Not a fan of Futurama. Hated it. But I LOVE John Lithgow and the cast of 3rd Rock. I thought that the tall chick was HAWT! Kristen Johnston's her name. Boy she's tall, too. The whole concept was ridiculous, but the cast is what made this show a success. Jane Curtain for God sakes. From SNL to this show. She was great. And a Tony Award winning actor in Lithgow doing a bang up job as the head of his alien family on Earth. Not to mention the incomparable French Stewart. Man he was wacky.

3rd Rock gets this for me.

This one is a very tough choice for me. I was and am a big fan of both shows. My vote here goes to Futureama because it is still going today and is still a funny show, when they make the movies they break them into episodes. I just loved all of the pop culture references in it and believe that it was canceled much to soon.

However, I will not dispute that 3rd rock from the sun was a good show. I thought John Lithgow was brilliant in it and also initiated my interest in Joesph Gordon Levitt. Both a great actors and I will take nothing away from the show. I can easily see why someone would vote for it.

I can't stand John Lithgow in anything that isn't Monty Python, and 3rd rock From The Sun just never clicked with me. Futurama, on the other hand, was hysterical, and I still make sure to get home from work in time to catch it on Comedy Central. The entire setting is great, and it's always fun too laugh at the future...

Voting for Futurama here. It didn't get the same hype or popularity as The Simpsons did and it's a shame because Futurama was a brilliant show. The future setting was unbelievably done well and the characters were amazing as well. Fry is one of my favourite tv characters and the rest of the cast was just made so great and hilarious. This show makes me laugh every time I watch it and it's a shame it didn't last or gain the populairty it deserved.

You know, I don't think I ever gave Futurama a fair shot. I need to one of these days, but it just never looked like something I'd be into.

3rd Rock from the Sun was another show I never gave a shot, but decided to once I became such a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And even though I love JGL, this show simply stunk. I sat through these episodes just shocked at how stupid it was, and how anyone could ever find it appealing. Which sucks because like I said... I'm a HUGE fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and desperately wanted to like this show. I also dig John Lithgow a lot (Harry and the Hendersons FTMFW).

But, even though I hated 3rd Rock from the Sun, I'm still going to give it my vote because of my main man JGL, and since I never actually seen Futurama. Sorry Futurama fans, but it is what it is.

I wasn't really a fan of Futurama at first, but the more I watch it the better it gets. It isn't really just a silly comedy, it's actually kind of deep at times, at least for a cartoon. My favorite episode was the one where the one eyed chick (Layla, or something like that) becomes awesome at baseball, or something similar to it. The movie type special was awesome as well.

3rd Rock was just meh for me, not anything that special.

I don't think that 3rd Rock will get past this round because Futurama is a really good show. However, I am voting from pure nostalgic value again and I feel as though I must give it to 3rd Rock. As a child, I used to huddle around the TV to watch it and I used to laugh hysterically at John Lithgow, who was very wacky in this show. I always thought that it was very random and I liked that. I still do. It's the whole reason that I still watch Family Guy. It was very random and is a better illustration of human life and satirical humour than Futurama is. I am not saying that Futurama is a bad show because it isn't by any stretch of the imagination. It's just that I preferred 3rd Rock.

Oh fuck you TDigs. Fuck. You. You just HAD to pit two of my all time favorite shows against each other, didn't you? Jerk.

Futurama is awesome, we all know this. But it was never as good as The Simpsons, and if it's not even Groening's best show how can it advance here?

3rd Rock From the Sun was my favorite show when I was a kid. I know, I say that alot, but I'm really not lying. For about a year or two period there this really was my favorite show. John Lithgow is a genius and one of the most underrated actors ever, be it in comedy or drama (his time on Dexter has proven that to some of you). You throw in a kick-ass cast including French Stewart, Wayne Knight, and an already talented beyond-his-years Joseph Gordon Levitt? Yeah, you've got gold. And I forgot to mention Jane Curtin, one of the original members of the Saturday Night Live cast! God what a great cast.

Great cast, great writing, just a fucking GREAT show. If you've never seen the episodes with William Shatner guest starring as their "leader" from their home planet...holy fuck what are you waiting for, go watch it NOW. For those of you that love That 70s Show, bit of trivia here, this was the first show by the same writers/producers who came up with That 70s Show. Frankly though I think it's probably better than That 70s Show ever was.

Vote for 3rd Rock From the Sun people. I BEG OF YOU!

Futurama is excellent, and the only show that I own every episode of, now that they've brought out another Shameless series. Third Rock is alright, but it is just one of those shows that you have on in the background. It has very little depth for me. Futurama is funnier than The Simpsons in my opinion, and it cheered me up immensely to watch the new series after nearly feinting after giving blood, so it wins here.

Third Rock was good and Lithgow was tremendous but Futurama is an oft forgotten gem. Bender and the line "Oh, a lesson in history from mister I'm-my-own-grandpa! Let's just get the heck outta here! Scr** history!" are enough to secure my vote here

I enjoyed 3rd Rock from the Sun as a kid, but I really just followed my heart to the easy choice here and voted Futurama. Y'all remember the episode when the dog dies? Yeah, legit tears and shit. I confess I don't watch it anymore, so it wont get many of my votes after this, but it was much better than 3RFTS.

3rd Rock From The Sun was good when it first started. It had my family rolling in laughter but really about a quarter through it's first season I lost interest and never really got back into it.

That being said, I watch Futurama every chance I can get. I was so pissed when Comedy Central bought the rights to it away from Adult Swim and didn't give it's proper due as a legit series again like AS wanted to. People say that it's not as funny as the Simpsons but I disagree. I'm gonna get flak for this but I just never got into the Simpsons, where as Futurama had me hooked from the get go. Futurama gets my vote here.

NSL John Lithgow was never in Monty Python. I think you are meaning John Cleese. But this is difficult as I love both of these shows. Futurama was witty and brilliant and I have no idea if it is still being made. Bender is the epitome of what life should be. Drinking Alcohol to not be drunk.

As for Third Rock, loved it, the episodes with the dreams, the ones where William Shatner is the Big Giant Head. Futurama gets slightly dated due to certain things like the Beastie Boys and all that as well as a few other references, but Third Rock has aged brilliantly.

interesting you bring up the dog episode, thats the sole reason I am voting for Futurama.. I never really enjoyed the show, just as i never really enjoyed third rock... however that dog episode really got me like very little animation has and just for that it gets my vote
