And yes X, Sam Mendes is good. Much like Mick Foley. Any thoughts on American Beauty?

I'm sure I'm extremely predictable in saying this, but American Beauty is definately one of my favorite films, ever. From start to finish it is absolutely perfect in every way a movie possibly could be. Not a single flaw to be found, the definition of a five star classic.

Rewatched Rear Window and gave a first time viewing to Miller's Crossing last night. First of all, I'm always astonished by how well Rear Window holds my attention for film that essentially takes place in one room and looks outward from one angle. Just a brilliant film.

Go read my review of Hitchcock's Rope in my movie review thread in the Movies/TV section. Another great Hitchcock film that takes place entirely in one room.

And yes, Rear Window is amazing. I remember watching it in a film class and really having my eyes opened to just how detailed of a movie it really is; how all of the different people outside represent all the different facets of human emotion; from love/lust (Miss Torso) to loneliness (Miss Lonely Hearts) to hatred (Mr. Thorwald). One of Hitchcock's best.

I can't believe I waited so long to see Miller's Crossing. First of all, Byrne is awesome and I really wanna see him in In Treatment now.

Took me a while to get to it as well, but my god isn't it just amazing? And I've been watching the 2nd season of In Treatment and Byrne is absolutely fantastic in it. Then again, is there anything that Byrne isn't amazing in?

But more importantly, the evolution of Tom through-out the movie was astounding. The evolution of the character isn't the whole of the beauty either but it was that it kept you guessing without the writers overplaying their hands and having the character spill his guts about every solitary feeling he had. Having such a somber lead character go through such changes in a film with so much happening without giving too much away (even after the action ended) was pretty cool. I loved it a lot and when I looked at when the movie was made, I was astonished at how well it's aged. It could have been made last year and I wouldn't have been shocked at that knowledge.

Yeah, top notch stuff from start to finish. The shots in the forest (the Miller's Crossing in the film's title) in particular are simply astounding. Great acting, great writing, great storytelling from start to finish. One of the Coen's most underrated flicks.

I'm in a cheesy action/Sci-Fi movie mood. I think I might throw on Starship Troopers. That movie NEVER gets old, ever.

Neil Patrick Harris is awesome in it.

Also...I loved American Beauty. Before I saw it, I always confused it with American Sweetheart. True story.

I'm a sucker for the first two Underworld films. They've got vampires, werewolves, and Kate Beckinsale.

I haven't seen the last one yet.

I've never seen any of the Underworld flicks Murf. I've avoided them like the plague because they all just look fucking atrocious. They look so bad that they'd make an Uwe Boll movie look like a masterpiece...

Tell me you know who Uwe Boll is. Please.

I'm switching back and forth between the Red Sox-Mariners game and Starship Troopers right now, enjoying a beer, a bowl, and some delicious chicken wings. I'm quite content right now. YES! DAMN RIGHT JD DREW YOU HIT THAT FUCKING BALL!

I liked the two Underworld films, personally. Very fun movies.

And Uwe Boll is a fucking tool. I promise X that neither Underworld movie is anywhere near as horrible as an Uwe Boll film.

Tomorrow I'm finally watching for the first time ever, I Spit on Your Grave. Looking forward to it. I'm sure X has seen it and I'm sure considering his taste... he loves it, lol.

And I can't believe you haven't seen Gone Baby Gone, X. So there's that, Delirious, and Into the Wild (which is on Showtime now regularly) that I'm eagerly waiting to hear your thoughts on.

might watch a horror movie and drink to it.

Think of a good one with boobs and killing that I havent seen yet, and Ill rep you.

The only one of his that I've seen is Bloodrayne. Underworld on a movie and and enjoyability rating is better.

All right good, because you know I love trashy B-movies (especially slashers), but Uwe Boll is where I draw the line. The man somehow manages to turn a horror film into a living, breathing abortion every time he gets behind a camera. What's even more hilarious is just how awesome he really thinks he is---the guy thinks he's a horror visionary :lmao:

Maybe I'll give the Underworld movies a try sometime. They look pretty bad though, like as bad as the third Resident Evil film. Did you see the third one? Straight up the most boring film I've ever watched in my entire life, and it's supposed to be a fucking zombie movie! I literally fell asleep every 10 minutes while watching that.

