Best never to wear WWF(E) gold

ServantofTwilight

Pre-Show Stalwart
one of the reasons i have gotten away from pro wrestling today is the passing around of titles. for awhile there title reigns lasted about a month and everyone held them. there are very few men today who have not held some sort of title. it got me thinking of when i started watching wrestling( 1981 ) and title reigns were longer and fewer men held them. there were many big stars who never wore gold( at least in the wwf). that said i was wondering who people thought were the best guys never to wear wwf gold.

heres my ten:

10. junkyard dog- huge star and face in mid 80s. defeated valentine in ic match at wm1, but it was by countout. never really got many title shots of any kind.

9. bam bam bigelow- in and out of wwf but his last heel run was good. was a kotr finalist( lost to b.hart ) and made it to the finals of the tag title tourny, but never won a title.

8. lex lugar- was pushed hard from summer 93 till wm in 94 but came away with nothing. ic shots at deisal and tag shots with davey boy vs owen and yoko but still came up short.

7. tatanka- had non-title win over micheals and dominated the ic champ but never took strap. was bigelow's partner in tag tourny.

6. one man gang- once had clean pinfall win vs bret hart in msg. giant sized heel who was part of very good and underated tag team( twin towers ) but never acheived any gold rewards.

5. hercules- best as a heel. at seperate snme he almost defeated hogan for world title and steamboat for ic title. as face also almost took ic title off of rude. came close in power and glory of unseating hart foundation for tag titles.

4. jake roberts- again, better heel who never really got title shots. only i remember was a heel vs heel match vs savage for ic title on a snme. spent many years in wwf but came away empty handed.

3. king kong bundy- the man who was going to squash hulkamania. headlined wm2 but was dominated by hogan and faded soon after. he and studd made a great team but never wrestled belts off of bulldogs.

2. paul orndorf- got too many shots at hogan too count. one of the most hated men in wwf. even took some shots at santana' ic title but his wwf title history was not wonderful.

1. jimmy snuka- monster heel and monster face. as heel almost took world title from backland and as face almost dethroned don muraco for ic title. most popular guy until hogan appeared. should have been treated better.

just one thing if you choose to reply. try not to use guys who are wrestling there now as they may very well win a title in near future.

Lex Luger was gonna get the title at Wrestlemania 10 but I heard he got like real drunk the night before and had a monster hangover so Vince decided not to give him the belt....really, true story or so I was told, I forgot the website.

But That's a very good list there...here's some more.

Test: Yes, He had so much potential but it never came through, back in '99 during that whole marriage thing and with Triple H doing the drive-thru wedding and all WWF should have placed Test, who was very popular then, against Triple H and had him win and you would have had a big star in the making. Instead Vince put himself in that match and kinda ruined it.

Ken Shamrock: Yes, I thought the World's Most Dangerous Man could have made a great WWF Champion. He had a pretty loyal fanbase and was good in the ring and had awesome intensity.

Razor Ramon(Scott Hall): In 1993-1995 when he was hot WWF could have made some huge money with him, don't get me wrong they did, but if they would have gave him the World title I think he could have turned the WWF upside down...in a good way. However, WWF felt more comfortable with him in the IC Title hunt...and then he left for WCW and hit it big with the nWo.

That's all I can think of for now.

Glad you replied but....with the exception of Lugar all the guys you mentioned held gold in the WWE at one point or another. While they were never World champs they were still champs of some sort. the ten men I mentioned never held ANY championships in the WWE, even though most were at some point huge stars.

Damn you again, Servantoftwlight, since you listed so many names you pretty much took all the good ones…j/k!

If you are just talking about those who never held a “WWE” gold, then:

Dusty Rhodes – By the time he entered the WWE in the late 1980s, he already had an impressive resume, winning just about every title in the NWA. I didn’t really expect him to win a title in WWE as he was in the later stages of his career, but he was definitely good enough to hold a WWE gold.

Harley Race – See Dusty Rhodes. Since WWE didn’t really have any titles for him to win, they did the next best thing (I guess) by making him “King.”

Bad News Brown (Allen) – He was one of greatest wrestlers to come from Canada, yet he never held a title during his tenure in the WWE. He did, at one point, had an undefeated streak going for him at one point. However, since he was in his late 40’s when he arrived in the WWE in the late 1980s, I didn’t expect WWE to put a title on him.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan – Not that I was really a big fan of him, but he was one of those “upper level” wrestlers in the WWE who never won a title.

