Well, at least like, Movement is with the Control/Slide Pad, and attacking with the ABXY buttons... I wouldn't mind the C-Buttons being done with the stylus, but I want to move and slash with FUCKING BUTTONS.

They should keep the L button for Z-Targeting like they did in Ocarina for GC... But didn't Z-Target have such a great ring to it?

There is also a Saints Row and Final Fantasy titles, but need more information on them first. Saints Row Drive By sounds a tad ...off.

Well, they've got everything they need for this to be a huge success. Handheld consoles are usually not as... Shall we say deep?... As home consoles. They usually have short games that are just about fun. But looking at the list of games coming out for it (I mean, Ocarina of fucking Time!?) this will equal the home consoles.

Go play with skittles

I'd happily go play with Skittles. However I wouldn't pay to do it. Don't get me wrong I'm not making out that all the Xbox announcements where groundbreaking. I know they are playing catch up in the whole motion sensor area but Kinect looks really good, taking what Nintendo did and improving it.

I'm also not knocking Nintendo, I have had a few Nintendo consoles in my time and most have been pleasing. I just felt from the release of the Gamecube they tailored to the kid demographic. Everygame seemed to be either another ridiculous Pokemon game or something silly like whats out for the DS now. If you look through the DS releases at the moment there is silly games like Peppa Pig and Ben 10. Why? Because its for the kids.

1. you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Paper Mario is far from a kids game, it's a fucking Mario game. not taking itself seriously =/= kids game. And have we seen a Pilotwings since the SNES game, which was a masterpiece supposedly (I never played it)?

Oh I'm sorry for missing the 3000th Mario game made for a nintendo console. The rest is kiddie games. Pilotwings was out for the 64 called Lylat Wars IIRC it was fantastic.

2. Mario Kart is always awesome. It is just varying degrees of awesome.

The SNES version of Mario Kart was awesome, the 64 and DS versions were terrible and ridiculously repetative. No where near enough courses on the game. I haven't played the Wii version but would like to because I enjoy Mario Kart.

3. Lee laughed (as did I) at he X-Box announcement because all the games were childish kiddie games that people laughed at Nintendo for showing a couple years ago. I won't say the games won't be pretty good, but they seem to be copies of old stuff done by nintendo.
Kinectimals = Nintendogs
Kinect Sports = Wii Sports (and the track game for NES that had the mat you ran in place on, which I had 20 years ago)
Kinect Kart Racer (or whatever it was called) = Mario Kart, without the Mario license.

Fair enough Microsoft are cashing in on a popular market. But I'm guessing you failed to see the Star Wars game using Kinect and the trailers for exclusive xbox games Gears 3,Fable 3 and Halo Reach among otherthings.

And all the 3rd party games were insanely non-childish. Metal Gear Solid, Saints Row, etc. Typical Anti-Nintendo bullshit.

Games that other consoles have? When was the last time Nintendo developed a decent game that wasn't Mario/Zelda or tailored for children?

Mario is kind of over-rated, I think.

SMG, I think, was poor and I have no interest in playing SMG2. The best Mario games were the ones of the past like Super Mario Bros etc.

How is it taking what Nintendo did and improving it. If anything they are taking EyeToy and improving that. And charging 3 times as much for it. It really is just a new version of EyeToy, which was a PS2 gimmick. It really isn't motion control, as it is a video camera control. Sony is copying Nintendo (pretty much exactly) with Move. And Gamestop put Kinect at 149.99. If that's how much it will cost, then Microsoft is trying to get the casual gamer by making them spend over 500 dollars (system, Kinect, game, maybe Live). Not a smart business strategy, since a more proven entity is less then half the price.

Gamecube was tailored to kids, no doubt about it. Wii is tailored to everyone, no doubt about it, just like the DS. But just because the games aren't in HD and have a crapload of realistic blood doesn't mean they are kiddie games. I'm an adult, and a so called "hardcore gamer," and a lot of the Nintendo releases appeal to me, because they are quality games. I'd take a good Wii game with solid motion control and a great story over some bloodfest on 360 (even Modern Warfare 2, which I loved).