I Spit On Your Grave is not for the faint of heart first off. It's not super gorey (seen much worse), but it's rather disturbing. It's a total exploitation flick but it's good for a watch. It's really disturbing though watching what happens to her and the revenge she takes on her attackers. Whether you like it or not depends on whether you like films like The Last House on the Left (the original obviously).

And I can't believe you haven't seen Gone Baby Gone, X. So there's that, Delirious, and Into the Wild (which is on Showtime now regularly) that I'm eagerly waiting to hear your thoughts on.

lol and the funny thing is that all three of them are set to record on my DVR. What happens though is I always end up erasing the movies I record on my DVR and setting up a recording of the movie like a week later so I can save space on my DVR. I record A LOT of stuff on there, that DVR is one used up ragged hoe.

I posted a review of the Hitchcock film Rope earlier in my review thread, ever seen it?

And I'm also finishing up Starship Troopers right now. Epic cheese and awesomeness on a whole different level.

Resident Evil 3 sucked it hard. I only watched that series because I thought it would be good in a cheesy way.

Apparently this Uwe guy legit beat up some critics by challenging them to boxing matches.

Tell me that that doesn't cry out 'man-child'. I'll prove my critics are stupid by punching them in the face.

And not only that, but the douchebag wants to literally fight those who find his work to be the trash they truly are. The dude's just the epitome of pathetic, both as a person and as a director.

I can't speak for the third Underworld film, but the first two have awesome action and a great story with some really good acting.

And yeah... my best friend's a Resident Evil fantastic. He has all the games, and all the films, and loves them all. The only Resident Evil film I didn't find to be completely worthless was #2, but even that was still terrible. Just not as terrible as #1 and #3.

I'm sure it won't fuck with me in the least bit. A chick getting raped by some rednecks, and then getting revenge sounds pretty sweet to me. A more hardcore version of Deliverance it sounds, and I loved that movie.

Well, these are three films you can't erase before watching, k? :)

I posted a review of the Hitchcock film Rope earlier in my review thread, ever seen it?

Unfortunately, no. Other than Howard Hughes’ films and a couple of other Katharine Hepburn pictures, plus shitty Wizard of Oz, I haven't seen many movies from back then. But I read your review and enjoyed it. Trust me... I'm going to keep up to date with that thread and reply to it every time you review a film I've actually seen.

And I'm also finishing up Starship Troopers right now. Epic cheese and awesomeness on a whole different level.

Never seen this either. I'm just to stubborn to give anything that sci-fi a chance, lol.

Oh man you have to give Starship Troopers a try. I'm typin' up a review for it right now. It's cheesy as hell but it's just a fun damn action movie. It's not really Sci-Fi, the only thing sci-fi about it is that it slightly involves spaceships and it involves a shit load of humans vs. giant insect battles. It's absolute classic stuff man, my favorite movie when I was a little kid. Not to say it's an actual like quality, respectable film, but it's ridiculiously fun to watch.

Spit On Your Grave isn't too bad. It's just one kill in particular that really gets to me every time, one involving a certain male part of the anatomy.

might watch a horror movie and drink to it.

Think of a good one with boobs and killing that I havent seen yet, and Ill rep you.

The Friday The 13th remake had some amazing boobs in it, so, if you want to watch a horror film primarily for the nudity, there you go. Also, the Halloween remake had some pretty nice boobs in it as well. If you want something really gory and trashy, look for Murder Set Pieces (make sure it's unrated though...Lion's Gate distributed an R-rated version of it, and it sucked serious ass without all the gore and sex). If you want to go old-school, go with The Burning or The Mutilator.

YES tdigle. The Burning is slasher movie GOLD.

I enjoyed the Friday the 13th remake for what it was: a modern cheesy slasher film in the same vein as the movies of the 80s. Can you REALLY say that the remake was any worse then say, Part V? No, you can't. It had great tits, teenage drug use, and Jason violently murdering people. What the fuck else can you ask for from a slasher film, seriously? Good acting? No. Just no. Plus, Jason in a weed field = hilarious.

