded well not even I guess without trying to plagarize the above poster he was cheap. Resourceful I guess would be another word for it.

Wow...C.M Punkass, never heard that one before >.>

Anyways you know that C.M Punk gets paid to play the bad guy right? You know, when he tells everyone to be "straight edge" and to "just say no" he's actually just being paid to say that and be the biggest asshole he can possibly be. The "Bad guy", or "heel" as they are known in the wrestling business, are supposed to do things such as cheat and bad mouth the crowd because that's what heels are supposed to do. Like many others have stated here already, what the hell's the point of a heel having a championship if he doesn't cheat to retain it?

Are you kidding me?!!!! That was total rip off, but IDK if it's CM punk to blame. Teddy Long, or VKM vince mcmahon. Vince put him on probation, so he had to do something, with Vince nagging every week, shhot... I wud to. (Maybe not with the Undertaker though...:banghead:.... But still... PUNK is weak. IDK if he will survive the undertaker.
