Black Monday: Which NFL Coaches will be Fired?

He's a defensive coach who was coaching them to a terrible defense. They were 26th in scoring defense. The best part of his team was the offense. They probably figured they might as well run with that. If they use the OC as their new head coach he can continue to mentor Winston while also instilling a defense that might work better.

Sam Wyche would probably be considered Cincy's greatest (most accomplished) coach of all time but that being said there is no reason in 2016 to fire Lewis unless you have a big time replacement waiting to jump on that job. Maybe a few years ago when his team dominated the police blotter but not today. He led his team to a good record, there is not a lot of drama coming out any more and he has a history of winning. The playoff record is not simply a reason to fire someone.

I completely redact these statements about Lewis. After tonight he should be fired. I know it is the players fault but good Lord that was brutal.

When I own my first NFL franchise, the GM job is BSE's for the taking.

If Lewis isn't gone after that loss I would be surprised.

Burflict went on a to display why he is probably one of the dirtiest players in the league and possibly in the history of the game.

The lack of discipline between him and Adam Jones (supposedly team leaders) is why they lost that game.

BSE is already GM of the Cleveland Browns, he has been for years.

But in all seriousness, yes Marvin Lewis needs to go. 0-7 in the postseason alone is enough to warrant a change. That is officially the worst for any head coach in NFL history. But he has no control of his team whatsoever. I imagine Burfict and Jones are going to be getting heavy backlash from the NFL's front office as well.

It's their fault, but Lewis is responsible. It's sad because they're all adults, but imagine if this happened in an office. And two employees acted this way, constantly, but finally something as big as this. Would the manager of that office not get blamed as well? Or a more fitting comparison, how about a kindergarten teacher?

Even if Marvin Lewis wasn't 0-7 in the post season, what happened with his team tonight was just too much. I would fire him for his post season record alone. I would fire him for his lack of control over his team. But those two things are together now, and I just don't see how any GM can keep him. Even if he wants to, the media will probably burn them alive if they don't.

I think Lewis has one more year left on his contract. He should be terminated after last night. It's one thing to defend your players when their actions are defensible and quite another thing to act like they didn't do anything wrong when everybody saw what they did.

Burfict and Pacman are team leaders? Seriously?

If that's the case, the Bengals' problems are going to continue, whether Marvin Lewis stays the coach or not. I'm sure Lewis was trying to reason with these guys during the game. That they were unwilling or unable to control themselves caused the entire team to go home for the season.

Then again, trying to control two over-privileged, millionaire thugs is a hopeless task for anyone.......and if those two guys are team leaders and the entire loss is blamed on the officials, nothing's gonna get fixed.

Marvin should quit to get away from this garbage. He can come coach my Giants.

NFL has to do something about these players turning to social media as a stress relief. Pacman took to Instagram last night to express how he felt in a 12 second profanity laced tirade. I think it has since been taken down, but still the video is probably still floating around the Internet.

Which leaves me to believe that Lewis did not clear the air with this guy before they left the locker room. This all goes back to Marvin Lewis. I remember watching the Panthers play them last season. During the game there was an ankle incident that involved Vontaze playing dirty. Lewis said in his presser following the game that he didn't see a problem with what Vontaze did. Later in the week of course he got fined. (Vontaze). When a coach condones or turns a blink eye this this type of play, it is he that should be held accountable to some degree.

Hopefully these GMs will stop signing these players on their 3rd and fourth chances. There are way too many players out there than for these players to be disrupting chemistry. While Jones has been relatively quiet these last few seasons - he is known to be cancerous. Specifically to Tennessee and Dallas. Steelers didn't win that game themselves - Cinci won the game for them.

Looks like we'll find out soon where Hue Jackson may land. He did wonders with the Bengals offense last season and Cleveland is actively trying to keep him to be their HC. He wants to interview for the vacancy with the Giants first. 49ers are also interested - not the Titans who prefer a GM first.

I’d rather be head coach of the Titans w/ Mariota as the ID’d franchise QB and no primary responsibility for personnel than to have keys to the castle with the Browns and no seemingly long term solution for QB. The risk vs. reward, coupled with the responsibility to produce on both fronts under considerable front office instability in Cleveland, would lead me to believe this scenario is less likely. A much more simple explanation would be the front office just hasn’t/isn’t willing to reach out to Hue for a potential variety of reasons.
