AJ Styles in the WWE?

First off let me say, no , this is not a thread saying has has signed with WWE.

Only that i was thinking about AJ and i looked around his days before TNA and then found out he had worked a stint in WCW and WWF and was offered a developmental contract.
Only to decline due to the reasons of relocation and his wife's college plans at the moment.
I was thinking if he had to accept that contract back in April 2002, where would he be in WWE and where would TNA be without him.
I think he would be a top heel on Smackdown and could have kept the cruiserweight division alive.

Right now I have no faith whatsoever in WWE's appreciation of wrestling talent (nevermind the fact they refuse to acknowledge it's wrestling). I don't think AJ would've been appreciated back then and certainly not now.

Just imagine, they would've given him a silly new name, asked him to tone down his style and made him toil as a midcard jobber. Basically what Bryan Danielson is going through now!

Plus he never would've had all those classic AJ/Joe/Daniels matches. They're not worth sacrificing.

I think that he could probably be a semi top guy in WWE, sort of like CM Punk's level but maybe not quite on the Cena/Triple H level. AJ is very good but he's not top WWE material. I really love AJ, I really do but I think that if he was in WWE, he wouldn't be up the very top.

I think saying he could have kept the cruiserweight division alive is wrong as it doesn't take one man to keep a whole division alive, it takes a whole bunch of guys. If they had the exact same cruiserweights they did during the last year of the title plus AJ it still would have died. You can't build a whole division around one man.

He'd be named J.A. Stiles for starters. I think Kaval is the script he would follow, not even Daniel Bryan. He would get buried. big time. He just doesn't have the size, he's not a WWE guy, and he isn't all that great on the mic. AJ is where he will do the best, and it is likely to remain that way.

How would AJ Styles get buried if he had signed the contract and stayed with WWF/E instead of going to TNA in the first place? Vince would have nothing to bury him about. The OP is asking what would happen with him if he signed the developmental contract and stayed instead of going with TNA.

I don't think he would have gotten the Kaval treatment. Kaval only got that because 1. He is a recogniseable TNA name, I recognised him as soon as he appeared on the NXT 2 preview and 2. They couldn't really do much with him hence why he asked for his release.

I don't disagree though that AJ will probably be a TNA guy until he either physically can't wrestle or TNA gets purchased by Vince.

A.J. already said in tons of interviews he would never go to the WWE again. He jobbed Greg Helms on WWE Metal back in the day lol. He's better off in TNA although as of this moment, TNA is being carried by fortune and soon to be Chrisopher Daniels.

Im not saying he could go now.
Im saying what would happen if he were to sign with WWE if he did not have a personal hindrance.
This is BEFORE he was in TNA.

I think it depends on when he wouldve signed. If it was during the later years of the attitude era, then I think over time he couldve been a high mid carder. Over time if Vince grew to like him I could see him getting a few world title shots. Remember, Vince didn't like Cena or Miz when they started all that much, but they played the game and now main event the biggest event in the biz. I agree AJ isn't fantastic on the mic, but he's not terrible. Its all abt getting Vince to like you and see you as a main event talent in the "E".

i dont know if its a likely hood that aj would go to wwe again, however if he was to, we could expect to see some great matches, of course like most hypocrites on this site (not to much offence meant) any match witrh aj styles in it would most likely be bagged on for something just like every other match.
