This thing is gonna kick into gear once the replies start to be posted. Opening statements have been good so far, but the replies are where the real debate gets down.

Hey D-Man, I have a question regarding the topic for my debate.

The topic is "Was the Raw General Manager guest host concept a success or bust?"

Does that refer to the Guest host concept (which is ongoing), or the guest host being the GM of the show concept (that ended back in 2010).

I am working on my reply now, but can't finish it until I am sure of the criteria you are asking.

/facepalm

If it were just the guest host concept, I wouldn't have specified that the guest host was also GM.

It could have been a smart move from myself if I made Munk make the opening statement. Seeing as how his timezone his different it could have messed with his daily routine. But I'm a nice a guy and took the opening statement.

In the past, the home debater got both choices (stance and who debates first.) I always felt that was completely unfair and too much power to give one person because both choices are so important in order to produce the most effective debating strategy.

Debate stance goes without saying.

Order of debates is EXTREMELY important. It's very difficult for someone to start a debate for a few reasons.

1. The starting debater rarely gets the last word.
2. The starting debater usually gets the least amount of chances to reply to their opponent's debate posts.
3. The starting debater sets the tone for the entire argument and initially steers its direction. Personally, I'd rather derail the train than drive it.

In a sense, choosing the order is the most important power you could have. (That is, if you can make good points regardless of the stance you take.) These are probably the most important (and probably only) tips I'll give during the duration of this tournament. Cherish them.

As I said later, I was 90% sure, just wanted to confirm before I submit my opening statement (basically I'd rather look like an idiot here then look like an idiot where it counts).

Thanks for the help.

Fuck man. So the day I am about to post my opening post, my laptop crashes. Colossal bad luck on my part. I just hurried through a post from a cyber cafe. I hope I can make this thing work.

I hate when stuff like that happens. I lost a post once that I had worked really hard on due to internet issues, and ever since then I have made sure to copy the text of a more lengthy/important post before attempting to post. That way you don't lose it if issues arise....

I've learned over time that whenever I create a long post, after each paragraph, I temporarily copy it into MS Word, just in case.

Half of my debate league posts from last year were done from a library or a computer inside of a hotel lobby (had moved out of my apartment, had a month before my next lease began, so I was basically a hobo). Fun stuff.

Being a former Debater, could you provide some insight into Debates that have taken your interest?

Beginning to think I might have scared off my opponent....

Mr. Steve sure is cutting it close to that 24hr reply time.

Nah. I was busy helping my sister out with some stuff the whole day today.

Besides, haven't you realized that I have a lax responsability code regarding Wrestlezone posts? I get in a debate, miss the deadline and I'll have a good debate, regardless.

Punctuality means jack shit if you're clear about what you're writing about ;) that, and you know how to derail the thing that's derailing the train, so to play on D-Man's words.
