80's Region - 2nd Round - Cheers vs Blackadder

I was never really a fan of Cheers. Blackadder, in the other hand, is one of my favourite shows to ever air.

The comic timing by some of the actors involved was exceptional and Rowan Atkinson really showed us how great of a comedian he is in this series. His dry wit and sarcasm was fucking amazing and one of the main reasons that I continually tuned into watch the show. Cheers does not hold the same draw as Blackadder for me. Blackadder has a brilliant cast and this show really did wonders for them. Without Blackadder, there would no Rowan Atkinson. I believe that he made his name in this show and has continued to be a great comedian and physical actor since. It is my guess that there would be no House. Mainly because Hugh Laurie made his name in Blackadder and really cemented the fact that he was destined for big things.

So yeah, Cheers was good but Blackadder is pretty exception in terms of jokes. It's laugh a minute stuff and the humour really related to me.

I'm definitely voting for Cheers because it's better than Blackadder and it always made me laugh. It was one of those shows where even the bad episodes were hilarious. Cheers is one of the best and it will probably make it far in this tournament.

Simply put Blackadder is some of the most biting satire that is around. It is freaking hilarious at the same time. Cheers was just look at the situation its supposed to be funny, this character says his catchphrase here. Blackadder also has a lesson in History for everyone in the episodes.

The first series of Blackadder is shit, but the other three are so far and away better than Cheers that I voted for it. Cheers is ok, and is good for a few laughs, but it only really operates at one obvious level. Blackadder had depth in its comedy, as exemplified by Shadowmancer's videos, but it also had real poignancy sometimes, as exemplified in the final episode of the war series. All in all Blackadder is more dynamic and it deserves the win here.

Blackadder sounds British, I guess being non British I should vote against it. hey, is it pronounced back-hand-her? Because that is funny, Cheer's name is just what you say when you are drinking... wait, and the show is based in a bar! Two points against each other right there.

But I am voting Cheers. I started watching reruns of the show about 5 years ago and I fell in love with it. It really did give that family feeling of belonging as the song states.

Cheers was nothing compared to what good olde Slackbladder was. Dave summed this up perfectly, and it astounds me to see it losing against fucking Cheers. Cheers was alright dont get me wrong, but doesn't deserved to be mentioned in the same sentence as Blackadder. Unfortunatly Blackadder finds itself in ''The stickyest situation since sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun'' here and will probably go out. Its a shame it really is, it seems like most people on this forum wouldn't know good comedy if it came and bit them in the arse.

Yeah, Blackadder all the way. House got me into Hugh Laurie so naturally I had to check out this show and it's a damn funny show, much more so than Cheers, and I actually liked Cheers. Lots of great actors on that show, but in the end of the day I'm a sucker for Hugh Laurie, and my vote goes to Blackadder.

So yeah, TDigs when you see this I'm going to delete one vote from Cheers and give one vote to Blackadder, as I accidentally voted for Cheers.
