Ask FunKay a Question

Unfortunately the selfish asking of one's own character shall continue Funkay, hit me.

Kryto is quite fun. When me and Numbers were thinking up the Metorship programme and it's participants, we knew there was a lot of potential for Krypto to work with Saxton and Saboteur, and we knew it could be gold. There is still a fair bit of improving to go, but you're getting there.

In your opinion, what makes a good RP?

To me, there is no quintessential theory. You just need to express what you want to get across, all the while hitting the right notes for your character. I talked about how Doc sometimes doesn't talk about his opponents, but at the end of the day, if his RP quality is astounding, I can forgive that. It's the expression of your imagination, so there can be no fixed RP archetype for me.

What (or who) has been the biggest dissapointment for you in WZCW?

This question has already been asked...

And just so the questions do not stop, biggest disappointment/missed opportunity?

And answered...

I was dissapointed in Holmes vs. Gordito. I wanted that to be more because of the story that could've been told. Outside of that, Barbosa or Kravinoff getting an extended run with the WHC would've been nice too.

If you were to retire Holmes after this cycle and start RPing with a new character straight away, what would his replacement's gimmick be?

Kravinoff. Obviously.

I'll give you another one with Kravinoff. I was very dissapointed that the return I personally had orgonised with kravinoff didn't pan out for LL this year. We had some great ideas for Kravinoff heading into KC too, so when Coco had to pull out due to personal reasons I was highly dissapointed. I'd still love to see that character make his return...

I was thinking about this (not because I'm going to retire Holmes, I was just thinking about it) yesterday and I'd love to do a character with a personal connection to Holmes, allowing him to act as a manager. Likely Holmes' nephew. I'd have Wade Barrett be his rep, and bill him as Supremacy (or something like that), essentially Holmes 2.0. The same, yet different.

Gosh darn it guys, stop being so selfish! :p

I'm going to be selfish and ask what you think of Alhazred and my RPs.

I'll add a non-selfish one I guess, favorite entrance theme?

There was a weird quirkiness to Alhazred back in the Forgotten Powers days that I loved. I really like the dream RP you did. Alhazred worked as a dark, brooding scientest too, and ultimately he's working well now as a more intense competitor. Like Barbosa, Alhazred is a guy who's flexible and that's great. I'd love to see Alhazred work more towards a goal in your RP's. That can be a great driving force. Even if you aren't in a storyline/feud, you can always strive for greater things by pushing for it in your RP's. I do it all the time.

Oh and I wrote it as Alhazerd for ages before someone corrected me. Sorry about that.

Theme music? Saxton, Titus, Saboteur, Kravinoff, Barbosa (x2), Blade, Ty (I eventually came to like 300 Violin Orchestra), Reynolds (2nd theme), Holmes and Everest all had/have perfect theme music for me.

I'll be selfish too. I'd love to know what I could work on.

Your biggest issue si that you're too self involved like Doc, but don't know how to write a compelling, entertaining narrative straight through, like he does. You go into Smith's life and you describe it and it's pretty dull. There's nothign in there that I wouldn't find on TV or in a book. Try to liven stuff up, and above all else, try to entertain.

Don't tease me. I have no time to be sucked back into this.

Do you find yourself enjoying the fed more as a member of creative? Or did you enjoy the fed more as just a standard member?

Does creative find it easier or harder to book the Saboteurs and S.H.I.T's of this world than it is to book the Constantines and Showtimes? Or is it about the same?

Kravinoff is too busy teaching his step-son survival techniques up a tree in the wilds of Kentucky.

What were your thoughts on King Baller, and should he be brought back?

It was fine for the lead-in to KFAD, but outside of that it wouldn't really work, especially given the result of the match. So that'd be a no on the comeback...unless there's something you have in mind.

And a question for the Funkster; what are some of the worst theme's in WZCW?

Black Betty was always weird for Doug Crashin. I never got the link of that song to the character. I'm not a fan of Krypto's theme at all. I don't hate dubstep, but my gooness I hate remixes of songs that are perfectly fine on their own.

And before I forget, I love S.H.I.T.'s current theme. I forgot to mention it before.

Do you see Kravinoff ever making a return to the fed?

Which current wrestlers do you think would make a entertaining stable?

If Coco wants to make it happen, has the time and wants to talk to me or anyone else on the team about it, we can discuss it. Channeling my inner cliche; never say never.

Titus, Rush and Saboteur; The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Do you find yourself enjoying the fed more as a member of creative? Or did you enjoy the fed more as just a standard member?

I wouldn't say it's more fun, but being on creative is different to being just a regular member. Being on creative you can find out a ton about the past and get a clue about the future too. We also have great fun plotting and discussing direction. And of course, bitching about everyone else ;)

Does creative find it easier or harder to book the Saboteurs and S.H.I.T's of this world than it is to book the Constantines and Showtimes? Or is it about the same?

It all depends on the situation, and who is behind the character. Barbosa is easy to book, because we are always in contact with him as a user as well. He lets us know where he thinks he should be going, and then we could adapt that into our plans. That's why we encourage guys to get in touch with us over their characters.

You said you had a favourite brony but you still hated all of them... I don't care if I'm the favourite but why do you hate me?

If you had to pick one thing about Steven Holmes that you had to change, what would that be? It could be from any stage of Holmes' career (starting at designing your character application to the present moment)

The ponies are really, really annoying. They fall into that irritating hipster category for me, but that's another discussion entirely. Oh and, because who doesn't hate FalKon? [ /kayfabe]

That's a good question Falks. I'd probably have made him more agressive in terms of his belief that he was "born better" than the rest of the roster back in the early days. It was something I wanted to do, but go caught up in the whole Mayhemk fiasco we had going on at the time so it never came to pass really.

What's your opinion on the "Lee method" of RP writing?

I..don't know what that would be.

What's your favorite kind of cookie?

Has their ever been talks about a brand split? I wouldn't want one but it would be interesting to see how it would play out.

Triple chocolate chip. We do some at the supermarket where I work and they are supreme.

It nearly happened once back during the late Lee/early Phoenix era if I recall correctly. It was briefly discussed when the roster size became three pages long in terms of profiles, but it was never really seriously thought of.

It's a term coined by JGlass to refer to writing an RP which talks about the past, present and future that Lee (and other people in the fed) use as their go-to structure for an RP.

Well it's something I often employ so it's fine for the most part. It's a good structure to follow, especially if you're a newcomer. It's basic, easy-to-follow and useful to have. Good stuff.

This makes me sound a bit Hogan-ish.

Creative Control, you should all have it...

Brother!

What's your opinion on the "Lee method" of RP writing?

In FK doesn't mind, I would like to pitch in about this.

The problem with it is the some see it as a "method" rather than what it actually is - an outline. I always incorporate something about the previous round, my opponent, current feud and a character development no matter what Barbosa is doing. Using it thusly gives a stability to an RP and helps it relate to your past efforts as a continuing story.

The problem arises when people use it as a crtuch or even worse, the centre of the RP as it makes a lot of RPs the same - "That bastard cost me that match last week, I am going to take out my frustrations on my opponent this week to show that bastard what he is in for at the PPV."

Funkay, what five things would you change about the fed? Could be anything from the shows to characters to the way we do things back "there". :D
