Ask FunKay a Question

Did it come down to Ty's decision if the match would have a clean finish or if it was going to be ruled a no contest?

Not really. We were kicking ideas around and Ty pretty much laid down that he was happy to do the job, so when I picked the match, I came up with the finish, likening it to when the 1-2-3 Kid pinned Razor on Raw; it was out of nowhere, didn't make the heel look weak and made the hero look tremendous in comparison. That's a very difficult thing to do, trust me.

When the World Champion is in a match and it is ruled a no contest is it safe to assuming the champion was out-RPed?

No, certainly not. If we feel a no-contest is the right way to go with a match, we'll take it that way, but the WHC can be beaten like any other RPer. Often at times it falls on the match writer himself to decide where they are going. For example, I chose to have the tag match at Apocalypse end in a cluster-fuck because it seemed like the most sensible thing to do given the situation and number of factors I had to include.

Take for example, we were originally going to have Callahan vs. Showtime occur on Meltdown or Ascension and that would've ended in a no-contest so we could further the story at the time. We don't do it often, but when we do, it's not to protect anyone, regardless of who they are.

Has a situation ever arose where you completely disagreed with a decision made by creative?

I was fairly against the Triple Threat that we had this year at KC. I thought everyone involved should've been in different places, but everyone else seemed set on it.

It wasn't my decision alone if that's what you're asking. Key thing is that Sab did beat me straight up voting wise and I will be the first to admit I semi phoned in that RP against him. While it may have been a ho hum finish had outside interference happened and caused a no contest with no one really raising an eyebrow, I felt that if someone beats me straight up, they deserve to get the win. And really I think it did far more for Saboteur ending the undefeated streak then it would have had someone like Showtime who's beaten me in the past be the one to end it. As you can see now Sab's moved on to some successful feuds as well as Tag Team Champion.

I'm not afraid to take a loss by any means, if it tells a good story and elevates my opponent, a loss often times helps far more then a victory. Hell look at my last two cycles before I left, I think I won one match out of my last seven, and that was more because my two tag team partners knocked it out of the park.

What in your opinion is the most interesting thing going on in WZCW kayfabe?

Not sure. There are a lot of good things going on right now, but if I had to say one in particular, I'm liking the tag division's "whodunnit" storyline (noting I built a lot of it up).

Can I have an open challenge at All or Nothing?

I have no idea at the moment. That's not even remotely being discussed just yet.

What did you do when you were fired? Did you sign on?

Were you shocked that Cooper was voted into the KO match at Unscripted?
Did you shake your fist angrily after it?

Funkay who do you prefer:
S.mouse, S.Mouse! or Shwayne Booth Jr.?

No, you marketed yourself pretty hard and you did a good job getting into the match, and no I didn't shake my fist angrily, I was kinda pleased (I hadn't had the option to write a triple threat in awhile).

Shwayne Booth Jr. if only for the name. It's fantabulous.

Who were the nine people that voted for Cooper? I've got Dagger, Dynamite, Uncle P and I just off the top of my head. These people were the force behind a revolution.

How disappointed are you in the whole STA thing?

Do you think Sam Smith, we talking character so don't go getting hot people, will have a similar run to Blade? He's the type of heel that's always around the mid card area, used well to put rising faces over, but never broken through to the main event?

Will Aftershock continue to feature top talent like it is this week or is this just a one off thing to try and get people interested in reading it?

What do you fear the most, FalKon as Head of Creative or Triple X?

FalKon as head of creative. Soooo many ponies. Bring it on.

I feel like I shouldn't have trouble, but I really have had issues with my post Strikeforce RPs. I think it is due to trying to transition from comedic relief in a team to legit singles threat. Do you think a slow change would be better or should I drop the comedy all at once? Personally what would you like to see from Stormrage going forward?

Not sure I can reveal them or if I even know where the list of them is at the moment. I'll have a look for you tomorrow.

Pretty. Remix pretty much gave us his character's storyline on a plate and we said go do it because it was a great idea that could've delivered so much. Unfortunately he had a bit of a falling out with creative for various reasons and hasn't been online for awhile.

I think if Crock changes it up a bit he could rise higher. Smith's got a lot of potential to go far (as did Blade). If anything, I see him as more of a Constantine than a Blade; inconsistent at times, on fire at others, capable of anything if he sets his mind to it.

It will most likely fluctuate. We've loaded the card this time round because it's a loaded round for all the shows. Aftershock has a lot of different stories this week coming into it as do the other shows and it's an interesting time for WZCW.

Triple X is damned impressive (if we're using JR English here), but FalKon as head terrifies me (as I might well be his number 2 if the time ever comes, and that'd be a worrying working relationship).

Balance. Mikey's in a dark place right now and he's going to have to be deadly serious at times, but you don't want to sacrifice your character for that feeling. Mikey's still a big, lovable nerd at the end of the day and if you can keep the core of the character while painting the dark emotions around him, you're onto a winner.

Could you expand on that thought? I'd love to see what changes you think should be made.

Try and work our where you'd like to see your character to develop to over a full PPV cycle and figure out how you want to get there step by step. At the same time, try and see what hasn't been done in WZCW for awhile (or ever) with both a character and direction and see where those ideas can take you. Step outside your comfort zone once in awhile. Smith is always so serious so a comedic RP for example would do wonders one week. Just try and be unique whilst staying true to your character (like I said with Yaz/Mikey).

What happened to the thing you requested we do before Unscripted? You know about the roster page?

After reading Crock's latest RP, I'm reminded of one of my biggest pet peeves about this place. And that would be when someone writes an RP with swearing beyond the level that would be acceptable in a mainstream American wrestling promotion. I mean I know wrestling fans are low brow. But I hold some people here to a higher standard than that.

How does that kind of stuff sit you with, oh FunKay-e-ous one?

Well that's one way to put it. An accurate one, to be quite honest. Though, there weren't quite "various" reasons for the falling out. The number of reasons is exactly two from my perspective. The issue I had, and the angry PM I sent communicating that issue. There were some other less important things that made it into aforementioned PM but they would have been ignored if not for Issue 1.

What's your opinion on the verbal RPs? Worth doing again?

EDIT: No wait, three reasons. The way I ended the RP would have made things worse.
