WZCW Discussion Thread

I had a roommate who was well versed in akido get into a sparring match with an MMA fighter.

Fighter came in, my roommate trapped his punching arm, whipped him around and put him in an armbar.

He was asked not to spar again.

The hell?

I got fucked up by a Ti Quan do black belt about two weeks ago. I spent about the first two minutes eating his leg kicks, I thought no big deal.... and then he got me good in the ribs with a shin and that was about all she wrote.

My old roommate was telling me that he was pretty much told that akido like moves (parrying a blow to pull it into a control hold or submission) was not allowed in spars centered around MMA style fighting.

He was told he could block, parry, avoid, but couldn't transition say grabbing the wrist and doing the open door motion to turn it into a come along wrist lock.

No, that dude was a puss and got his ass beat and didn't want to have it happen again. Outside of small joint manipulation you can parry, block, anything. Catch a punch , and twist with your hip into him is a hip toss, that's somewhat like what you said, and I just did that to a guy I trained with last week.

I see. I've seen a few times where people would be in a spar and one guy would ask for no more throws or knees or something, but I think that may have been part of the training more than wimping out. Have you ever been asked/told to eliminate something from your arsenal so you could focus on other parts during a spar? My roommate was told to stop kicking during a spar because he was relying on it far too often and it was leaving his punching ability lacking in the actual spar.

Though, to be honest, I can't really recall seeing a lot of akido use in UFC, with things like come alongs and such.

Oh sometimes we will cut out kicks, but it's really just a matter of how hard you go. There's always some one who will go balls to the wall when we're doing technical sparing. So our coach has told all four of us on the fight team if someone spars hard, spar hard back. That's how I ripped that dudes muscle in his arm. He was like 280 trying to spar 155 pounders.

Basically if we spar, we know to pull throws and kicks, you always cant. But shit happens.

So, I stumbled across this during one of my internet escapades:

A game made by a studio called Killjoy Games.... Any chance that this is made by our Killjoy?

Edit: It's also the most gloriously awful looking game ever.

"Fully fledged game" is giving that video way too much credit...

Also, has Creative reached any kind of decision in regards to my RP enquiry...?

I don't like you that much but I'm not talking shit. Dagger sometimes less is more my dude. I haven't read the last two rounds of roleplays. But sometimes I've gotten sort of lost in your roleplays. Ive wrote longer roleplays, so has mostly everyone. If 7k words flows well together than great.

I'm not gonna lie, I've read thousands of roleplays, and I'm guilty of this shit too. Sometimes we all need to cut a little filler out.

But with that being said, it is a huge "ppv" card and maybe you'll win with it. Who knows:shrug:

I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've tried to be nice to you. Grammer problems aside alot of people overlook me because I've never wrote a world title rp, or this or that. I've been reading and writing rp's since 2006 man. I enjoy seeing the enthusiasm you put into your charicter.

I enjoy seeing you push creative to write your character the way you want him to be, because it's something I should have done myself. I was trying for months to re invent Bowen as training mma and re introduced his amateur wrestling background, and never once was it used. None of the submissions I ever posted on my page were use, and none of the stuff I built up to with it was ever wrote into a match or segment. Shit happens, but that's alot of the reason I stopped writing.

Yeah 7,000+ is juuuuuuuuuuuuust a bit much. And this is coming from a guy who will collectively write over 7,000 in all likelihood between two RP's.

How many pots have you been smoking, Bowen?

Liar. I bet both your RP's are pushing 4500+.

There's always the potential. Depends if I get into that type of zone where it just flows from my mind to the screen. If that happens I can easily go 4000 if I push it. Some of my best RP's have been that way, and some of my best have been extremely laborious to put down.

Welp, Dagger loses by default due to creative not reading his RP. J/K... but I'm sure everyone will have written novels.

Is that how Thriller ever won matches? By submitting wicked short RP's? Good to know...

I still miss you being part of the fed. Forever a mark for Alex Bowen.
