Fuck. Not good news for the mountain man. :(
Edit: But even so, I have to get through Drew's RP first, which I'll only get if I bring my best AND I'm very lucky...

The first round was genuinely randomised, even though the potential second round matches include Grizzly vs. The Beard, Howard vs Stormrage and Blade vs. Izzy.

Blade's entire run, save Toyota, through the tournament could feature cogs from Blade's KC cycle:

Izzy

He could then have to face his good friend Grizzly Bob, where the question becomes if he'll resort to cheating against his friend (we all know Grizzly won't cheat)

Then in the finals it could potentially be Zeus...

Or, it could be the man that seems the most natural feud for Blade, Sam Smith

Izzy, Bob and Zeus is literally my template for the planning of my tournament RP's, should I get past Toyota. The perfection of that run would be so perfect, you would think it was booked.

But it's all random....

The official boards will likely go up Monday or Tuesday and you typically have ten days. So likely between the 20th and 22nd if my math is right.

Awesome, thanks. :)

There should be a deadline posted in the thread, and there's an extension thread here...

...if you need it.

Doubt I'll need an extension. Just needed to sort out some ideas for my RP. I have a good idea of where to go with the next one, so knowing a better idea of when it's needed by helps me better allocate time to work on it.

Take a break - seriously, you'd be amazed how many times I've broken the wall with RPs just by doing that. If you're concerned about it though I'd make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get writing

Also Ricky Runn in round one then either Stormrage or Smith in round 2. You kidding me? That's gonna make for some awkward RPs

Dead thread, so I thought I'd revive.

Anyone know a good way to beat writer's block whilst writing an RP?

The best advice I've ever had for true writer's block is to keep on writing. Just write whatever comes to mind, even if it sucks. You can edit and delete later; it's better to just keep writing something than nothing.

That said, sometimes "writer's block" is also the result of lack of preparation; sometimes you need to take a step back, evaluate what you've done and where you want to go. Sometimes editing through what you've already written is a good way to start this.

It's also important to keep the time scale of writing in mind. "Keep on writing" means don't let it sit for a day or two. Taking a break for a half hour to do something else and let your conscious brain rest is fine. Your subconscious mind will keep working through the issues at hand.

This.

Also, just kinda brain storm, follow your train of thought. Sometimes the best ideas come from random thoughts.

Even though I'm new around this section, I've had my fair share of writer's block problems when writing for other projects in the past. Dealing with it it is all about a combination of finding inspiration and simply relaxing, for me anyway. I get most of my better ideas when taking a long walk or sitting on the porch while letting my thoughts drift.

I've come to the conclusion over the years that writer's block is not a thing.

Not wanting to write is a thing, but being unable to write, unless you have suffered some kind of brain embolism, is not.

Sometimes you just don't know what to write?

Your character goes back to the place he used to work during collage and reunites with some old co-workers, but they are now distant from him due to his success. Your charter realities that now he's entered the world of fame and fortune, he can never go back to the normal world.

Your character contracts a bad bout of flu, and is bedridden for a few days. A men typically surrounded by others who's very identity is built upon his physical strength has to come to terms with feeling weak and isolated.

Your character's significant other decides that she wants a separation due to dislike of the road schedule. Confronted with the reality of his profession, your character has to make difficult decisions about where his priorities truly lie.

Some aspiring rookie performer tries to make a bit of a name for himself by attempting to start trouble with your character during a gym session. You're character's patience and compassion are tested as he decides how to resolve this difficult situation.

Your character's contract expired after Kingdom Come, and he is forced to reenter negotiations with a company that is cutting costs and perhaps does not find him as valuable as they did a year ago. Your character has to come to terms with taking a step down, and returns with new found resolve to reclaim his former glory.

There. Five perfectly serviceable ideas that have all the necessary ingredients for a passable roleplay and contain potential for conflict and room for character development. I literally just pulled these out of my ass in about five minutes.

There is no such thing as not being able to think of something to write - the world is a big interesting place and you can write about pretty much anything. What people are talking about when they mention "writer's block" is the point at which the initial inspiration dies and the words magically stop flowing all by themselves. I typically refer to this as writing.

If you don't have a good idea, write a mediocre one until it becomes so.

*furiously writes down ideas, then realizes the futility of copying down things that are stored forever in a section I have unlimited access to*

I've intentionally mixed third and first person to see if you'll begin an angry reply to me
