Aces & Eights and SOA

Pre-Show Stalwart
I'm so sick and tired of this comparison that it's not even funny anymore. People are so hell bent in finding any thing to bash against TNA that they don't even think, or even creative anymore.

Does these people not stop and thing they have been rebellious motorcycle gangs prior to Sons of Anarchy?

Sons of Silence?

Free Souls?

Warlocks?

Hell’s Angels?

Does none of those names not ring a bell?

What really gets me with this A&E comparison to SOA is the comparison of the "style" of the jackets.... Hello? this is the standard style to a large majority of the Motorcycle clubs. SOA didn't event anything, they didn't event the rebellious attitude!

The only comparison i could find is a freakin' poster!

Next, people are going to be making fun of Samoa Joe's weight... oh wait, they already have... IT'S LIKE HE'S THE VERY FIRST HEAVY SET PERSON IN PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING!

It's a shame really.

What's a shame is how thickheaded you are.

How exactly is comparing two very similar things bashing them? If you don't think TNA is running this angle because of the popularity of Sons of Anarchy, much like WWE runs a lot of its stories based of what's hot in pop culture at the time or like ANY OTHER FORM OF ENTERTAINMENT DOES, then you're a lunkhead.

I'm pretty sure this is like the 3rd time anyone has mentioned the similarities in these boards. Did that really drive you nuts?

Well at first I assumed it was just down to Bischoff's love of bikes. But I like the amount of effort that has gone into the group's details like the uniforms and ranks. But anyway I think they must've surely had SoA in mind.

But some fans are saying it like it's a bad thing. I personally enjoy it when gimmicks are influenced from things in pop culture. I can't think of any other recent examples except for Robbie E but stuff like it has been done in wrestling before. Ones that weren't so great were gimmicks like the KISS demon or The Artist.

Don't get me wrong, i think the A&8 storyline is dragging on and i've lost interest, but i'm hoping that they will start picking up and start unmasking at least one a&8 members weekly to create interest.

If you don't like theses threads or if you're calling me names or whatever you do, that's all fine, idk, nobody forced you to click the link to come here so that's all on you if these types of posts gets on you're nerves .

But comparing a&8 to SOA is just ******ed... That's like saying SOA is a Hells angles knockoff.

I'm not saying they didn't get the idea from the TV show, i'm saying people are comparing a&8 to SOA.. 90% of the people around the IWC are comparing the two based on their jackets and because they ride motorcycles.

You could very easily compare SOA to any outlaw mc.

Gee, it's almost like there's a popular TV show and a wrestling company is trying to make people think "hey, this is like that other show I like. I think I'll watch this."

My goodness this new generation is so stupid.

And the list keeps on going...

Hulk Hogan was a rip off of the Incredible Hulk.
Sting was a rip off of the Crow, then Ledger's Joker.
Razor Ramon was a rip off of Tony Montana.

You can literally list off dozens upon dozens of characters based on other things in pop culture.

Exactly. Wrestling always borrows from pop culture, it's been going on forever. It's not a bad thing that they're trying to capitalize on the success of SOA. In fact, a motorcycle gang seems like it would be a very easy thing to imitate in wrestling with a decent amount of success. Not to mention that most wrestling fans either are fans of SOA or would be if they watched the show. The problem is when they try to imitate things from shows that wrestling fans either don't give a shit about or criticize heavily. All of the Jersey Shore bullshit, the Big Brother thing they're trying to do with Tara, talks from both sides about trying to use fucking Honey Boo-Boo, etc.

It's not just that they wear jackets and are a motorcycle gang, ******. They try to shoot their vignettes the same way they shoot promos for the show, the music they use is clearly uses sample of the theme song for the show, and the terminology they use is pretty much dead on. It's not ******ed to compare the 2, it's pretty clear that they are 100% trying to use SOA to lure in viewers. It's not a bad thing.

I thought that somebody in TNA management has a creepy leather fetish.

C'mon folks, it's why Otunga wears half a gallon of lotion.

OMG, TNA is the WWE's BEST ANGLE EVER.

Fuck this shit. I'm going to get Chinese food.

Devon's jacket said Nomads on it. They story they're running on SOA right now is revolving around the Nomads. Still think it's a coincidence?

Well obviously SOA copied the Nomads angle from a REAL LIFE motorcycle gang at the same time that A&8's did...

Who fucking cares?

If you don't like it I don't know why you watch wrestling because (as every person on this thread has pointed out) wrestling does it all the time.

Yes, there were motorcycle gangs before SOA we all know this, we all know you could draw comparison to any one of them in some way but in case you didn't notice SOA is the only one relevant in pop culture these days and I would put any money on the line that if SOA didn't exist neither would Aces and Eights because it wouldn't be relevant to anything popular in this day and age. Aces and Eights exist for the same reason Robbie E exists and Jesse Godderz is on TNA television, in hopes fans of those shows get interested in the TNA product and at the end of it they get some new fans.
