Bombs Explode At Boston Marathon, Three Dead

Funny you mention Waco, because it wasn't Waco. I lived in a suburb of Waco at the time. The siege took place in Elk, Texas, and it was undoubtedly a debacle. EDIT: This situation in Boston isn't the same as the Mount Caramel siege. Hopefully it doesn't turn into that.

Don't accuse me of talking about rights and the collective and the greater good. I've walked a middle of the road political stance my entire adult life, and I judge situations as they come. There is no one right answer, no magic bullet, no absolute philosophy or plan. I would hope my postings across these forums would reflect that, but if you think I'm a leftist hippie turned easily manipulated sheep, so be it. We don't really know each other so it's easy to make assumptions.

What is happening in Boston is what is necessary. The suspect is armed with firearms and explosives. That is known. He and his brother shot two law officers, killing one and severely injuring the other. That is known. He is at large in the greater Boston area. Again, known fact. Do you want this guy to be caught or do you want to turn this into a political discussion? I give you the choice. If it's the latter, then I'll take my leave of this thread.

It's incidentally 20 years to the day.

And now the aunt and the father are saying they didn't do it. The reporters are baffled.... Shaking my fucking head.

I don't know why anybody would be baffled. What the fuck did they think that they were going to say.

The uncle's reaction was an anomaly. If anything should have been baffling, it was that.

I think we should give murderer #2 a big cuddle, because that's all those poor, sad people need.

Yeah let's sit him down and give him a big old BJ. He probably didn't get enough BJ's. Then cuddlin'. Then some puddin'. Cuddlin' and Puddin'.... then shoot him in the head? It's a thought.

It's being reported that gunshots and explosions were heard in Watertown. The chatter right now seems to indicate that the suspect has been captured or killed, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I agree that he's prepped to kill himself, but he's certainly hesitating at this point.

Better you than I my friend. That's quite the commitment. Especially once the beer starts flowing which goes hand in hand with wrestling. After the first match I would be useless for typing on the computer.

"Some shit happened, watch it yourself!" is what you'd get out of me at the end of it all.

According to MSNBC they didn't rob the 711 but were in the vicinity and shot the cop who was investigating the robbery. That makes a bit more sense.

According to the local news they have him cornered right now. He still hasn't killed himself, so hopefully they can talk him out of it and bring him in alive.

Now the real interesting thing begins: what do they get out of him?

I don't know, and right now my fear is that we don't find out for a while. The FBI might want to keep this under wraps until they get all their facts straight.

Alive and in custody. Interrogation time.

For now. They brought the other guy in alive as well, but he was pronounced DOA at the hospital.

Doesn't make me sad. He killed, maimed, and injured countless people. I don't care if the bastard was Humanitarian of the Year last year, the world is better off without him walking around free.

If his message, whatever it was, was so significant that he could commit such a deplorable act, it would have manifested in one disastrous way or another.

Not me, check out that last line:

Makes me glad. One is dead, hopefully receiving the worst of whatever the great hereafter has to offer, and the other is identified, has nowhere to run or hide, and will hopefully be brought to justice very soon.
What I meant was how someone who fought so hard to have a new life in a new country could just snap like that when influenced by propaganda. Not the specific individual and his actions.

Glad to see they finally caught the guy.

Jeff Bauman, the man that lost his legs and many saw it on Live tv, was the man that identified the brothers which led to the break in the investigation. Unfreakingbelievable.

People are celebrating in the streets in Boston. I'm not sure how I feel about that. We caught a criminal, sure, but at what cost?
