2011-12 NBA Playoffs LD

I love it. I actually kind of feel bad for Durant, but he'll get his ring(s) someday. Fucking ecstatic to see Lebron get his.

It won't. LBJ haters will always find something to rip him on. I don't think they'll give him the credit he's due until he's won all 8 of those championships he said he would.

Some of us can still strongly dislike his decisions and still say he's the best basketball player in the world.

I don't think anybody dispute Lebron as the best player in the NBA. Most just think he could have done better with the talent he has up till today and therefore others were more deserving of MVP awards.

Everybody has been screaming for him to post up more since his Cleveland days. And when he finally did it this year, he won the title.

Since this is a team accomplishment, not really.
If I was talking about how the Heat won, your statement would make sense. But since I was referring to how much better James played than Durant, your statement doesn't really apply. :)

The officiating in the playoffs was no worse than it is in any regular NBA game. Basketball is a hard game to ref before you start having to make circumstantial exceptions based on entertainment.
The referees do a very good job. I know what it's like to referee, and while people love to point the finger at the two or three mistakes which happen, they ignore the fact referees get almost all calls correct. It's only with the benefit of replay that fans can even disagree with the referees.

Why wasn't it a charge?
Because Fisher didn't maintain his vertical plane. He leaned into LeBron, initiating the contact. To be a charge, you have to maintain your defensive position, and you're entitled to the vertical plane all the way up to the ceiling. If you alter that plane, however, it cannot be a charge.

He barreled into him and his shoulder went pretty much right square in the middle of Fisher's chest.
LeBron was going to go around Fisher, and Fisher leaned into him.

People mistakenly think the feet of the defender is the most important thing when it comes to taking a charge.
:lmao:

I'm not sure who the "people" are that you're referring to, but I assure you that I do not need you to educate me on the rules of the sport. I've played, refereed and coached basketball for years. My father coached, my grandfather coached and my stepfather is active as a referee. I've been to numerous rules meetings and have read basketball rule books.

Derek Fisher fouled LeBron.

That isn't the case. I would expect that to be called a block in the NBA but to take it to the step of making it flagrant was absurd.
Like I said, I think it's because Fisher extended the arms which turned it into a flagrant. I'm not sure it should have been, but I'd guess that's why it was.

Some of us can still strongly dislike his decisions and still say he's the best basketball player in the world.

I understand that, my dad is one of those guys. There's no denying though that there are plenty of LBJ detractors that don't respect his greatness, like Skip Bayless.

I'm still very happy that LeBron James and the Heat are the NBA Champeens.

Those people are crazy, LBJ has been the best player in the league since he took the mantle off of Kobe a couple years ago.

Those people must have just looked at his scoring then. He's not nearly the defender or distributor that Lebron is.
I think it was more a case of them looking at anything which would keep them from having to recognize now great LeBron is.

We have a lot of ground to make up then. Let's start with, "the talk." You know, the one where you tell me why it's a bad idea to invest in a Mutual Fund in this market and why my money would be safer in a 401k.

Don't get sassy with me boy, you damn well better be maxing out your Roth IRA.

I certainly do not believe that Lebron was going to go around Fisher based on anything I see in that replay.

He was doing a juke, to attack Fisher's left shoulder to go around and make a layup. Fisher leaned into James to initiate the contact.

It was definitely a foul on Fisher. Definitely not a charge.

I have to laugh at Lebron being called an MVP by anyone when he jumped ship from this area to join a team of stars. (FYI, I didn't like him when he was in high school; Has nothing to do w/the Cavs.)

Also, let's not pretend (I see many analysts & fans alike aren't on Twitter) that there were guys on the court for every game, having major impact, that never took a shot or passed the ball..

If it wasn't already official, LeBron is currently the best player in basketball and now not a single argument can be made otherwise. Kevin Durant is the clear number two and he has nothing to be ashamed of because he is the only Thunder player who played well in every single game this series. He and the Thunder likely have multiple titles in their future and I can almost guarantee this isn't the last time we have seen a OKC/Miami NBA Finals.
