WZCW Discussion Thread

I generally try to plan in my head a few days ahead what i'm going to do for my RPs. My best time for ideas is usually when i'm in bed at night trying to sleep. I usually turn it out in one afternoon, i'll set aside some time for it.

Luckily I have a rough framework for the entire cycle about what i'm doing with my RPs.

Normally when I was a singles wrestler I just sat down about 3 hours before deadline and whatever random ideas I had in my head throughout the week would be put down on paper stream of consciousness style and knocked it out in an hour or 2.

Since I'm in a tag team now I do far more planning then I ever have had to before, which has actually made things quite a bit easier writing wise. My last RP I crushed in record time and had a rather lengthy RP and got it done early.

I always write while listening to music, but I try to match the music to the mood of my writing. If it's dark and sinister it's always been some thrashy or black metal, or some aggressive hip hop. If I'm going with a sentimental angle I'll listen to a quieter trip hop playlist instead, so on and so on.

Did you ever read what I sent you?

How do you guys RP?

Do you get an idea in your head and just jot it down for later? Do you schedule a day/time to RP and then just come up with it then? Do you need to be listening to music or have something going on in the background? Read your opponent's RP for the current session (if they posted first), dig through their old stuff?

Why do you ask so many damn questions?

Just kidding, it's cool.

My process for writing singles RPs is kind of boring. I see who I'm facing, come up with an idea usually within a day or two after the boards are posted. After that I give it a few days to sink in and come up with jokes or plot points. I usually start to write it a day before it's due, and sometimes I finish early, but usually I finish it the day it is due.

For tag matches is a little more interesting, and probably worth emulating if you want to have tag team success. I'll PM my partner after we get the match and talk about the story we want to tell. We'll shoot a few PMs back and forth to come up with some jokes and to tell each other if there's anything we want the other to include in our characters. For instance, I'm teaming with Miko this week, and I reminded him that Saboteur doesn't curse in his RPs, something that other people who have borrowed Saboteur in the past have neglected to follow (looking at you, Echelon). After that, we decide who writes the first RP and who writes the second. Whoever is writing the first half gets his RP in with enough time for the guy writing the second half to give it a read and make his RP follow the first one.

Midnight EST is usually 7 or 8AM CAT. What I usually do is totally forget about it, go to sleep, wake up in a cold sweat at about 3, spend half an hour cursing, then wrack my useless brains while smoking half the cigarettes I have on me.

Working very hard on not doing that anymore, though.

I really need a life.

Here you go. ;)

My way of RP is different each time. Sometimes it takes me days to come up with an idea and other times I'll have an idea well before the boards go up and I got that outlined or it will be forgotten.

Speaking of which I'm pretty much finished my RP. Anyone want to give some insight?

We can share, just like old times.

I better warn you, I am going to be tardy with my RP this round. Constantly checking over my shoulder will do that.

I was actually thinking of changing Fallout's theme. The current one makes Fallout sound like a badass, but I don't think it's scary enough.

I think this retains some elements of badass, and is also intimidating.

I like it. That would be a good fit for the character.

Go on ;)

I'm very uncomfortable by that Barrett Stratton RP.

This is coming from the guy who made a rape joke in his RP. I kid.

I agree. There's a big difference between putting down your competition, and just being disgustingly insulting. If you're going to handle such matters (ill advised as it is), make sure you handle them with great care.

Even Fallout would be telling Stratton to take a chill pill. And not in a good way.
