The most widely celebrated Aussie holiday is "I didn't get eaten by the wildlife" day. I gather that it's celebrated with barbecues, beer and mourning those less fortunate by telling jokes about them.

That's every day though...

We get the regular ones such as Christmas, Easter & New Years (no Halloween or Thanksgiving). We also have the Queen's Birthday which is essentially a public holiday for everyone and Australia Day. The worst part about that is the government is thinking of changing Australia Day to "Citizen's Day" because the multi-cultural aspect of our country finds the Australian flag and the Australian culture offensive.

Apparently, Australia isn't allowed to be Australian any more because its too offensive... but that's another topic for another day, I guess.

The implication is that every day where Australia doesn't kill and eat you is one worth celebrating. There's a reason why the first people to build towns and villages in Australia were convicts without any choice but to go.
