In TNA's press release this morning:

Angelina Pivarnivck, a former cast member of MTV’s megahit series “The Jersey Shore,” is taking her talents into the wrestling ring. Angelina will appear on two upcoming “TNA iMPACT” episodes on SPIKE TV, Thursday, March 3 at 9:00pm ET/PT and Thursday, March 10 at 9:00pm ET/PT.

In the episode, Angelina will meet and partner with the wrestling duo “The Shore,” comprised of Cookie and Robbie E, and make her professional wrestling debut in the TNA ring. Angelina and “The Shore” share a mutual hatred of “Jersey Shore” star, J-Woww, whom she will challenge publically to meet her in the ring for a full-on brawl.

Thoughts on this? Concerns?

A storyline that's relative to current pop culture and that's generating a little mainstream publicity? Good move by TNA.

As much as I may be ashamed to admit it, but I have watched 'Jersey Shore', and want to see J-Woww and Angelina rumble..... but just not on TNA programming. I think that this will stir up alot of the TNA fans that have no desire to watch garbage from a couple of reality show 'hall of famers'.

To me, it doesn't really need to take place in a TNA ring where they could be dedicating some of that TV time to showcasing some of the talent that they always preach about. While I'll still probably watch it, and maybe have a laugh at it... A big part of me has to dissagree with this direction.

I'm not sure if "The Shore" gimmick worked when J-Woww came in the first time, but obviously it must have to some extent, if they are going to do it again.... Right? :icon_neutral:

It's David Arquette/Jay Leno syndrome all over again.

They bring these people in and pay them all this money to try to generate some kind of tiny rise in the ratings. Yet they don't polish and craft their product to keep the viewers if they get them. Plus they piss off their current talent, the ones that could keep the viewing audience and that they should be making happy so they don't lose them to greener pastures. It's classic Russo booking that didn't do squat for the last company he did it for.

It's a waste of f'n money and doesn't do them any good unless they get more established. Obviously J-Woww (fucking dumb ass Jersey Shore shit anyway) didn't do much for them when they brought her in. Did they get some mainstream attention? Sure. BUT WTF DID IT DO IN THE LONG RUN FOR TNA?

Answer: Jack shit.

If they can pull off the match between the two Jersey shore skanks than this will be well worth their efforts.

While having just one Jersey shore member compete with the regular wrestling roster may get publicity, but it doesn't do much for ratings. Now on the other hand, being able to pull off an actual "wrestling Match" between TWO Jersey shore cast members, well, that's a draw. By draw, I mean this will draw from outside the normal TNA fan base, this may actually draw heavily from much of the Jersey Shore fan base.

There's no denying the popularity of Jersey Shore, and actually getting 2 cast members with a rivalry outside TNA to square off on a PPV would draw, no doubt.

Even though Jersey Shore is just a whole ton of ridiculos, I do applaud TNA for this move and it's only going to get them more viewers and more fans as the time comes. Believe it or not, the reality television show has a bigger fanbase than a lot of people realize and whether it's because they loved her on the Shore or because they want to see her ass kicked, more people are going to tune in just because of it. I think they key for them here though is to advertize because J Woww may not have made an impact but she wasn't on television long enough and unless people were clued into the wrestling business already, nobody would've known about it! We're going to have to see if this is more like a one or two week thing or if she'll stay long enough for her name to start circulating, because if it is the latter, I don't think it will be as bad as some people may think.

I hear Jenna Morasca is going to be training the two ladies.

This is happening two months too late. Robbie E.'s heat has died off; not that it's a knock on him, but it's the kind of angle that usually has a very short shelf life, and I don't think bringing in a Jersey Shore reject is going to breathe any new life into this angle.

The theory is there; co-promote your product with whatever is hot in the mainstream media. If this so much as gets TNA mentioned on MTV, it was worth it. But I think the point at which TNA could have capitalized on this particular celebrity juncture has passed.

Angelina and Cookie vs J-Woww and Snookie
Is it sad that I actually want to see this?
I'm actually a big fan of Jersey Shore....

I'm with you here, Rayne.

I loathe the Jersey Shore nonsense, but the window to capitalize on IMO has passed like you noted. The show is entering into it's second season, but at this point the real hoopla and controversy surrounding the show has lulled.

The time to really have capitalized on this would have been during the first season, just after the one girl got her face pounded in by a guy at a bar.

