Helped take WWE to the promised land in two different eras? No. If we were talking about Ric Flair and NWA or WCW, then of course, he be their Hogan, but this is WWE. Michaels did keep WWE from going out of business for about two years, but that is nothing compared to what Hogan did for WWE in the 80s or how Austin revolutionized wrestling in the 90s. Why do we think Raw is stale today when we see Cena, Orton, or HHH in every main event known to man, when WWE did the exact same thing with Austin, Rock, and HHH 15 years ago? Because they re-invented the wheel with 30-inch chrome spinners. They took Hogan's formula of delivering promos and pushed the envelope to the edge, making it impossible to surpass unless Cena said fuck every other sentence with no real purpose. Has HBK ever done that? HBK and Flair are among the top 10 people that have helped out the business to no end. But there's a difference between helping the business and revolutionizing it.

Damn, I deserve some post count from this thread.

I think you're forgetting something Kanye, lets not forget that Shawn Michaels actually pushed WWE into the Attitude Era, he did some revolutionizing stuff with DX, he pushed Austin over the top into the belowed spotlight that we call the Austin - Mcmahon feud (yes cause it didn't start before Austin became champion..)

Another way (in my opinion) that Shawn revolutionized the business was the tag teams, alongside Marty, they did things that wasn't really seen before, the high flying teamwork.
Also as a singles competitor did he do stuff that revolutionized, forgot the ladder match, the Elimination Chamber?... the Ironman match? don't try to tell me thats not revolutionizing right there.

As far as Flair yes he didn't revolutionize the E, but he did revolutionize the NWA and WCW. that has to count for something even if he wasn't in WWE during the time.

What I'm upset about is the fact that I can't watch WM26. I can't really afford it right now :(

I'm really ecstatic for WM but just pissed because I won't be seeing it.

Stream it on the monday or tuesday after, thats what I did for WM25 because they don't air wrestling in Denmark, and Denmark doesn't have any way to purchause PPV's, trust me, I tried to check it the week before WM25 cause I wanted to watch it live, but as I said, it's streamable :p

True about the high-flying stuff Ferbian. But with Austin, yes, there would be no Austin without Michaels. But praising Michaels for Austin's contributions to the business would be like praising JBL for Cena. It's unfortunate that HBK put people over for the larger part of his career, but he could have easily said no. Michaels is one of the nice people in this business. But if he wanted to become a legend, then he should've been into making history, not friends.

Well, if sources are to be believed, that's exactly what HBK did. It's how he won his first WWE Title.

Well we can't deny that Shawns antics alongside Chyna and Triple H wasn't a bigger cause to actually allow Austin to have the push he had, the bad mouthing and everything, Shawns boldness and egoistic attitude backstage which we all know off in the 90's allowed him to do bold stuff with DX that eventually went so far that the TV station they were aired on didn't want them to continue it, DX blows up their infamous president like speech "I did not sleep with that woman.. I was up all night!" (hehe) Vince saw it drew, they got incredibly popular and over with DX, without the antics of DX there wouldn't have been any antics of Austin, or perhaps there would, just not in the same way, if you ask me.

I'm not saying there would be an Austin without HBK, but HBK wasn't the one going out there revolutionizing the WWE.

HBK is suffering from the Flair syndrome. If HBK retired in 1998 and that was it, than he could be considered up there. Just like Flair would have been if he would have retired 15 years ago. Staying longer doesn't always enhance your legacy.

HBK is in his forties and Flair was in his sixties. HBK still puts on 5 star matches, Flair did not. I do not think a comparison can be made. He has in no way over stayed his welcome.

I feel this match can be better than last years also.

LOL, Bret Hart gets far more credit for helping Austin along then Michaels. If it wasn't for the Undertaker pretty much threatening to hurt Michaels before Mania 14, who knows what woul dhave happened.

HBK would have kept the title and Undertaker would have hurt him.

HBK was a whiny bitch back then, and wanted no part of the Undertaker and him making him "do the right thing".

I kind of wish that Undertaker still had the title when he will face HBK so he can beat him and then have the MITB winner beat the Undertaker. Imagine how that would go over.