“Outlaw” Ron Bass – See Hacksaw Duggan.

I have to go with:

Kane: i don't really think his reign counts
Andre: He held it for like 10 minutes, that shoudln't count either
Razor Ramon
Shelton Benjamin
Earthquake

can't think of any more now

7. tatanka- had non-title win over micheals and dominated the ic champ but never took strap. was bigelow's partner in tag tourny.

Tatanka is working for wwe on Smackdown.:headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger:

I think you missed servantoftwilight's point. It's not "who's never won WWE World Title," but "who's never held a title in WWE," and everyone on your list has held a title of some sorts in the WWE.

Kane: WWE champion, Tag Team champion
Andre: WWE champion, Tag Team champion
Razor Ramon: 4-time IC champion
Shelton Benjamin: 3-time IC champion, Tag Team champion
Earthquake: Tag Team champion

^O Shit, my bad. I guess I did kinda miss it. lol

How bout,
Tatanka
JYD
Snuka
Eugene, jk

I thought Bam Bam did win the World Title before...is it just me?

Bigelow won the ECW World Title, but we're talking about guys who didn't win any titles in the WWE, and Bam Bam was one of them.

Thats a good catch. I originally made this list awhile ago and Tatanka was not wrestling for the WWE. However, I will keep him there until he wins a title as I think he won't do it.

The white Angel Hakushi - thats right Hakushi, when he first entered WWF, he feuded with Bret Hart the Champion at the time, He made Bret Look like a rookie in the matches they had(He was that damn good)but never won the title then WWF had him job to a jobber(Barry Horowitz) He deserved some recognition for the style he brought into the WWF and IC run or tag run would've been sufficient but nothing ever happened

Steve Blackman-

He was a really good wrestler he had great "lions den" matches with shamrock and great matches with Dan Savern.

Again I think the main point is being missed. All the wrestlers recently mentioned, with the exception of Pillman and Hakushi, have held some title in the WWE. Some of you even listed the titles. I am looking for the best wrestlers to come through the WWE(F) who never won a title.

The best never to hold a WWF Title. Thats a very difficult question as the majority whom I wanted to see hold the title did eventually hold it at some point. As far as the worst title reign, I think that has to go to Andre The Giant. He deserved to hold the title for much longer than he did. They short title reign that WWE or WWF as it was then did give him, did barely nothing for his career. If I had a choice I would have to say Andre deserved a much more extensive World Championship Reign.

I agree to a certain extent. The reason why Andre was never really considered for the World Title is because he preferred to travel all over the world (and he was in great demand) instead of staying in one territory. (Being a World champion basically means that you have to follow a very demanding and set schedule, and Andre didn't want that.) Even when he was with the WWE he was regularly traveling to Europe or Japan so yes it didn't make sense to put the title on him. Andre was such an "attraction" and it didn't matter if he was World champion, but I was glad that WWE did reward him with a very brief title reign.

It has to be Jake "The Snake" Roberts. He was always in the most high profile feuds, but couldn't quite get a title around his waist. I think they should've at least given him the Intercontinental Title or something. He was a big part of the WWF breaking into the mainstream and was always one of the most popular or most hated wrestlers in the company.

maybe for WWE:Jeff hardy, shamrock, and kevin nash (great heel in nWo)
ECW:RVD(choice)

Jensei Shinzaki in Japan. I'll have to agree with that one.

He's one of the most underrated men in professional wrestling. I've seen the man do his rope walk chop on barbed wire while barefoot.

Also had some great tags and matches with Hayabusa.

Anyway, here's my list of greats that never held the WWF/E heavyweight championship. (IC champs and tag champs are included in this list).

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Dean Malenko
Owen Hart
"The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith
The Dynamite Kid
"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka
Harley Race
"The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase
Jake "The Snake" Roberts
"Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig
"Ravishing" Rick Rude

And although they're still wrestling with WWE, I doubt they'll ever win the WWE heavyweight title, or the world title on Smackdown, so I'll add them to the list.

David "Fit" Finlay
William Regal

You mustn't be very well versed in your wrestling history.

Kevin Nash was WWE heavyweight champion for the better part of a year under the name Diesel.

The Natural Butch Reed and Koko B. Ware were decent in their era and never got WWF gold. But Jake Roberts has to be the biggest to never get the strap.

wow alot of ppl misread this question, but i'm gonna go with jake roberts as being the biggest, he deserved atleast one title reign,
did brutus the barber ever hold the tag titles? i cant member with who
