One of two suspects of the Boston Marathon bombings, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed in the middle of the night, was intensely training as a boxer and hoped to represent the United States Olympic team according to a photo essay by Johannes Hirn, Will Box for Passport, TMZ revealed.
The photo essay, put together before the boxer competed at National Golden Gloves competition in Salt Lake City, feature photos that were taken while Tsarnaev trained at the Wai Kru Mixed Martial Arts Center in Boston, hoping to be selected for the United States team in order to become a naturalized citizen.
In the photo essay, a caption says that Tsarnaev is originally from Chechnya, but that he fled Chechnya with his family because of the conflict in the early 1990s, and lived for years in Kazakhstan before getting to the United States as a refugee. I dont have a single American friend, I dont understand them, he said.
Tamerlan described himself as a Muslim who didnt drink or smoke God says no alcohol. His hope was to become a naturalized American, as Chechnya is not independent, his reasoning for wanting to compete for America rather than Russia.
We also learn from the photo essay that Tsarnaev drove a Mercedes, loved the movie Borat, and had a girlfriend, who is also featured in the photo essay.
Tsarnaev, 26, was killed in a wild overnight shootout with police just after 2 a.m. His 19-year-old brother, Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev is the second suspect in the Boston Marathon Bombings.