The Halloween remake was better then everyone said it was. I regularly post at the official Halloween board, so I'm constantly bombarded by people who think it's the worst film ever made. I enjoyed it. It's not great, and I really wish the whole white-trash family backround was never included, but it's enjoyable as a Halloween film. Plus Scout Taylor Compton and ESPECIALLY Danielle Harris are so hot it's ridiculious. I mean, c'mon, it has Danielle Harris!

Other great slasher flicks are: The Prowler, Sleepaway Camp Trilogy, My Bloody Valentine (original), Prom Night (original). I could think of a bunch more but I'm a bit tipsydrunk.

Really? As I said before I did like Il Posto, so happy watching!

I don't suggest Public Enemies. Make your own choice, but I suggest a rent.

I'm kind of getting sick of the whole digital thing from Mann though.

I'm thinking I'll either just find a torrent or give it a rent when it comes out on DVD though, looks good but I don't want to pay to see a mediocre movie.

Yeah.

Public Enemies kind of sucked. It wasn't really bad, but I expected a lot.

Expect repetitive dialogue, documentary-esque camera work, slightly disappointing production value(see previous), and a few good scenes.

I'm not going to complain about the plot if it's based on what actually happened.

Already saw it, but I agree with you. But, the mediocrity was on the cast rather than Mann, who can do no wrong.

Dunno. We may have disagreed a bit. I will admit that I would rob a bank with that guitar riff going in the background.

Same with me. The first one looked too good to pass up, and ended up just being a fun movie to watch. I personally think Zita Gorog's character (the head chick vampire, can't think of the name) was hotter. I'll watch the third, but won't pay more than the $5 Blockbuster will charge me to buy it used.

I still haven't seen Starship Troopers. Don't know why. Just never got to it. Uwe Boll is fucking atrocious. Bloodrayne is his most watchable, and only for a nude Loken, and a hot Michelle Rodriguez.

Resident Evil 3 sucked it hard. I only watched that series because I thought it would be good in a cheesy way.

Apparently this Uwe guy legit beat up some critics by challenging them to boxing matches.

I liked the RE movies, only because I never liked the games. They're not my style, so I always ended up watching. I didn't like that Jill Valentine was a minor character though. Seems like she should've been the focus...

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People wasn't what I was expecting.

On to Man on Wire, Slither, and Sunshine.

I heard Sunshine was really good. If the local indy theater is still playing it, I might head down to see Moon...or whatever that sci-fi movie is called.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of this...There's one minor thing that gets to me, but I won't ruin it for you. It has a little bit of everything...Hope you enjoy it...

How to Lose Friends was terrible. I shut it off halfway through. I'll go through a lot to watch Simon Pegg, but that movie drew the line.

Haven't seen Man on Wire yet, I'm not a very big documentary guy unless it's in particular fields that I'm already interested in. Heard it was amazing though.

Slither is great fun if you like wacky, comedic horror flicks. Since you're just getting into horror, this isn't exactly a classic, but a fun movie. What horror classics have you seen anyways Murf? The staples like Halloween, Night of the Living Dead, The Exorcist, Psycho, etc?

Sunshine is great. It's like 95% a fantastic film, and then 5% of the most ridiculiously stupid shit ever. But it's Danny Boyle so he can do no wrong. Even better is that the film is written by Alex Garland, the author of The Beach (one of my favorite books) and 28 Days Later. It's good if you like sci-fi like I do.

And dude...if you get the chance to see Moon...fucking DO IT, ASAP! That movie is OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Seriously one of the best sci-fi films I've seen in a long, long time and one that will go down in history as a Sci-Fi cult classic. Truely amazing stuff in that film, and Rockwell is fantastic.

I'm working up a Jaws review for my review thread right now as well, should be up before I go to sleep tonight.

I haven't seen any horror classics. I'll look at those next.

Yeah, Alienate People was bad. There were some funny parts, but not many. Megan Fox wasn't even hot.