This will probably give them a momentary spike in the ratings again, just as the J-Woww angle did, but in the long run it won't mean dick. Waste of money if you ask me...

Frankly, I'm surprised how many of you seem to watch this show. I didn't realize there were so many 17 year old girls who posted on wrestling forums.

I don't know who TNA is trying to target with this. Do they think this will make more 17 year old girls watch TNA? To be honest, I have never even heard of this Angelina person before. And before J-Woww became a wrestler, I didn't know who she was. And before South Park made fun of Jersey Shore, I didn't know who Snooki was. My point is, very few men will publicly admit to watching Jersey Shore. It's the modern "The Hills" and it's main demographic is teenage girls.

Although I hear Jersey Shore is nothing more than glorified pro wrestling anyway. It's fake, but they don't generally ackowledge that it's fake. Just like wrestling. Only difference is pro wrestlers have been through formal training, and the Jersey Shore people are amateurs.

It's TNA's version of "Tough Enough".

Meh shes not on the show anymore so it doesnt interest me really. If TNA was smart they would put a legit Sammie Vs Ronnie brawl on TV. Now that would make some high ratings :lmao:

Exactly! Once again sir...:worship:

Now, on topic, TNA once again fails. Nothing wrong with trying to get publicity, but their so concerned with the small increase in ratings. The prepubescent boys and easily manipulated teeneage girls will only watch TNA to see Shore related crap. Once it's done, they'll stop watching more than likely. TNA needs to focus on what got them their fans in the first place and what put them on the map as a decent promotion. This will also drive some potential fans away. TNA should look at the big picture(or just listen to what AJ Styles said on Feb.3). Quit trying for such short little goals and do it for the long haul.

Even though she announced it on her twitter TNA was trying to keep this secret so isn't this a spoiler? Oh well. I have the same feelings on this as I did with the Bengals grudge match. From a drawing perspective it's a fantastic idea and has the potential to bring in a lot of fans of the MTV "hit." From a TNA fan's perspective this is just awful. They have to remember that TNA is on SPIKE not E or MTV. The male demographic really couldn't give 2 shits about some girl from Jersey Shore.

You know the whole "if this gets mentioned on MTV it was worth it" thinking is fine and dandy, until you realize how much money TNA is pissing away on these ladies. Didn't they give J-Wowww some ridiculous payday for her appearances, that put most of the wrestler's salaries to shame? And what did that do? Nothing. People in fact immediately TUNED OUT whenever J-Wowww came on screen. I don't see how this is going to be any different. Just another silly and stupid move from a company that seems to have monopolized that business ever since Hogan and Bischoff came aboard. They might as well just burn their money, they'll be getting the same return likely.

Is TNA trying to turn viewers away? :|
a stupid move but i guess if they want it, they've got it.

It's a 6 person tag with Robbie E, Cookie & Angelina vs i'm guessing Jwoww, Traci(if she's back) or Mickie and Karazian.

No matter how crap this turns out, it cannot be worse than the Sharmell/Jenna match. As long as they keep the real wrestlers in the match for as long as possible & angelina & jwoww catfight, then that's fine.

The window of oppertunity is still very open right now. JS is in it's 3rd season, and getting their higest ratings ever. The season 3 premier's rating was like an 8.9 cable rating. It is the higest rating for any reality show ever on MTV. That is insane. You know what are always their higest rated episodes are? It's when the cast fight(especially when the girls fight).

Angelina teaming up with the Shore is a good move. JS fans HATE Angelina, and JS love JWoww. Angelina talking shit, and possibly fighting JWoww might draw some people over from JS which airs 10/9c on the same night. Angelina has "unfinished buisness" w/ her former housemates.

I know the smart crowd won't like it, and internet fans will bash it, but this could possibly work depending on how they do this.

It's another one off that won't help anything in the long run. Sure, some Jersey Shore fans might tune in to Impact, but they won't watch long. They probably wont watch ever again. TNA is trying to get crossover between two drastically different audiances. It won't happen.

If MTV films this and airs it on Jersey Shore, than it was a great idea. However, I highly doubt that will happen. I'd imagine she's going to make at least 30,000 to 50,000 dollars for this considerting that the other one made 15,000 for just standing in the ring.

If TNA wants mainstream press they need to get out of the D list. I've heard of the Jersey Shore, but had no idea who Angelina was. I'm sure there's a hell of a lot of people, expecially in pro wrestlings demo, who are like me. If they want to be big they have to go big with their celebrities. Get Lady Gaga to do something with Orlando Jordon. Thats the type of thing that would make them a bigger company.

