90’s Region - 2nd Round - Futurama vs Step by Step

I think Futurama will probably take this one, to be honest.

I have seen nothing of Step by Step but having looked at a few clips on Youtube, I don't think it is something that I would very much like to watch on a regular basis. Having said that, Futurama is one of those shows that I don't see enough of. Personally, I love the show but I have never really wanted to watch it all that often. For me, this match is going to be an open and shut case with Futurama winning it and for good reason. I have always found Matt Groening to be a great writer and I fully expect Futurama to do well in this competition. The character of Bender is fucking brilliant. He is the stand out character of the show and the joy of watching him and Fry in the show is excellent. I don't know enough of Step By Step to make it get the vote here and as such, I am going to vote for Futurama.

Like I said in the first round, Futurama is very underrated and sadly overlooked due to The Simpsons, and it's not entirely fair. Futurama is a great show and it's a shame it got cancelled. Fry is one of the funniest cartoon characters I've ever watched and him and Bender are great together. The supporting cast is also incredible and really brings the show full circle. Futurama is great and deserves your votes.

Futurama is a show that I throw up when I am bored, but I don't love it. But it means something to me, as I said in the last round, because one of the episodes caused tears from my hazel eyes. Step by Step did nothing for me, and back when they had syndicated episodes, I watched some episodes that followed another TV show, but I usually would focus elsewhere, and wouldnt care much for it.

I actually kind of like Step by Step. It has a MILF and is a pretty enjoyable show that I've seen a few reruns of and generally liked.

However, I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of Futurama each and every time I watch it. Not enough can be said for the genius of Bender and as TM said, some of the episodes can be tear jerkers, for those of you that have a soul. The cartoon wins.

Man, I really want to come in here and diss Futurama. But as I mentioned in the first round, I honestly never gave the show a chance. I mean, really... I haven't seen one clip, let alone any episodes. Just commercials.

That said, right now I still have to say fuck Futurama, because it's up against one of my favorite sitcoms in history, Step by Step. Step by Step was just so much damn fun. The relationship between the parents, my main man Cody, the kids... there honestly wasn't one unlikeable character in the entire show. And that's impressive considering it had so many. But not one character was lame, and I don't remember ever really not liking an episode. Hopefully someday the show gets a DVD release. I already have the "Best of" on DVD, but that's not enough. A show this good deserves a DVD set.

Tough vote. Step By Step was probably a better show, but Futurama makes me laugh a lot more, and since this is a sitcom tournament, that secures my vote. i wouldn't be against either show winning here, but you should vote for what makes you laugh louder and harder.

Ok don't get me wrong here, Futurama is awesome.... (I even named my old laptop after Bender and my current one after Flexo) However, I still gotta give my vote to Step By Step because it was a great show that I grew up watching. It was like a modernized version of the Brady Bunch, using a similar formula of two families coming together through the parents marrying each other and then the kids fight a lot during most of the show. Futurama grew a little stale over the years (still funny though every now and then) but I'll never get sick of step By Step so I voted for it instead.

Futurama for the motherfucking win, all day, all night. I still contend it's Groenig's best work (yes even above the almighty Simpsons), and anything that can make me laugh for extended periods of time will alway get my vote. Step By Step has Suzanne Somers when she was at an all time MILF status, but that's about all I got from that show. Futurama gets my vote here.

I'm so, so disappointed in you JMT. Step by Step was fucking awful, even when I was seven years old I knew it was fucking awful. That was the darkest half hour of every Friday night imaginable man, absolutely terrible show that represents everything that is bland and kitschy and fucking mediocre in the world of sitcoms.

Futurama on the other hand is obviously brilliant. I've seen every episode many, many times and I'll never tire of the show, Bender is one of the funniest characters in television history. Plus I named my bong after him, so yeah, gets my vote here.
