Bobby Roode Says He Would Like To Face Austin Aries

TNA recently uploaded a video on their youtube page of Roode coming to the UK to promote the next UK tour. In this video he gave a speech and answered some questions from fans:

At 4:17 in the video a fan asks who Roode would like to face in the future. Roode said that he thinks the longest reigning Heavyweight champion vs the longest reigning X Division champion would be a good story. I'm glad me and Roode are on the same page!

The question is though, do you think Aries and Roode will face off during Roode's reign? Should Aries have the X Division belt with him or not? This feud were it to happen could be great stuff!

Absolutely! I've thought for a while that this should definately be the main event of Destination X this year, and I'm fairly confident that it will be. Considering that Aries is basically a 1 man X-Division at the moment and has no viable challengers, TNA would be damn foolish not to book this match.

Ideally a 30 minute iron-man, to allow Aries a clean pin over Roode without actually beating him, but now I'm just fantasy booking.

Well Roode has survived all of the main event level heavyweights, and Aries doesn't appear to have any competition in the X Div so a fight between the two would be awesome imo. Quite frankly I think I would prefer injecting a new challenger for Roode in Aries rather than watching Roode fight the same guys he's fought for the last few months again. Aries is over, and having a hard hitting bout with the Champ is only going to help when TNA decides to move him up the card in the future.

While I would love to see the matches a program like this would entail, I think to do this anytime soon would be a bad idea. Neither guy needs a loss to dampen the momentum.

It took me a while to warm up to Robert Roode. In team Canada, he was quite overshadowed by the twin juggernauts of Petey Williams' wrestling ability and Eric Young's antics. His solo career was formulaic, and it wasn't until Beer Money that I really noticed him.

Aries, on the other hand, made a big impression on me when he first showed up in TNA for only a match or two, in something that could be viewed as a precursor to "gut check."
Then they followed that up a few months later with that really gay "Austin Starr" gimmick that I hated so much. When he left TNA to go back to ROH, I was pleased.

It is just that no matter how good the match, neither of these guys need to lose right now. In fact, I think they would make a fine tag team, if TNA is willing to drop the face turn on A dub. They could even have a run with the titles. The Kurt Angle feud scripts itself:

"Kurt, we are the first tag team to old all three of these titles at once. You should respect that, and take it as a warning."

"oooo. Am I supposed to be impressed? I had all four of your belts at one time by myself! Respect that, why don't you?"

I think it would be fun.
They can always wrestle each other when they split.

Holy shit Destination X why did I not think of that!? Awesome idea and I really hope they do this, as it will have the X Division in the main event as well as Roode not missing out on a PPV.

Yeah Roode vs. Aries would be money. They faced each other in a tag situation, but I would love to see the two of them one on one, preferably for the title. Its true that Aries has surpassed every challenger in the X division, so this would be a huge coup.

I think it would be a classic rivalry. Aries has shown that he can hang with the big dogs, Bully Ray for example, and go over. Aries has the charisma and Roode has the heat, they are both great workers and have both worked their asses off for this business. It would be great for TNA to showcase the little guys and give them a chance in the spotlight. If TNA gives Aries the ball he will surely run with it. I mean look whats happened to Roode, he used to be upper-mid card performer who worked with the likes of Eric Young and other, but with the title he has gained major credibility and has been unstoppable. Aries is a surefire choice for a contender and main eventer.

Aries VS Roode
:worship::worship:

I would love to see it, but not until a little later down the road. Let Aries continue building himself up. The feud would be so good I don't even think the title would need to be on the line.

Roode is succeeding as the arrogant champion and Aries is gaining momentum with his recent face turn. Both are champions with long title reigns, so, it makes alot of sense to do this feud. WWE has done it for ages. WWF vs. IC Champ. US vs. IC Champ. Any great champion vs. champion match is great. Could you imagine that main event on Impact? It'd be epic.

Bobby Roode has just beaten the previous longest World Champion reign by beating the guy that held it - AJ Styles.

Austin Aries may already be the longest reigning X-Division Champion but he has never beaten the first X-Division Champion and the guy still most synonymous with it - AJ Styles. If DX isn't A Double versus AJ Styles, I'd be completely flabbergasted (hopefully in Ultimate X)!

Now, should Aries go over the Phenomenon One then there is a ready made story line for the two to meet up on the run up to BFG were a certain Mr Storm should be waiting for Bobby boy. In fact, there would even be good reason for AJ to be involved as the guy who would be getting namechecked:
Roode: "I beat AJ Style's longest reign record by beating AJ Styles!" Aries: "Yeah, I beat the X-Division pioneer at the event named after the division in it's most famous match - beat that!"

Roode needs opponents not involved in the BFG series to keep him hot; Sting hasn't taken him on for the World belt, neither has Angle, throw in an X vs World feud with Aries and that should keep his hands quite full. As far as Aries losing to Roode, losing to the World Champion cannot be regarded as bad provided you are given a competitive showing and, with Bobby not being the biggest, I'd imagine an extremely competitive match.
