Bullshit about Movies

Saw Public Enemies a few days ago. Not bad, but could have been tweaked quite a bit to be made into something truly epic.

Popped in Mulholland Drive earlier today. First time I've watched it in a couple of years, and it's as great as I remember it being.

Just curious, X... I know you also really dug the film, but how did you interpret it?

Has anyone here seen Che? I'd love to see it, but haven't been able to find it anywhere, which really doesn't surprise me.

Hey, everyone here, IrishCanadian25 is thinking about making a sub-forum for me in the movies section for directors (of course, I requested it, so don't think that he loves me that much). What do you think?

If you can keep it going, go for it. I don't know much of the behind the scenes stuff, so I fear I won't be a regular contributor...

^^ I won't let this get lost dammit. Also, a few pages back, I had asked if anyone else was looking forward to Toy Story 3...

You know I'm down for it.

And X, I'm still waiting for your interpretation of Mulholland Drive! :)

It's been quite a while since I've seen it, I'll have to watch it again.

Pi review is up in my thread.

Can't decide what to watch. Dressed to Kill, Kiss Me Deadly, My Life As a Dog, or The King of Comedy? Anyone?

It's not on mate. Not 'till Thursday. Share your opinions on Mulholland Drive though.

Yesterday, when I made that post, I did a lot of reading on it and I have to agree with the one's that said Betty was just Diane's dream of a perfect life. Betty was who Diane wanted to be. When she first arrived to LA, she wanted to be wholesome, and talented with a shit load of potential and tons of opportunities about to come her way. But what she wanted most, was for Camilla ("Rita") to love her, so in her, what I believe to be, psychedelic dream, she made her relationship with Camilla be exciting and beautiful, where she was in complete control.

However, I have another suggestion that I have yet to read about. Now, I'm not embarrassed to say the following because I know only a couple of people read this thread, but the *********ion scene with Diane, you know what I'm talking about? The whole Betty storyline could have just been build up to the sex, where in Diane's mind made it possible for it to come to. I'm not a big porn guy myself, so when I *********e about something, I use my imagination, but there has to be a backdrop to why I and the person in my thoughts are where we're at. We just can't be fucking, lol. And I think, with someone like David Lynch, I think it's possible to think that the first half of the movie was all just Diane's *********ion thoughts. Diane was just a crazed fan obsessed with Camilla, and in order to get off to her, she had to make a story up in her head about the two getting to know each other.

And I feel the other storylines really happened, like for example, the director... that was there just to show how he and Camilla first met (even though the face on the photo wasn't Laura Harring, the name at the bottom was Camilla), and how they got together. And the hitman and detectives were just to show how they were, because they did have meaning at the end of the story.

So, what do you think X, if you remember much of it?

The last time I saw Mulholland Drive while not under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs...well I couldn't tell you when. Honestly I can only remember bits and pieces. I remember a few distinct scenes that showcase how Lynch can scare the piss out of you with nothing more than a weird looking hobo monster and a old people screaming in your face. Those two scenes scare the shit out of me.

Drive is pretty much the only Lynch movie I don't have on DVD. I need to get on that, it's been far too long since I've seen it. Lynch is pretty much God in my book.

Watched The Squid and the Whale earlier (Wes Anderson produced it, X :D )... great movie with some absolutely tremendous dialogue and acting, but it left a lot to be desired, which when you know there's never going to be a part 2.... that's not good. But still... very, very enjoyable film while it last. I highly recommend it. Phoebe Cates little boy is one of the main characters in the movie and he was phenomenal. If he continues down the same path, he's going to be unbelievable by the time he's in his twenties.

You know I've had The Squid and the Whale sitting by my couch for about 6 months now and I've yet to watch it. I knew Anderson produced it, which is why I got the film in the first place. Noah Baumbach is good though, his first film "Kicking and Screaming" is phenomenal. You saw Margot At the Wedding, didn't you? Same director.

No, but I really fucking need to. I'll pick that up on my next DVD fix.

But I have seen Kicking and Screaming and loved it. Couldn't believe it when I saw Karen from The Wonder Years in it, lol. She was damn good, too. It's a shame not much came to her career after that.

Dude, take the plunge...netflix is awesome.

I actually haven't seen Margot At the Wedding yet, but I thought I remembered that you had JMT. Guess not.

You've seen it tdigle? How is it?

I'm getting ready to watch Tropic Thunder in a little bit. I'm sure I'll catch some heat for admitting this, but I haven't seen it yet. I tell ya man, if it's a new release, I won't get around to it until like a year later. I still haven't seen Iron Man yet.

I like blockbuster.

Now considering Margot at the Wedding.

I liked 28 Days Later. Bruno was hit and miss for me. Maltese Falcon was the shit. Humphrey Bogert is awesome. Rewatch of Into the Wild is happening now.

Mentioned the Margot thing because of its trailer in the Into The Wild dvd.

Margot At The Wedding's pretty good. I'd give 3 out of 5 stars. It's like almost every other film directed by a Jewish American: a talkative movie with a promiscuous intellectual as its protagonist.

:lmao:

Classic tdigle quote right there, straight to the xfear text file that goes.

I started to watch Tropic Thunder, and then realized that I'd probably enjoy the film more if I watched it later tonight with a popcorn and a Coke, the real American way to watch a movie. Looks hilarious though.

On a sidenote, I just peeled off half of the skin on my foot. Fun.

When I first watched Tropic Thunder, I thought it was alright. But as I re-watched it I liked it more and more. It's one of those movies, to me, that I enjoy more and more after each viewing.

I watched Year One last week and I thought it wasn't too bad, but not anything to scream about. It had its moments, but I just felt "meh" after watching it.

It's shit like that why I can't wait for his Director's Showcase. It's going to be so awesome. Plus, I'm sure I'll learn a shit load from it, which is something I'm always looking for when it comes to cinema.

Anyway, watched Street Kings earlier. Decent, but the plot twist was too obvious and too much of the film tried to be like Training Day.

I planned on watching Eagle Eye as well, but I wasn't up to it and had to leave anyway. I'll watch it sometime though as I'm sure it'll constantly be on HBO in the next couple of months.

Oh, and watched a little of Pineapple Express as well. It looks as though that movie may never get old to me. Love it.