This wont give TNA the mainstream attention they desperately seek. Once the announcement that Justin Bieber will sing the national anthem at WM27, I'm not sure this move will be noticed by the mainstream media, at all. Wasted money, IMO

IMO this and all the Jersey Shore stuff is stupid, regardless of what ratings help it will bring. I like the main idea, but this doesn't really make sense. you want to bring in viewers from Jersey Shore? which just happens to air the same time as Impact.

what can this Angelina do? she's going to call out JWoww? what match does that set up in the future? if they are going to wrestle, it better be in a mixed tag team match where Robbie E and another wrestler are involved.

"Robbie E" is a waste as a gimmick. the wrestler himself could be good and have a bright future, but what is "Robbie E" going to do when Jersey Shore isn't around anymore.

I love the idea of bringing in celebrities, especially ones that are known by a lot of people.
if TNA really wanted to throw money at celebrities, I'm sure there are many more better options than the Jersey Shore idiots. Justin Bieber for example even for a one time thing would be HUGE! what would he do? no clue, but I guarantee you that would by far be the best rated Impact ever. "Beliebers" go nucking futs for this kid and spend a lot of money on him. seeing how he probably isn't an option, its all mute.. but I do like the idea of having celebrities involved.
celebrities are entertainment, wrestling is entertainment.

I can't say that I particularly care about this one iota, but it's easy to see why TNA is doing it. Jersey Shore is ridiculous, I could practically hear my own brain cells shriveling and dying horrible deaths the few times I've watched the show. However, it's a massive hit on cable and TNA is just trying to use its exposure to potentially increase its own. Can't blame Dixie for wanting to try to expand the audience.

I don't look for all that much to come out of this, however, because it's just really a little late for it. A lot of the shock value for Jersey Shore just isn't there as it was with the first season. Also, the heat that Robbie E. & Cookie generated some months back has long since dissipated.

Lined up with everything else that's going on for the March 3rd episode of iMPACT!, it'll probably cause a spike in the ratings but I doubt that there'll be any significant effect on the numbers in the long run.

Wow.....

Good job TNA. Another prime example of what you should NOT be doing. Oh yeah...lets get people who can't wrestle, train them for two months and then let them loose on each other in front of the world....or at least the 12 ppl watching IMpact.

Not a good idea.

The match is going to suck.

And if someone like Kazarian or even Robbie E himself has to be a part of this shit storm then I really feel sorry for them. :disappointed:

First off let me say, I never understood Jersey Shore's attraction. I'm offended by the fact that I work and bust my ass for little, while a group of overtanned, steroid popping, fist pumping losers are getting fame, fortune, and the adoration of millions for doing absolutely nothing. They don't belong on TV, they aren't worth a dime of all the money they make and if life was fair they'd be working a regular job like the rest of us. Only one that is worthy of TV time is Snooki but that's just because she has the size and look of an Oompa loompa. Next Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie, she should really get a role.

That aside, maybe in the short-term this will spike the ratings. Apparently this is something that Jersey Shore fans (Idiots) want to see. But in the long term, after they get their payday the Jersey ****es will go back to what they do best (nothing). Wrestling is too much like work for them anyway. Just a shame, because there are guys backstage with actual talent that have to sit and wait while these two stink it up in the ring.

if this works well ok, but part of the issue is time slot of the programs

TNA would have to run the match before 10pm when the actual jersey shore program starts or no one will flip over to see it. and after the wrestle 99% of the people who flipped to watch the match will be back to MTV.

it seems like a lose lose in my book but i wont compeletly pass judgement until i see what happens

Terrible idea in my opinion, I don't know why they think they're ratings will go up but getting people like this. Bart Scott im actually looking forward too, this junk im flipping the channel once it comes on.

The best thing (and by best I mean worst as is usually the case with TNA) is that Angelina is literally the most worthless member of the Jersey Shore cast. She left the first season after one episode, saw how much the rest of them cashed in, rejoined the cast for the Miami season, was hated by every single roommate and majority of the viewers of the show, and left early from that season as well. She's the D-list Jersey Shore cast member (and that's saying something) and TNA is looking to capitalize on Jersey Shore's name and draw some attention to their show - way to pick the WORST person from the show that nobody cares about.

Oh man, she's going to be awful as well. Honestly, I kind of want to see this "debut" because I can't keep my eyes off a trainwreck.
