It's DAMN Real!: The Kurt Angle HQ

I'm Literally Just Here for WZCW

Intensity. Integrity. Intelligence.

These three I's are quite simply all that describes Kurt Angle of how great a wrestler this man is. There are not many men in this business, if any, that can be considered in Angle's echelon, the highest prestige ranking you can achieve in wrestling. How many amateur wrestlers can you name off the top of your head that can transition into professional wrestling and leave one of the best legacies there has been for a long time?

This man has been destined for greatness even before entering the circuit with the WWE, winning the gold medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games for the freestyle wrestling category with a BROKEN FREAKIN' NECK. Hell, Angle even joined the Hall of Fame multiple times and won the World Championship prior to him becoming a spectacle in professional wrestling. Once he found his footing, this man won every championship he could possibly win in his time within the WWE, being the first ever Euro-continental champion in history. Same thing happened with his TNA reign as he held the Tag Team, X Division & World Titles with the company as well as the IWGP Third Belt Championship simultaneously. Kurt Angle has the resume.

Angle's diversity in the ring is downright scary. Naturally, the man is a pure technician and submission specialist. Many people have circum to the wrath of Angle's Ankle Lock, especially when the leg has been vised. Outside of his comfort zone, there is no weak spot in the game plan of Kurt as every aspect can be utilised to his advantage. He has the psychological understanding of out-wrestling AND out-doing his opponents using their own speciality. He can match chops with Ric Flair, create more impact than a Benoit German, soar more elegantly with the moonsault than Shawn Michaels. All men in this tournament, and yet Angle can mimic what they do, but better. Kurt Angle has the wrestling skills.

  • Kurt Angle has been in every match known to man.
  • Kurt Angle has some of the best charisma in the game.
  • Kurt Angle losing cleanly is a rarity.

I could go on and on and on about the finer points of Kurt Angle, but there is a word limit for OP's. I'll keep it short and sweet by adding that he is the greatest wrestler in the world and is always booked strong. He has all the tools required to win the entire tournament and I will be pushing for him to become the 2010 winner.

I think Kurt Angle is the man I will be backing through this tournament.

Seriously, is there anybody this man hasn't beat? His mat wrestling ability is just phenomenal, and surprisingly entertaining. When you watch him wrestle a match you get the feeling that no matter what his opponent does, Kurt Angle already knows who to get back into the dominant position.

Beyond mat wrestling, he does well in other areas too. While brawling is not Kurt Angle's strongest selling point, he's thrown fists with the best of them. He also does one of the prettiest moonsaults I've ever seen. He excels in all aspects of professional wrestling. Oh yeah, and he won a gold medal too.

I'll wrap up this post with the wise words of Paul Heyman...

He can wrestle.
He can brawl.
Kurt Angle can do it all.

I toss and turn a lot when I sleep. As a result, I'm pretty certain that I counter the Olympic Slam once every twenty minutes during my prime resting hours. A shame, as the average person to last twenty minutes in the ring with Angle normally counters that move five or six more times than that. I've gotta up my game.

Yes, and tournament situations never work out well for Angle. Do you remember the Olympic tournament? Broken Neck! Do you remember the KotR tournament? Yeah, he won, but he had to wear that goofy crown for 6 months which probably led to.. a Broken Neck! Angle might get someone like Hansen or JBL in the first round and.. Broken Neck! Seriously, I love me some Angle, but I can't put my stock in someone who has broken their neck more times then Tiger Woods has had affairs.

I find it laughable at how ignorant some people can be. Using this logic of "broken neck" I could say that Triple H tears a quad muscle or dq's himself using a sledgehammer in his first match, thus rendering him useless. Difference is, Kurt Angle can win a tournament with a broken neck.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure Big Show got Angle Slammed numerous times, so I'm guessing Roidtista ain't going to be having as much success either. The Batista Bomb is easily detectable so reversing is a cinch for many great wrestlers, whereas you need a high agility and perception rating to counter the Angle Slam.

However, his first match is against Billy Graham. In my eyes, I can see how both parties can win, but Angle is the more diverse wrestler.

The thread should now be overtaken with matches that Kurt Angle wasn't involved in. I'll start.

Ric Flair vs. Magnum TA - Superclash '85

Angle has always competed in I Quit matches considering the amount of times he's made people tap out. He has buried several wrestlers in the past via his Invitational. I'm pretty sure Kurt has sent people home in ambulances because of their pain.

I seem to remember something about Kurt Angle and caskets for some reason.

If anyone on here knows anything about me. It's that I pride myself on being the biggest Angle mark on the forum. Now I have taken a stance to guide Samoa Joe throughout this tournament to a win. But if he gets elminated early im with you Falkon It's Kurt Angle's time to shine.

So vote Samoa Joe...but if he gets kidnapped again vote Angle.

Angle beat HBK cleanly at Wrestlemania 21 in a phenomenal match using the Ankle Lock on Shawn. Just thought that was worth mentioning.

Indeed, that's my favourite match of all time. Is Angle a better wrestler than Shawn though? Is McMahon deciding who wins this? I think Shawn's fanbase on the forum, plus him being the better wrestler overall, can win this for him.

If Angle hadn't taken the time to posture and try to get in Shawn's head about 4/5 through the match, Shawn would have never had the chance to superkick him though. If it wasn't for this moment, I don't doubt Angle could have ended the match then and there.

Not to mention, the ending (which in my opinion is the best submission ending ever) featured Angle holding onto that ankle lock like his life depended on it, despite Shawn's relentless attempts to escape.

I like Shawn Michaels a lot, but I don't think he's as great a wrestler as Angle is.

Better superstar, maybe. Better wrestler, well you'd have to ask Angle's gold medals about that.

When Shawn tries the kick, well you know what happens next.

ANKLE LOCK.....tapout!

Becca do we gotta do this again I'll fight you lol

You said wrestler. Aren't they called superstars now-a-days? Point being Angle can out-wrestle HBK. Angle has the Ankle lock to counter the Kick to the Chin. Hard to kick with a broken ankle.

To Becca's credit, Shawn was about on pace with Angle at their Wrestlemania match in regards to Wrestling. It just seemed like Angle was able to outlast Shawn and capitalize on his mistakes. Angle still beats HBK in my book, but it's not because Shawn can't deal with the wrestling.

Doesn't what we 'can' call them change every week? They're wrestling, I'm therefore going to call them wrestlers.

Funny, I don't remember Angle ever breaking his ankle in the past. And Shawn is also very, very good at the technical aspect of the business.
