2012 NFL Draft LD

I doubt it. He wouldn't have lasted. Someone would have likely traded up to get him ahead of Cleveland.

They needed a QB to throw the ball. There was no good WR available at 22. If you think Colt McCoy is your QB you're insane, he's terrible, and has never been good. Weeden is the best QB available. Hell, if he was younger he would have been a top-5 pick. He will have an immediate impact for this team. Get a WR in the 2nd round.

I never said I thought Colt was our QB. This was the wrong year to take a QB for the future. I'm fine with trying something at 37, you never know, but look, let's be honest. The offense is still shit even with Richardson, because there's no QB and there's no WR. They have the worst schedule in the NFL in 2012. They'll have the #1 pick next year in all likelihood, rendering this pick totally wasted.

Should have taken Glenn and seen what was available at 37. If Weeden was there? Alright, whatever. If not, it probably doesn't matter, considering Barkley is probably coming to the team next year.

Another great pick for the Patriots. They get a pass rusher in Chandler Jones and a versatile linebacker in Dont'a Hightower to play with Jerod Mayo.

Gabbert is clearly worse. Not saying McCoy is good, I just think a younger McCoy who already has more experience in the Browns system is better. Neither are great choices.

Really happy about the Pats, though. Arguably having the best draft (besides the top team picks of course).

FUCKING FUCKING FUCK FUCK!
I was hoping Harrison Smith would fall to the Jets in Round 2 (or they would trade up to get him).

Outstanding first round. I've wanted the Vikes to draft Kalil since day one and they picked up 3 other picks on top of getting the OT I wanted. Trading back up into the first to get Harrison Smith? Cherry on top, bonus, whatever, I'm stoked. Still don't have a stud corner but we gotta start somewhere.

Be glad that didn't happen. Smith is overrated due to be the next best safety after a good one. He's not all that great though and reminds me WAY too much of Eric Smith. Plus, the Jets just signed Yeremiah Bell who should be an upgrade at FS. Landry if healthy should be sick back there. And by sick I mean he'll likely take someone's head off each week.

I'm iffy on Coples. He'll play the opposite side of Wilkerson and could be useful. He certainly looks adept at batting down balls. However, I still don't like that we NEVER get that elite pass rushing 3-4 OLB. Ingram fell right to us and we didn't take him. I fear how good he will become in San Diego.

Harrison Smith is a beast. He'll be a beast for Minnesota. He's a very good player. He's everything the Jets needed in a Safety, and unfortunately they won't have the chance to get him. Don't even try to tell me otherwise, I've seen the guy play countless times, he's gonna be good.

I forgot about Yeremiah Bell, but he's a downgrade over Jim Leonhard (who hopefully the Jets re-sign ASAP).

He is a top-7 talent that went at 16 because of motivation "issues." Rex can get the guy to play motivated football.

Pretty thrilled with the draft. I got caught up in wanting the flashier player in Claiborne or Blackmon, but in the end I'm pretty happy with Kalil. Back at the beginning of the year he was the guy I wanted and like I said got caught up in the flashiness. I still thought Kalil would be great, just not as good as the other two. And Harrison Smith, don't get me started on him. Absolutely love the kid. My favorite safety prospect (even more than Barron). I think the kid is gonna be a stud and once we traded up I knew he was the guy. I literally jumped out of my seat at the bar. Pretty excited over the first round.

Tomorrow I expect us to go with a CB in round 3 (someone like Josh Robinson from UCF (unlikely) or Jayron Hosely from VT) or a WR (Melvin McNutt from Iowa preferably).

Smith looks like he can play but I just wasn't that high on him. Wish the best for him but I also don't believe much in drafting a safety in round 1 unless he is elite. I don't see Harison as elite. Good player but not elite.

Leonhard isn't coming back. He was the strong safety and the Jets upgraded to Laron Landry. When both are healthy, Landry is the better player by leaps and bounds. Bell will play the free safety and I hope he's ok in that spot. I still am hoping corners are added so Cromartie could move to FS. I think he'd excel there. Big, rangy guy that likes being a ballhawk? Sounds perfect no?

I like Coples and I know the talent is there but I do fear the motivation stuff. Plus, I thought the Jets needed a pass rusher more than a 3-4 end. I'm not upset about the pick, just thought there was one guy I liked more.

I understand not wanting an "elite" safety in the first round. However, we're talking about pick #29. It's late enough in the First round to merit it.

Honestly he reminds me of Jim Leonhard. He's a smart player, he could have been the signal caller on D, and he makes plays.

Cro isn't a free safety. Only way they can move him is if they can get a second elite corner. There isn't anyone like that available. No one in the draft, and no one in Free Agency.

And the Jets like having multiple Safeties. Leonhard would be welcomed back with open arms.

Coples had 10 sacks in 2010. He gets sacks. He's not an edge rusher, but he's gotten sacks. And this kid

And don't forget, they do have an edge pass rusher, whom was drafted 11th overall in the 2009 draft. 6 sacks in 2011, I can easily see get into double digits, especially since reports are that he has bulked up a bit, and is looking to play this year at 245-250.

It's now being reported that the Browns were planning on taking Kendall Wright at 22 but when the Titans got him at 20, Weeden became the Browns new target.