And it's obvious you didn't read the list of 3DS games. most of the games were NOT so called "kiddie games." Metal Gear Solid, Ghost Recon, Saints Row, etc. All of these are M rated games.

I can't believe how wrong you are. Mario Kart 64 took everything the SNES game did, and did it over 9000 times better. 64 was the best Kart in the series. The Gamecube version was OK, and was somewhat outside the box. The DS game wasn't terrible either. The Wii game, from what I played, was awesome.

Why should the Mario Kart games NOT be repetitive. People love what they did, and if they changed it everyone would bitch (like they did with Double Dash for Gamecube). Not t mention it's kind of hard to take the Kart racing genre and completely overhaul a game. At the end of the day it's Karts racing around a track.

actually, you're right, I missed the first half hour of the event, and the Star Wars game. And my opinion is bias, because I hate both Halo and Gears with a passion. Fable is pretty cool, but I never got into it.

I know they did more then just the Kinect stuff, but that pretty much was more then half of the event, and a lot of what I saw was pretty much a copy of Nintendo games. Star Wars looks cool, but I'm not spending 200 bucks for the game (150 for Kinnect and 50 for the game).

Games that other consoles have? When was the last time Nintendo developed a decent game that wasn't Mario/Zelda or tailored for children?
When was the last time they needed to? And as I said before, no over the top violence doesn't mean it's designed solely for children. Wii has outsold every other system by a wide margin, and still make kickass games, so they are obviously doing something right.

You're not trying to make it sound groundbreaking, but Microsoft sure are.

That's the problem with gamers these days. They confuse games that are for everyone with games that are for kids... Many Wii games are for everyone.
Yeah, there's some games that are just for kids, like Ben 10 and such. But the Xbox 360 has Ben 10 too. And Bee Movie. And Hanna Montana. See, just because the kids games seller better for Wii, doesn't mean they're only on Wii.

Meh, some people are still excited about Final Fantasy games. And at least Mario tries to keep things fresh. Also, Pilotwings isn't Lylat Wars...?

Mario Kart 64 was fantastic, I thought. The 4 player multi-player was epic.

Originality is taking a harsh blow in the games industry these days...

Metroid. Not that you've ever played it, I'm guessing....

No. That's Star Fox.

Metroid > Halo, Gears, MW and any other shit with guns that isn't 007.

Yes. Game looked awesome. Swinging invisible swords in a closed space, not so much.

Good christ they're making DJ Hero 3D now?

Hello? Why not, I don't know, ACTUALLY DJ IN REALITY? God what a pointless, awful fucking game that is. Like if you're already going so far as to buy equipment to pretend to be a DJ, and now throw 3D in to try and make it more "real", why the fuck don't you actually just buy DJ equipment? I really despise that game.

All of the 'Hero'/Rock Band-type games blow. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a peripheral guitar for a home console like $70 along with the game? Facking ridiculous I tell you.

wow. for the first time in my memory the handheld carts for a Nintendo handheld have gotten much bigger. I am shocked.

I wouldn't say MUCH bigger. The only real difference in size looks to be the little tip on the upper right hand side. Everything else looks to be the same size. It is the first time that Nintendo handheld games didn't shrink, but you can't get smaller then a DS cart really.

Definitely pumped for the 3DS. Apart from the Starfox and OOT remakes, I'm especially excited for the new Paper Mario since I LOVE that series. Maybe they'll incorporate a bit of the flipping technique from Super Paper Mario and mix it with the 3D capabilities.

Also, there's some Nintendo-iz-for-teh-kidz BS going on in this thread. And Dave actually called SMG bad :disappointed:

I said much bigger because I thought that the perspex thing saying '3DS game card' was in fact the card. I assumed the thing that looks to be roughly the same size as a DS cart was an old DS cart to show the size difference.
