So everyone is pissed because John Morrison (a guy who failed to get over about 345897634 times before) didn't get yet another chance by WINNING the tournament. He just got a HUGE rub 8 days ago, and then wins 2 matches tonight. I'd say this made sense. Sheamus is the king, JoMo was impressive for the 2nd time in 8 days.

Why not? Being a two-time WWE Champ, shouldn't that mean he should (kayfabe) be winning? Arrogant, heel, King promos are right up Sheamus' alley
Morrison needed it more that's the point. Or anyone else in the tournament other than Sheamus for that matter. The tournament is generally used to elevate someone to main event status and has had great success in doing it. Look at the list ... Hart, Austin, HHH, Edge, Angle, Lesnar, etc. Sheamus is the one guy in the whole tournament who did not need it, that's my beef.

or he could stay away from Sheamus, the guy whom put him out of action, and jump right into the WWE title scene, thus giving the title picture yet ANOTHER new face (Trippy hasn't been in the title scene in forever). Plus, they can revisit the taking him out of commission whenever, or use that as reason for Sheamus getting a shot at Trips if he won the belt. And if they don't, Sheamus uses it to get over even more, saying that Trips is afraid of him.
