Just watched Thor Ragnarock. That was a perfect example of a Thor movie written by Gardian of the Galaxy writers. Major improvement seeing how Thor movies are pretty much turds (In my opinion. Didn't like any of them). It helped that The Hulk was around to add to the charm but if you really think out it, his role in the film is an extended cameo and nothing much more than that. Everything was 10 times over the top and it helped in matters and hurt your brain in others. Jeff Goldblum was effortlessly hilarious in his Grandmaster role. It wasn't an awesome movie, but it was entertaining at times.

I loved it. To me, it embraced the ridiculousness of Thor as a character, while previously he had been taken way too seriously in both the previous Thor and Avengers movies.

I absolutely get the Guardians similarities, but I think that was more down to them trying to put in a heavily (HEAVILY) adapted version of Planet Hulk into it, but I actually thought having Thor in that setting really worked.

I haven't seen any of the LOTR films for a good while but I don't have 7 days free to watch them all again. But I do remember being a bit bored.

I know it's a decisive subject but I thought The Last Jedi was glorious.

My first impression of The Last Jedi is a 7/10 so far. I had some problems with it in parts. But just like Empire Strikes Back, I'll probably love it on a re watch, over and over again. It has that horrible casino side quest though. I'll never give it points for that.

The majority of the problems I've heard are fair, though in my understanding of what I saw I could answer them to satisfy my own viewing. So many epic moments, and it honestly had me gripped from beginning to end.

Casino planet was a bit of a tough sit-through though...or as I call it; 'Ode to the Prequels.' I feel like, as with many things in this film, we'll be getting pay-off to that in IX.


LOTR might just be some of the best made films of all time. I just...argh, I don't know. They just don't resonate well with me, though I owe it to myself to give them another go. I think I just respect them more than I like them.

I have such immense respect for those films without even touching on the inspiration that the original books had for D&D and for many video games. Love them all.

Again, I haven't seen the film because my girlfriend hates going to the movies and I look too creepy to attend the theater alone, but one of the biggest gripes I've heard from people trying to give me the spoiler free gripes is Luke. Something about how he wasn't true to character. Idk, characters grow over time, good ones do anyway.

LOTR is a great trilogy, but Two Towers was my least favorite. I tend to find the middle film in trilogies to be the worst, but there are exceptions. Empire and Godfather 2 (If you want to count the abortion that was Godfather 3) come to mind.

On the subject of Tolkien and his influence. Oddly enough I was playing a Warhammer inspired video game a few days back and my character was a dwarf and I could only use battle axes as my main weapon. I pondered aloud why dwarfs and axes are basically synonymous with each other and we all agree that it was Tolkien's doing.
