Breaking Bad..As I Go Through It.

End Times (Penultimate episode of Season 4) was definitely one of the best hours that the show produced, and the finale Face Off was a great way to wrap up things and open up new ventures for the 5th and Final Season. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this goes, but throwing caution for Nazis.

Just reached the end of Gliding All Over (End of Season 5.1), damn that was such a cliffhanger to end on. At least up to this point, it feels like standard BB that is similar to Season 3 & 4 for pacing while being contained in a small amount of episodes. I like how BB's over-arching story has been consistent and I look forward to seeing how the final eight turn out.

Though I'm guessing it's from where 5.2 picks up is where things change, so I'm curious to see how it turns out. Regardless of if it's good or bad, I definitely agree that Breaking Bad deserves its praise of being a really good show. I wouldn't call it "The Greatest Ever" but definitely in my top shows for quality and consistency.

I finished watching it yesterday. Season 5 was...interesting, the aftermath elements of post-Gus life were interesting but made a reflection upon Season 1 & 2 where they tried to work the market, but were unable to because of the DEA breathing down their necks.

The Neo-Nazis were an interesting concept to add, but they felt very generic and you could have replaced them with any kind of group and it would still be the same. I think the only problem with the ending is how they gave a really dark episode like Ozymandias and then they spend the last two episodes trying to turn Walt into a hero when he's been far from that throughout the show, or at least redeeming him in the eyes of the viewer. I think had they at least moved events of Ozymandias to an earlier point of 5.2, it could have allowed some pacing and given a natural build-up to the end, allowing some some further depth, which is why Season 3 and 4 worked so well, it was about the build-up to the climax. Season 5 did have some great moments, but it does pale in comparison to what Season 3 & 4 provided in terms of build, tone and continuity.

I do feel that what should have been the ending is a complete and final showdown between Walt and Jesse. While we had closure for their story at the end, it really should have had more screen time for the finale because they carried the show from beginning to end, and the Neo-Nazis were effective, but as LSN said, they shouldn't have been the focus for the end. It was a good ending, but it wasn't their best, that was what Season 4 provided. I still at least recommend the show to allow people to have an opinion because regardless of whether it's considered great or not, it's at least entertaining from start to finish.

Seems like there is a lot of hate for the Neo Nazis. Why is that the case? They weren't Gus Fring but they were important to the story, imo.

Without them, Hank would not have died, which, in my opinion, is the turning point in BB. The life of an innocent man is taken away due to Walt's actions and that really shows how despicable Walt is.

What I had trouble believing was Walt's plan of threatening Gretchen and Elliot in the finale. Badger and Skinny Pete aren't going to aim their laser lights at Gretchen and Elliot after Walt's gone, aren't they eventually going to figure out that Walt was shamming? And when they do, they are going to be $10M richer :p

Personally, I think Walt should have just killed them.
