This whole PTSD thing that I've been trying to work into Derek's story is a hybrid of both of our lives.

I guess he just couldn't overcome it.

Just came back from an event known as "Supernova" which is Australia's shitty equivalent of Comic Con. I spent the entire day looking through every stall 5 times over waiting for friends to get signatures/photo's from celebrities and got me a pretty nifty Deadpool/Pinkie Pie vinyl poster, as well as a Sarge (Red vs. Blue) poster with all his awesome quotes and a Pinkie Pie shirt.

Definitely need to cosplay next year - the highlights of my day were interacting with pony and a clicker cosplayer as well as commenting on people's costumes whilst saying the wrong name (i.e. telling a Deadpool cosplayer that he had the best Spoderman costume of the day - the "o" was intentional). I'm thinking Super Kame Guru, Sarge or Pinkie Pie as my costume of choice - the first two I can pull off with my voice and I know Pinkie like the back of my hand.

In the course of doing some writing for my latest RP, I have come across one of the major drawbacks of the "Lee Method" of RPing. Now, I follow that method rather closely, even if the recapping of events, talking about my opponent and character development can at times be hidden but this round I have something of a problem with following it.

Now, while I have plenty to talk about from the last round and have character development for Barbosa and SHIT coming out of my ears, it is the talking about my opponents that is causing me some trouble. This is because I said quite a lot about my opponents in my last RP and nothing has changed in the shows since - Constantine seems to be bringing in more people to get at Technosa, Celeste is going to defend her man/meal-ticket and Kravinoff seems out to distract BarboSHIT.

Normally, I would follow my instincts and refuse to repeat everything that I have said before even if it were to count against me in the eventual voting - luckily, Miko is of the same opinion as I am (I think). Having said that, before likes of Doc and JGlass mention it, I have been somewhat vocal about RPers making their work at least somewhat anchored in the wrestling world so it is a careful balancing act

Anyone else have this creative problem? How do you deal with it? Ignore it and write what you want? Or do you include the largely repeated sections, no matter how forced they might seem, just so you can say that that 'box is ticked'?

Yeah, I am of the same opinion as you, often times I don't talk about my opponents at all because, well, what do you want me to say "I am really going to give it my best shot!" "I'll exploit their weaknesses!" Course I am, that's the point, take that on faith fellows. Meanwhile I'll be talking about something I find far more interesting. The Lee method of Rp'ing doesn't even factor into my thinking, I am not sure I'd know what it is.

This is something like what I was getting at. Should you shoehorn something into your RP to have that pretty big box ticked? Or should you leave it out?

Questions like that swirl around my head from time to time mainly because my mindset of marking/voting is/was "how can I justify not giving this the win/high mark" especially when there is so many to get through. While I trust Creative to have their own sensible approach and opinions about voting, leaving out addressing your opponents could easily be seen as a major thing to hold against you, especially in a close match.

Do you tick that box?

Personally, I usually do but only if it fits in with what I am writing as I am firmly in the camp of "I will write what I want as long as it advances the story I am telling as I really don't care if I win." (Well, that last bit is only mostly true. I only really care if I win when I don't and I thought I really should. It has only happened twice maybe? Answers on a postcard.)

And yet despite that lack of caring, I have firmly adopted the Lee Method as the skeleton of all of RPs...

A bit of a conflicted chap, aren't I? Or should I say "aren't we?"

I reckon not ticking boxes has cost me in the past, that and I don't wallow on describing what I think of as pointless shite for an RP. I mean, I couldn't give a fuck how the votes fall anymore. I actually like my own stuff these days and the only stuff that goes in is what I feel belongs. Might not get any fancy titles or "defining moments" but, fuck those boxes, and their ticking, not for me.

So I guess I don't have your dilemma at all really.

It was weird, but when that happened to me I spent far more time on this and another forum I used to kind of frequent because nobody knew about it and the world was more normal. Sorry to hear about that though mate.

I talked to Brad's mom and wife last night, and they said that they think it was an accidental overdose. Most likely he mixed perscription meds with booze. Nothing will be known for sure until after the autopsy.

The RP that I wrote this week has a story in it similar to Brad's and I wrote it before I got the call saying he was dead. In light of that, I'm still going back and forth on if I even want to post this one or start all over again. Just keep his family and friends in your thoughts.
