I liked the Abridged series a bit. Makes more sense for that "king of games" title.
I liked the "spin-off series" more since I grew up with it and found a few cards interesting and whatnot. I HATED the long gap during the Duelist Kingdom tournament when it took FOREVER for 'em to continue with the new episodes. "Why didn't Sugoroku's body decompose after a year of not having been saved!" I thought as a kid.
I hated how they changed the rules to real-life rules. Made more sense anyway. Battle City Tournament was the shit in my eyes!
I tried re-inventing that whole gimmick of a deck whatever (ya know, a monster separate acting as a leader or master or whatever -- that if destroyed costs you the duel), but it sucked since I was the only one doing so and had only so many cards I just bullshitted my way to victory. Ya know, when they were stuck in that cyberworld? Not the first time, though I liked the whole RPG-ish thing of the first time.
I LOVED the whole Orichalkos thing they came up with. Maybe just the music when it came up, but damn, that was pretty fuckin' darker than Pegasus stealing souls with the Eye! And it dealt with fuckin' Atlantis!...sorta.
I stopped watching halfway through the final match for that part of the "season" for some reason. Watched two episodes of the final season, and maybe even the ending, but I don't remember very well.
Never watched that Academy series. Seemed kinda lame and the basis of going to school for whaaaaaaaaaaaaat seemed just as lame.
I kinda find 5Ds okay, but I haven't been able to catch it anymore after only watching a few episodes a few years back and watching more a few months ago -- then for some stupid reason Cartoon Network took it off the morning timeslot and didn't get to watch it before heading to school. I don't like the whole motorcycle thing cuz there was one duel where I though "damn, just how big is that building where they're dueling?!" Even though Yusei's character was just as cheesy as the ones before, it was heartwarming how he talked to that one guy who was a double-team dueling specialist about his little fiasco.
