Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day

Thanks man. Say, is Crunchy Nut the same thing as what Kellogg's had back in the day called Nut N Honey Crunch? Flakes, peanuts, frosted in honey?

I'm not to sure to be honest. But Crunchy Nut is similar to what you described. It's very good.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the efforts of all involved to successfully turn this into a popular thread despite my early tries to derail it into a pony thread.

Keep at it Soda. I need to hit my fitness center for a while. Can't take my dog for walks due to a injury in one of his legs. Sucks man cause he enjoys them, and we're both trying to lose some poundage.

Cheers man. What kind of dog do you have? Or are you being street and just referring to a friend?

One day... one day... I'm going to post a dickpic with an "eat this!"-caption...

Looking forward to it.

Lowdown and Diet, just try to cut back on your sugar and carbohydrate intake. I did it and I lost 5 pounds in a month doing so. You guys will do it, keep your heads up! :)

Thanks mate. Just recently I've tried cutting a lot of fat and sugar out of my day to day eating. Exercising more too. It's not like I have a lot of weight to lose; I'm only around 170 lbs and have a very high metabolism, but I'd really like to tone up and get shut of the beer belly.

He's an actual dog. Terrier mix. The type the forever likes chasing shit. Has some ligament damage in his left hind joint. Doc says he can't really go for walks for at least a month to two months. And surgery is pricey.

On a lighter note, wifey just hooked up a bomb breakfast. Beef smoked sausage, eggs, fried potatoes with grilled onions and pepperoni. And I'm trying to lose weight....shame on me.

I hear ya, I am trying to tone up myself. Just run, that's what I've been told. I don't run, I have bad knees so when I work I try to move really fast to get my heart beat pumping faster. Have you tried the P90X Sodes? That will tone you up quick! I've yet to complete it do to complications with life but man, when I get time I'll finish it.

Today I ate four Cookies and Cream pop tarts and a nice tall glass of milk! Yummy.

My boy back in L.A. used P90X and lost over 100lbs. Man is skinny as hell.

Three eggs over easy with two slices of toast and three slices of bacon.

For a tall, skinny guy who's about 160 lbs soaking wet after a big plate of ribs, I sure feel like a fatty sometimes.

I cycle quite a bit so that's my main form of exercise. Really hilly around where I live so I can go on some strenuous rides.

What is P90X? Not that I have 100lbs to lose without needing a drip.

P90X is a fitness DVD, you could likely find it free, but you won't get the T-shirt. Insanity Fitness with Shaun T is what I used, but both are hella tough! You'd be surprised but DDP yoga and some running and cycling can do wonders. Especially after a good breakfast!

It's an insane workout. But I'm gonna hit the treadmill and weights. I think I need to work up to doing P90X.

Might want to talk to your doctor as well. One of my best friend's works for Team Beachbody and sells all the P90X, Insanity, Brazil Butt, etc. stuff, and people have complained about P90X and Insanity to him. They're great workouts, but they're no joke.

The guy in the story below was in good shape, but one day of P90X sent him to the hospital:

I agree. My homie has always been smaller than me and in better shape. What's good for one person could be killer for another.

What's the purpose of P90X? Is it for gaining muscular strength/endurance or for losing fat? What are the goals of the users of P90X?

I haven't looked at this extensively, but to me it seems to cater to people who want to lose fat. If it promises more than that (and if I remember the adverts correctly, it does), I take issue with it. If one wants to gain muscle mass or strength, then he or she should weight train. P90X is not going to add muscle mass outside of small "beginner" gains. My reasoning behind this is simple: for optimal muscle growth and development, a person needs to consume a caloric surplus, and a user of P90X is instructed to eat less than what's desired.

What about weight lose? There are many, many aerobic and anaerobic exercises in which one could engage in to lose fat. Walking, swimming, running, etc. are all good ways to lose fat. Compound this with a calorie-conscious diet, and it would be effective in helping one lose weight.

I'm looking at this from a relatively ostensible perspective, but I think there are more conventional ways to fulfill one's goals than P90X. If one wants to gain muscle mass/strength, then he or she should weight train. If one wanted to lose fat, he or she should exercise and eat healthily (and below his or her caloric needs).

P90X, at least from my current perspective, isn't necessary.

Most fad exercises, diets, and workout equipment aren't necessary. They exist because the fitness industry is insanely lucrative, and gurus, ex-athletes, and kinesiologists all want a slice of that pie. Plus, everyone is different. Some people may not like traditional exercises or may need the coaching that a DVD recording provides. You're right, BC, they're not necessary; but people want options and trainers want money. Just one hand washing the other.

Of Course. P90X, however, is insanely popular and in turn specifically peaked my interest. I wondered, because of its popularity, if it had particular merit or unique scientific innovation in the commercial fitness marketplace.

Plus, everyone is different. Some people may not like traditional exercises or may need the coaching that a DVD recording provides.
I see your point here; if it helps someone get off the coach (because of whatever reason), then it can be a useful tool in their fitness goals and/or weight loss.

But for those who have goals of gaining muscle mass, P90X isn't for them; P90X is designed to make one lose weight and perhaps prevent muscle atrophy (since weight lifting is involved to some degree). I have a few anecdotes of people who have mentioned the P90X program and inferred that it helps to build muscle. It doesn't, it helps one lose weight and lower their body fat, creating the illusion of muscle gain; they're simply shedding the fat to reveal the muscle that they had to begin with.

Indeed. If this is what it takes for someone, fine. I just want the users, and potential users, to know that there are free alternatives that are just as effective, and to not believe the marketing hype about "getting ripped." I'm not saying that consumers are not informed, but aren't there people out there that bought a Shake Weight with the mentality that with a few bodily muscular motions that they would turn into the muscle-bound, fit person in the commercial? That wasn't a rhetorical question, I really don't know. I hope not, anyway.

It's mostly a fitness thing. Toning at a stretch. It's mostly for masochists and probly has a 60% failure rate. But doing it will get you burning fat. No more than good effort at any other exercise. You could gain a little muscle, but only because you'd never have used them before.

I think what helps is that normally, TV is the bastion of hope for the unfit. With these kind of DVDs, even your TV is yelling at you to do something. Put this in, you'll want to leave the house more.
